Chrildren s Christmas Party Saturday 10 th December. Once again this year Santa visited the excited children and grandchildren of club members. Just before Santa reached the clubhouse, after a long journey from Lapland, the children spotted him, appearing through the trees and ran to greet him and joined him on the last part of his journey. Having given presents to all the good children he then joined in the fun and games that followed... A great afternoon was had by young and not-so-young and very many thanks to all the organisers and helpers that made the day such a success! Enjoy the photos of yet another memorable day Deerpark Diary: Page 2 of 11

Ladies White Elephant Competition Tuesday 13 th December. The White Elephant Competition is an established and much anticipated event and was once again a great success this year. First of all the weather was kind and most players enjoyed their golf without getting wet! It is a lovely event at the close of the year when all players end up winning a prize, mainly donated by the players themselves! More importantly, it is a very successful fundraiser, and this year was no exception! This year the White Elephant event raised a total of 825.00. Lady Captain Marie presented a cheque to Mary Lee of the St. Lazarian s Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul who thanked Marie and all the lady club members for their terrific support. A delicious afternoon tea provided by members was followed by a general prize giving. The White Elephant Competition was won by Mary Grogan, Michelle Fanning and Margaret Costello with a fantastic score of.59 Points Well done Ladies!! Thanks to everyone who made the day so successful. Andy s Tips for Winter Golf We have all done it Arrive at the first tie with 30 seconds to spare before our tee off time, no warm up done, fingers like icicles and we re amazed we ve scratched the first 2 holes. Aside from the bad golf we also run the risk of injury, particularly in winter, without doing warm-ups. Andy has some simple warm up tips to help improve your game over the coming months To avoid injury it s always a good idea to spend a few minutes warming up especially in cold and damp weather. Give yourself enough time to stretch your shoulders and lower back properly Hit 10-15 shots into the net Have a few chips and putts also Taking these few minutes out will reduce the risk of injury and make you play better golf LAST MINUTE GIFT IDEAS FOR CHRISTMAS Gift & Lesson vouchers (Inc 3 for price of 2 winter special) New Ladies & Gents Ping & Sunderland waterproofs New Ladies & Gents Glenbrae pullovers in Stock Selection of Winter Hats & Mittens Titleist & Ping Cart & Carry Bags Bushwell GPS Rangefinder AVAILABLE IN PRO SHOP CONTACT ANDY OR SEAN Deerpark Diary: Page 9 of 11
Quote of the Month Golf is supposed to be fun, but I don't think anything is fun if you're not doing it reasonably well. Fred Couples (I think we all relate to this!) Golfing Christmas Cracker Puns For the month that s in it.. some Christmas crackers (these were unashamedly googled so we take no reponsiblity for their corniness the Eds) Your golf addiction is driving a wedge between us. I golf in the low 80s. If it is hotter than that I won t play. He wanted desperately to be a good golfer, you could say he had a driving ambition. As a golfer you have to have good fore-sight. A photographer taking pictures of golfers says watch the birdie. If you golf on Election Day, cast an absent-tee ballot. When putting, I can never catch a break. She became a golf professional to earn her bread and putter. Expensive golf clubs are par for the course. If you crash into a Volkswagen Golf, does that make a hole in one? It takes a lot of balls to golf like I do. Golf is a game where the ball lies poorly and the golfers lie well. The fact that he was a bad golfer was a fore-gone conclusion. The sound that a golf cart makes is: putt..putt..putt. To golf at your favourite course usually requires a long drive. Golfers hate cake because they just don t want to get a slice.
