The Bull Shooter November 2017 ELECTION OF OFFICERS: Hello White Oak Shooting Club Members. As you may or may not already be aware of, our monthly Club Board of Directors meetings are held on the third Monday of the month, at 7:30 PM, in the Club House. All members are encouraged and welcomed to attend. November 20, 2017, is our annual meeting. After our normal monthly business is taken care of, we will conduct our annual meeting. Results from our annual internal audit will be provided and our annual election of officers for the following year will take place. If you are interested in becoming an officer or director, please contact one of the current officers prior to the November meeting. BULLS-EYE PISTOL: Bulls-Eye Pistol shoots on both Tuesday and Wednesday nights and are open to the public. We are always looking for new shooters. We enjoyed having everyone that came out to shoot and/or just to help out with the matches. Hope to see everyone back next year. Seconds Count offers at the club a free basic safety class that is free and open to the public. They also offer the Utah carry permit class, the NRA Basic Pistol class, and a Defensive class for which there is a fee. All firearms are to be cased, holstered, or with actions opened with an EMPTY CHAMBER INDI- CATOR IN PLACE, magazines must be removed when moving to or from the firing line. Firearms are considered loaded when magazines are not removed. 3. Please use your firearm s safety. Safeties should be on when not firing. No exceptions. 4. Eye and ear protection is mandatory on all ranges. 5. Use only paper targets only and all targets must be placed on the designated target frames. 6. DO NOT HANDLE FIREARMS WHEN PEO- PLE ARE DOWN RANGE. (All firearms must be cleared. Slides back, magazines out, cylinders open, bolts open) AND A PUT AN EMPTY CHAM- BER INDICATOR IN PLACE. 7. No automatic firing 8. No unsafe rapid firing. 9. No cross firing. 10. You are responsible to insure all rounds fired impact the backstop, so make it a priority. 11. Your guests are your responsibility. 12. ANY UNSAFE, DESTRUCTIVE HANDLING AND FIRING WILL BE REASON FOR DISCI- PLINARY ACTION OR DISMISAL. 13. Shotgun Patterning Please bring your own cardboard for shotgun patterning. Place target paper against backstop next to target frame. Please do not fire shot shells directly at target frames. RULES AND REGULATIONS INDOOR RANGE RULES: 1. The indoor range can be used from 8:00 AM to 11:00 PM, seven days a week 2. The range is open to any 22LR pistol or 22LR rifle and center fire handgun cartridges. 3. No shotshells smaller than 00 buckshot 4. No blackpowder guns 5. No tracer ammo 6. Use paper or cardboard targets only 7. Prices for targets are posted on the target holder on the steel cabinet in the day room. The donation can is on the wall to right side of the door when entering the range. 8. All targets are to be placed on the target hangers. If you need to be closer than 50 feet move up to the 21 foot line, but the targets must be kept in the pit on the hangers. 9. No Smoking in the clubhouse 10. Check the calendar in the day room for indoor/outdoor pistol, rifle and trap events. The Bulls-Eye Pistol League shoots on Tuesday and Wednesday nights with signup starting at 5:30 PM. The first relay begins shooting at 6:00 PM. The Juniors shoot on Sunday at 4:00 PM till??? starting in January. 11. Please turn off roof fans, lights, and furnace before leaving. OUTDOOR RANGE RULES; ABSOLUTELY NO SHOOTING OUTSIDE MONDAY-SATURDAY BEFORE 9:00 AM, AND ON SUNDAYS BEFORE 12:00 NOON! During all scheduled Trap and Skeet shooting, the 25-100, 200 and 300 yard benches are closed to shooters. (Sighting in a gun is possible if you check in at the Trap building.) Trap and Skeet ranges are open for scheduled events. (No unscheduled night time shoots without Club approval.) Trap and Skeet shooting is open to all on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Sunday 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Remember: Always cleanup your mess, shoot only into backstops and do not drive on grass or ranges. Please do not destroy Club property as it is your club. 50 YARD OUTDOOR RANGE RULES: All Targets must be placed on the fifty yard line. If you want to shoot closer please move closer DO NOT MOVE THE TARGET TOWARDS THE FIRING LINE 1. The 25 yard target line is for.22 caliber rimfire and Bulls-Eye only. (With the appropriate target frames) 2. If you are shooting under the roof, make sure the kitchen window cover is in place. 3. All combat style shooting is to be done with paper targets placed only at the 50 yard target line. 4. Center fire rifle to be done using wooden frames only at the 50 yard target line. (Ricochet hazard with metal frames) 5. Use paper targets on the backstop only, no metal, cans, glass, clay, or any other type of targets. 6. Targets are in the club house by the phone or in the range boxes. 7. Please remove all targets, clean up empty brass and cases, return scopes, staples, sandbags, and any other club property to the range cabinet. FIREARM SAFETY: The 12 Golden rules for Safe Gun Handling 1. Always treat the gun as loaded. 2. Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. 3. Always keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to shoot. 4. Always keep the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it. 5. Never point the gun at anything you don t intend to destroy. 6. Be sure of your target and what is beyond it. 7. Learn the mechanical and handling characteristics of the gun you are using. 8. Always use proper ammunition. 9. Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before loading and shooting. 10. If your gun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, hold your shooting position for several seconds; then with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, carefully unload the gun. 11. Don t rely on the gun s safety to keep it from firing. 12. Beware of your surroundings when handling guns so you don t trip or lose your balance and accidentally point and/or fire the gun at anyone or anything. RANGE ETIQUETTE: 1. Always pick up your spent cases and/or shells when you re done shooting. 2. Always take down your targets when you re done shooting. 3. Always straighten up your area before you leave.
