Chair Report a. Congrats to Wes Preston, USSA Freestyle Coach of the Year II. Office Report a. Financials presented III. Operations Report a. Review of new office process for registration refunds. b. USSA Freeskiing only membership creates a challenge with Eastern dues, but Larry feels we are pretty good with it. c. Larry will add a wait list per event for the B s next year. d. New A bib system for 2013-14 will issue bibs prior to first event, rather than at event. IV. ECS Freestyle Report a. Review of B one-event trial rule. i. Current rule ECS 2: Eastern Freestyle-Freeskiing allows a one-time visit to ECS to compete in a mogul and dual mogul event. ii. Current rule Eastern 4: Online registration closes three days prior to the first event of a competition and is noted on each competition s information sheet, available by clicking on the competition on the Eastern Freestyle-Freeskiing Schedule page. N. Preston: MOTION On-line registration for ECS Freestyle mogul and dual mogul events will close four days prior to the first event for ECS competitors. Online registration for EQS one-time visit competitors will open three days prior to the first event for a 24 hour as long as event numbers are below 85. Walk-in registration will be available on the morning of the event for ECS and EQS athletes, but EQS athletes may only register on the morning of the event if the event numbers are below 85. M. Preston seconds. Motion carries. V. ECS Freeskiing Report a. Strategy to increase event participation at EAST FREE Tour events i. Working Group formed to look at taking all EQS B slopestyle, air and ECS Open events and combining them to create ONE EASTFREE Tour. Working group led by Marissa Preston with Johnny Kroetz, John Kimble and Dan Shuffleton. This group will develop a draft schedule and proposals on how this change will affect EQS State Champs, as well as Junior and Young Gun Champs. This will be discussed, reviewed and finalized on the follow-up conference call on May 22 nd. VI. EQS Freestyle-Freeskiing Report a. Review of quota for Young Gun Air and Slope event at Young Gun State Champs i. Current Rule 60 slopestyle, 60 air. W. Preston: MOTION - EQS State Quotas -70 slopestyle, 50 air. Kimble seconds. Motion carries unanimously. b. Annual review of pace times i. Current Rule - EQS 14: Pace Times The pace time will be based on a speed of 7.0 meters/seconds for men and 6.2 meters/seconds for women. (May: 2011) EQS pace times will be evaluated on yearly basis at the Eastern Freestyle-Freeskiing Annual Spring Meeting. L. Titus: MOTION Adjust EQS mogul pace set calculation to 7.91 Males, 7.21 Females N. Preston seconded. 1 opposed, 7 in favor. Motion carries. (Larry to follow up with Dick Stone to adjust Winfree.) c. Review of bid proposals for EQS Champs. i. Two proposals to host the 2014 Young Gun and Junior Champs event were submitted prior to the meeting. These proposals will be emailed to EFCC members to decide whom to award EQS Junior and Young Gun Champ event to in 2014. VII. Officials Report TD and Judges a. Annual appeal for more people to get involved. Every mountain needs to have officials in the pool. Suggestion: Chief of Competition should also attend Eastern TD clinics. b. Review of pay scale for Eastern Officials i. Current Rule Pay Scale is $75-85-100 and $20 extra for more than 180 runs. No additional pay for the head judge. D. Newson: MOTION Increase Eastern Freestyle-Freeskiing judges pay scale to $150 per day for head judges, $100 a day for 1 st and 2 nd year judges, $125 for 3 rd year and above. No pay adjustment for over 180 runs. N. Preston seconds. 1 abstention. Motion carries. ii. Current Rule Pay Scale is 75.00-85.00-100.00. There is no compensation if they are required to be there for an official training day. D. Newson MOTION: Increase Eastern Freestyle-Freeskiing TD s pay scale to $75 per day for 1 st year TD s, $95 per day for 2 nd to 4 th year TD s and $120 per day for 5 th year and above. TD s required to be at training days will be compensated their regular daily rate. N. Preston seconds. Motion carries unanimously. c. Review of number of judges at events Jack feels that moving to a 3-judge panel for freeskiing events is appropriate, but reserves the right to add a fourth judge in some scenarios.
VIII. IX. d. Review the need for a TD at freeskiing events i. Tabled for Ed to address in on follow-up conference call. e. Discussion of clinics this fall and beyond i. Judges There will be two: one on Sept 28-29 in NH and one the weekend before or after in Buffalo. ii. TD Eastern Freestyle-Freeskiing TD clinic will be held the 4th week in September @ Killington. Additional clinics will also be held at other locations TBD. Coaches a. USSA Coaches clinic schedule Numerous clinics have been hosted in the East this year. We anticipate clinics this summer at Lake Placid and in Waterville. Dates TBD. Event Organizers a. Review of Pricing Structure for Events After much discussion and review, no motions resulted and we opted to remain at status quo. b. Re-alignment of EQS Regions discussion See Appendix B After much discussion, we felt we were not ready to make any motions. We want to see what the proposal from the freeskiing group looks like, talk to some more of the players and address on the follow-up conference call on May 22 nd. N. Preston.
