ABOUT SOUTH SHORE SELECT Our primary goal is to develop players in a challenging and enjoyable environment. We hope that each player can take their love of the game with them and always strive to reach their greatest potential. Select is proud of all its players, many of whom have achieved academic and playing excellence professionally and collegiately. Our players have gone on to shine in their town programs, high school teams, Olympic Development Teams (ODP), Regional Level teams, and on our US Youth National Teams. Several of our players currently participate in US Soccer National Training Centers and US Club Soccer id2 Training Programs. In addition, Select alumni have played at top colleges such as Harvard University, Syracuse University, Boston College, and Northeastern. Our teams have competed at the National Championships the past two years, and our teams have had great success at major events and tournaments across the United States. As South Shore Select Academy is affiliated with the South Shore Indoor Sports Center in Hingham, there are plenty of opportunities to train and play in the winter months when most clubs are at a standstill. In addition, practices are rarely cancelled due to bad weather in the fall and spring, thanks to our partnership with the indoor facility. OUR PHILOSOPHY Our goal is to develop strong, confident and well-rounded young women. We hope to make our girls the best players they can be, while maintaining their love and passion for the game of soccer. We strive to make each player a better individual off the field as well, by teaching them a sense of community and social responsibility. We believe it takes more than impeccable training to create a champion. We strive to provide an atmosphere where your daughter s passion is supported, fostered and celebrated. We want them to remember their time on the soccer field as a positive, competitive and heartfelt experience that prepared them for their future endeavors. OUR VALUES COACHING STAFF o Integrity o Respect o Family o Dedication o Passion o Communication: Honest & Open 3

COACHING STAFF Our professional and experienced staff has played and coached soccer at the highest levels in the United States and abroad. We are unique in that we offer wonderful role models in our female coaching staff as well as some of the most highly qualified and prestigious male coaches in the area. We are committed to developing our players into great athletes and all-around successful individuals. There is no magic formula or short cut to successful development. Coaching at youth levels is all about working with players to improve performance, not about recruiting players to build teams to win championships. Soccer is a player s game and players should be considered first when political, administrative and coaching decisions are made. -Bobby Howe, US Soccer, Former Director of Coaching, Professional & National Team OUR DIRECTORS LIZ LIMA South Shore Select Director NSCAA Director of Coaching Diploma NSCAA National & Advanced Regional Diploma US Soccer National Training Center Staff Coach Massachusetts ODP Coach Head Varsity Coach, Notre Dame Academy Hingham Boston Globe Division II High School Coach of the Year Former Assistant Coach, Stonehill College Played Division I Soccer at Harvard University NSCAA High School All-American WPSL Player & Captain Former Professional Futsal Player in Italy ALISON FOLEY South Shore Select Senior Coaching Director Enters her 19th season as the head coach at Boston College. 235-121-34 record - Foley has won more games than any other women s soccer coach in program history. BIRTH YEAR: NEW AGE GROUPING US Youth Soccer is implementing a new birth year mandate that takes effect next fall. Simply stated, kids will now be grouped with all players born in the same calendar year. Below is the new birth year chart for next fall: BIRTH YEAR NEXT YEAR S PLAYING GROUP 2010 Train Only 2009 Train Only 2008 Under 9 2007 Under 10 2006 Under 11 2005 Under 12 2004 Under 13 2003 Under 14 2002 Under 15 2001 Under 16 2000 Under 17 1999 Under 18 As a club, we will be implementing the new birth year requirements as follows: Any player currently playing on a U12 or younger team will play with their respective birth year groups next year. Example -- A player with a 2007 birth year will play as part of the U10 age group next year Example -- A player with a 2005 birth year will play as part of the U12 age group next year Any player currently playing on a U13 or older team will have the choice to play with their respective birth year group next year or they may choose to try out with their current age group. This allows many of our older teams who have been together for multiple years to continue to play together as a group. Example: A current U13 player with a 2003 birth year will have the choice to play with the 2003 s (U14 age group) or the 2002 s (U15 age group) since they are being grandfathered into their current age group. Exceptions to the birth year requirement may be made at the discretion of our staff. We are also happy to answer any specific questions you may have regarding how this may affect your child next year. 5

NEW FOR 2016-2017: Select s New Levels of Play We are often asked HOW we are able to continually turn out top players from such a tiny corner of the country? WHY do our teams continually rank among the top in the country, and WHAT exactly is the formula to creating a champion? Those who have trained with us understand... there is no short answer. The methods used and instruction offered, coupled with the amazing families in our program, have not only culminated in an impressive record of achievements but also in creating the Select Difference. As a club, we are as committed as ever to furthering our goal of creating the next generation of strong, confident females, both on and off the field. As part of our continued commitment to provide the very best soccer experience possible to our players and families, we announce with great pride the development of our Select Advanced Placement Program (AP Program). The Select AP Program will be a place where our most talented and dedicated players can work to compete on a National level, building upon the legacy of our current teams who are finding great success well beyond the fields of New England. As a result of our success and the addition of our AP Program, we are pleased to announce our new levels of play within our program, which we will be implementing for the 2016-2017 season. Further detail can be found below or by viewing the chart on page 9. What does this mean for my player? Players invited into our AP Program aren t just great soccer players. The program is a place for our most dedicated and talented girls. These girls want nothing more than to be a part of a National Championship winning team, and are willing to put their soccer training and teammates above other commitments in their schedules. These players will be a part of something bigger than just their team; they will be part of a prestigious pool of players with access to the best training, enrichment and guidance opportunities available anywhere. Our current Pre-Elite teams continue to find success against the top teams from area clubs. Our Pre-Elite players are dedicated and talented, and have earned the right to call themselves Elite. These girls will continue to play in higher brackets in both league and tournament play. We are confident that they will have much success! Our current Premier teams often find themselves playing first or second tier teams from area clubs and are more than able to compete in this group. We are proud of their accomplishments and know that they will represent our club well as Pre-Elite players. Our current Club teams offer excellent training and our players at this level are valued members of our Select family. Girls currently playing Club are more than ready to compete with other Premier level teams in the State, and we are confident they will continue to find success as our Premier teams. 8

We hope you are as excited as we are! We are confident the opportunities provided by Select will benefit our players and continue to make South Shore Select THE destination for soccer loving girls across the state. NEW SELECT TEAM Advanced Placement (AP) Program PREVIOUSLY KNOWN AS Elite DESCRIPTION The Select AP program will be run very much the way our Elite teams have been run in the past. Players in this program should expect a very high level of commitment and soccer must come first above any other extracurricular activity. This is for the talented and dedicated player looking to play at the highest level possible. These teams compete on a National scale and are among the most competitive teams in the country. Elite Pre-Elite A high level of training and commitment is important at this level. Players are willing to participate in challenging training sessions with the goal of playing at an Elite level within the state. At this level, our soccer program will help complement and support their academic endeavors as well as their other interests. Players can expect a similar commitment to what they have experienced at the Pre-Elite level in past years. Pre-Elite Premier Our new Pre-Elite level teams are for the dedicated player looking to stay involved in the sport but not looking to commit too many off-season activities. This is a great fit for many families who still want their daughter to experience all of the great lessons they can learn from the sport (hard work, discipline, dedication, teamwork, sportsmanship as well as being a valued member of a team) without having to give up other interests. Premier Club The Premier level is a great fit for the player looking to develop through quality training and playing opportunities. We will offer an avenue for players to stay fit and sharp throughout the year. This is also a great way for our girls to stay involved in a positive and welcoming community and will continue to build their lasting friendships. Our Premier level players are valued members of the Select family and will be able to partake in many of the same programs they have in the past. 9

WHAT LEVEL IS BEST FOR MY DAUGHTER? ELITE PRE-ELITE PREMIER Select AP During tryouts our coaching staff will have a sense of where your daughter would be most successful, but the decision doesn't end there! Your family will need to determine what level of commitment you are most comfortable with. Each level requires an invitation, and your decision would be to a) accept a position on the team as offered or b) opt for a team with fewer requirements. For example, a player offered a spot on a Select AP Team might decide to accept that spot or play Elite, Pre-Elite, or Premier. A player offered a spot on a Pre-Elite team might accept that spot or opt to play Premier. We are confident that we can offer your daughter an experience that will support her development as a player and as a young woman no matter which level you play! What level is right for my daughter and our family? We have various levels of teams in our U11 and Up age groups: Select AP, Elite, Pre-Elite, and Premier Level Teams. We also have a Train Only / Alternate Level (see page 12 for details). Read through the below scenarios to get a feel for what is best for your daughter. My daughter loves soccer! She is ready to join a competitive soccer environment where she can receive quality coaching while also maintaining her commitment to other sports and extra curricular activities. Our family is happy to commit to both Columbus Day and Memorial Day weekend tournaments. Our family is ready to take the step to join a Club Soccer Program, but we aren t looking to play soccer year round. The Premier Level may be right for you! My daughter loves soccer! She is a serious soccer player who is looking to participate in high quality training and take advantage of competitive playing opportunities. She has other interests and isn t ready to commit to many off season teams or training sessions, but is happy to train one day per week during the summer and winter sessions. Our family is happy to commit to Labor Day, Columbus Day, a March Pre-Season Event, and Memorial Day weekend tournaments. The Pre-Elite Level may be right for you! 10

WHAT LEVEL IS BEST FOR MY DAUGHTER? (Continued) My daughter loves soccer! She is a talented player who is looking for high level training and commitment. She is ready to participate in challenging training sessions with the goal of becoming a high level player. She is willing to forego other activities when they conflict with her team training and to participate in multiple winter leagues and tournaments. Our family is ready to make this commitment with her, understanding that holiday weekends and vacations may be spent at tournaments and mandatory camps. We are ready to support our daughter in her quest to become a high level player and will make sure she is available for all mandatory activities including tournaments, indoor leagues, clinics and practices. The Elite Level may be right for you! My daughter loves soccer! She is a dedicated and talented player who is willing to sacrifice so that she can be a contributing member of a nationally ranked team. She is ready for challenging and intense practices, year round training and tournaments, and lots of fun! She is willing to forego other activities when they conflict with her training or other team requirements, and does so with a happy heart because there is no place she would rather be than with her team, ball at her feet. Our family is ready to make this commitment with her, recognizing that tournaments many of which involve travel will happen throughout the year and sometimes with only a few weeks notice. We are willing to commit both our time and financial resources to help our daughter pursue her goal, and do so happily. The Select AP Level may be right for you! 11
