THE ROAD AHEAD The winner of Saturday s night match advances to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament, which will take place next Friday, Nov. 20. The winner will square off against the winner of the Florida and Central Michigan match. GOING DANCING For the 25th time in program history the William & Mary women s soccer team is moving into the NCAA Women s Soccer College Cup. The Tribe earned one of the 33 at-large bids and will travel to UCF for a First Round match-up on Saturday, Nov. 14. The Tribe earns its first at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament since 2008 and its 14th overall at-large bid. Also since the NCAA Tournament started in 1982, every four-year player to don the Green and Gold has appeared in at least one NCAA Tournament. DANCING PARTNERS In a banner year for the CAA, four league teams made it to the NCAA Tournament. James Madison, which won the conference automatic bid, plays at Duke, Hofstra travels to Georgetown, and UNCW heads to South Carolina. It was the first time the league had four teams earn NCAA Tournaments. FAMILIAR FACES Despite not playing UCF since the 1987 season, there will be a since of familiarity on the Knights sideline. Head coach Tiffany Roberts Sahaydak was also the head coach at VCU from (2008-12). During that time W&M posted a 5-2-1 record against Roberts Sahaydak s VCU teams. ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM William & Mary had three student-athletes named to the CAA Tournament All-Tournament team. Senior Meghan Musgrove and sophomores Elysse Branton and Haley Kent garnered all-tournament honors. Senior Caroline Casey highlighted the Tribe s honors by being named the Defensive Player of the Year. Joining Casey on the All-CAA First-Team was classmate Nicole Baxter and junior Clara Logsdon. Sophomore Rachel Moore earned second team honors, while seniors Samantha Cordum, Leci Irvin, and Katie Johnston along with sophomore Sami Grasso earned third team citations. Freshman Mackenzie Kober earned an all-rookie team nod, while Cordum was also named to the league s all-academic squad. The Tribe s nine players were the most of any team in the CAA to be honored, while the 11 different awards were also the most in the CAA. The trio of first teamers was tied for the most in the league. Additionally, Casey becomes the Tribe s first CAA Defensive Player of the Year since 2009 when Diana Weigel won the award. NOTHING BUT CLASS Senior Caroline Casey was named one of 10 finalist for the Senior CLASS Award on Oct. 26. Casey has shined on and off of the field during her time with the Tribe. She is involved in multiple community-based activities and also made a medical relief trip to Nicaragua in the winter of 2014. The Chesapeake, Virginia native thrives in the classroom, while also being a two-time captain and All-CAA player. ALL THEY DO IS WIN William & Mary clinched its NCAA record 35th straight winning season with a 2-0 victory at Drexel on Friday, Oct. 16. The 35-winning season account for every year of the Tribe women s soccer program. FIVE FOR FIGHTING The Tribe won six straight games from Sept. 27 to Oct. 25, which accounted for its longest winning streak of the season. It also marks the fifth straight season that the Tribe has posted, at least, a five match winning streak during a single season. Page 2 2015 William and Mary Women s Soccer

TIP OF THE CAP Senior Samantha Cordum netted her first career hat trick against Northeastern on Sept. 27. She scored goals in the 15th, 60th, and 87th minutes to help the Tribe to a 3-1 victory. D, D, D, DEFENSE The Tribe has done a very good job of team defending this season, and it has shown as the Green and Gold has only allowed 15 goals this season. The Tribe has four team saves, which were credited to Ashley Booth, Leci Irvin, Sami Grasso, and Meghan Musgrove. BALANCED ATTACK Eleven different players have already netted goals this season for the Green and Gold, which matches last year s total of 11 different players to score. The Tribe has also split its goal evenly in the first and second half this season. W&M has scored 18 goals in the first half, 18 goals in the second stanza, and one goal in the first overtime. NATIONAL RECOGNITION Senior Nicole Baxter was named to the TopDrawerSoccer.com National Team of the Week for the week of Aug. 24.Baxter started in played all 90 minutes in the Tribe s season opening 5-1 victory over Seton Hall on Friday afternoon. On Sunday as the Tribe knocked off its first ranked team since 2011, Baxter played a hand in all three goals. She assisted on sophomore Rachel Moore s game-winning goal in the ninth minute, scored on a penalty kick in the 45th minute, and assisted on senior Samantha Cordum s goal in the 79th minute. WEEKLY AWARDS Caroline Casey was named CAA Player of the week for the second time this season earlier this week. She recorded a pair of shutouts in the Tribe s two conference victories over Charleston and UNCW. She recorded eight saves for the weekend, and faced 15 shots in Sunday s victory. For the second straight week, W&M had a player of the week earn CAA Player of the Week honor for Sept. 14. This time senior goalkeeper Caroline Casey earned the honor. The senior recorded five saves and helped preserve her shutout in the final moments of the Old Dominion match on Friday night. However, her best match came on Sunday as she turned away a season-high tying seven shots. She helped the Tribe defense withstand a final minute stretch of three shots and two corner kicks in the final minute. Senior Katie Johnston was named the CAA Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 7. She played 58 minutes and fired three shots, one on goal, in the Tribe s 1-1 draw against Wake Forest on Friday night. Johnston saved her best for Sunday afternoon, scoring a pair of goals in W&M s 3-0 win at N.C. State. She scored the game-winning goal in the 22nd minute. The forward added the exclamation point in the 71st minute when she registered her second tally of the match. She finished the day with a match-high five shots. Freshman Mackenzie Kober was named the CAA Rookie of the Week for the week of Aug. 24 after she scored a goal and had an assist in her first collegiate weekend scoring a goal and registering an assist in the Tribe s 5-1 victory over Seton Hall. MOVIN ON UP Senior goalkeeper Caroline Casey has started every game in goal of her Tribe career, and she is beginning to climb up the W&M record book. Her 10 shutouts this season rank her tied for second in single-season school history. The Chesapeake, Virginia native, who is also a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award, ranks third in school history with 28 career shutouts, and has 294 career saves, which rank her second all-time. 2015 Tribe Women s Soccer 2015 William and Mary Women s Soccer Page 3
