CCC Welcomes New December Member Keith Davis As the Holiday season approaches, I hope you will take time to remember our dedicated, hardworking employees by donating to the Employee Christmas Fund if you haven t already. I watch these employees work tirelessly under some very trying conditions while keeping a positive attitude and a smile on their faces. We are very fortunate to have such dedicated employees. Let them know how much we appreciate them! Our annual Sports Committee Fundraiser will soon be upon us. This is a great way to come out to support your Club and have a great time. Every year we have great participation and all of the proceeds are used to pay for a needy project or improvement. Over the past two years, we accumulated the proceeds to help pay for the Member s Dining Room chairs. This year we are planning to use to the proceeds to help fund the cost for refurbishing the 2 nd 75 HP irrigation pump. This pump repair will be required next spring before we get into the irrigation season. I know this isn t nearly as attractive as buying new chairs but this last pump repair will complete much needed repairs to our irrigation system and keep our fairways and greens in tip top condition for years to come. Over the past six months, we have experienced a drop in usage of the dining room during the first two Wednesday s of each month. I think you would agree that it is not economical to staff the kitchen and wait staff only to serve 6 or 7 meals in an evening. If we have not seen an improvement during December, we will indefinitely suspend dining for the first two Wednesdays. If you want to keep dining during these nights, then please vote by dining with us in December on either the first or second Wednesday. Lastly, I would like to give thanks to each of you for your support of the leadership of the Club. Over the past three or four years, CCC has had to adapt to a tough economic environment and it hasn t been easy. The golf industry is going through a period of fundamental change in which we are told that golf consumers will want different products and services. Some of the talking heads suggest that we might have to accept cut off blue jeans and hats on backwards to keep members, let s hope not! This Board as well as future Boards, will be challenged with charting the course to navigate this new landscape but at the same time maintaining those traditions that made CCC the best course in the midlands. With your support, I know we will be successful. Happy Holidays, Bill Watkins President of CCC Board of Directors

September, October and November delivered mild temperatures with limited rainfall which created great conditions for golf here at CCC. The maintenance staff and I are taking advantage of the weather to complete projects around the course. Several small projects such as cart path edging, minor irrigation repair and grading cart paths, have been completed. Also, we will begin our winter tree removal project later this month. As a reminder, colder weather has halted any growth from the warm season turf throughout the golf course. Now it is important that we alter our cart traffic to decrease any unnecessary wear on the turf and avoid any wet areas. This will ensure everyone will enjoy better playing conditions in late winter and early spring. The staff and I would like to thank everyone for their support and wish everyone a HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON. We look forward to seeing you on the course. Season s Greetings from the Golf Shop Staff! It is hard to believe that Christmas is almost upon us. This year has flown by and 2014 is just around the corner. As 2013 draws to a close, we are working on the tournament schedule for the upcoming season. It will be here before we know it. While the schedule will remain roughly the same, the committee is considering tweaking the schedule in order to better serve the membership. So be on the lookout for information regarding next year s tournament schedule. Don t forget about the upcoming SPORTS COMMITTEE FUNDRAISER & GOLF SHOP HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE on Saturday, December 14th. The tournament begins at 10:00am with a shotgun start. The format will be Texas Scramble. This tournament is always lots of fun and provides an opportunity to raise money for a project that will benefit the club. Last year we raised $4700 to go toward new chairs in the bar and small dining room. Our goal this year is to raise another $4700 that will go toward the irrigation pump repairs. Even if you can t play in the event those interested can still donate and help support your club. Get your foursome together and sign up in the golf shop today! In conjunction with the tournament the Golf shop open house will last all day on the 14th. The shop is fully stocked with great merchandise from Nike, Ashworth, Mizuno, Under Armour, Foot Joy, Titleist and Addidas. Perfect for the golfers on your Christmas list. Be sure to stop by for some Holiday Cheer and the best buys in town. As always, we greatly appreciate your continued support of the golf shop. A bright hello to my C.C.C. Family... What an amazing Fall we are having. The weather continues to keep my mind and body sharp. Sometimes I wear T shirts and wish the pool was a little warmer and sometimes I bundle up for the cold. The holidays are fast approaching and my hopes are that everyone is gearing up for lots of food, family and love. November started with the world famous turkey scramble couples match and lots of hooting and gobbling were accomplished. Many members walked away with the illustrious BIRD! The couples matches are always one of my favorite games because it is more teamwork and skill sharing. This, of course, helps to better my game. Ladies Night Out was a blast and many vendors came to show their wares while we got to eat, drink and be merry! Ladies, YOU are amazing! There were over 35 of us present and celebrating life! Benny et al, the pizza, ziti and salad bar was delectable. There were no calories and therefore, we could buy more CABI clothing in very small sizes ;)! Now that is a fantastic fashion line! Many thanks to all the vendors that shared their merchandise. We ladies love to celebrate and what an honor to celebrate Mrs. Jackie s 50 th birthday this month. There were friends, sweets and lots of mushy talk about Mrs. Jackie. She is so loved by the members of C.C.C.! If you see her, grab her and give her a big hug OR just tell her how much you appreciate her. Upcoming events include the LGA Xmas celebration on December 3rd Tuesday at 6PM. Please sign up for your meal in the locker room. Also, remember if you would like to be part of the gift exchange, purchase a gift for $20 or less and get ready to laugh. The gift should be wrapped. Don t forget to give to our Care cause in the ladies locker room. We are still collecting for that. Kimika has a list of items to buy or you can donate money in the LGA money box in the locker room. December 14 th is the Sports Committee fundraiser and the same day there is a Pro Shop Xmas Sale. One of my favorite thangs (my Southern), is to wish the best to our birthday girls! What a great day to celebrate yourself! We have only 3 special ladies this month. Ms. Lyall Abbott and Ms. Ema Dell McMahon (our 2 Sagittarius babies) and the lone Capricorn, Ms. Sandy Beville are celebrating their births. When you see them, let them know that they are special to you. I thought long and hard about this one, but as Y all are considered family to Randy and I, I want to thank all of you for loving my Dad, Howard E Rioux Jr.. He passed peacefully this month and my family and I received many cards, flowers, calls and well wishes. The Club sent us a beautiful arrangement of flowers. You know, life is short and so precious, be kind to one another as we are all so connected and blessed in so many ways! I am privileged to know all of you! Be well and Happy Holidays for 2013! LGA President Christmas is almost here again which means so is the annual: Snacks with Santa Saturday, December 21st ~ $5 Per Child Come take a seat on Santa s lap and tell him all about what you have your heart set on this Christmas! Don t forget to bring your list everyone, as Santa LOVES to read them! Take pictures and enjoy cookies and cakes with the jolliest fella in town. Santa will be arriving from 11am and will visit with us until 2pm. A Pizza & Salad will be served from 11am-3pm. Santa needs to know how many boys and girls he will be seeing to make sure he has enough gifts for everyone, so please RSVP for this event by December 14th. Keep in mind, if you cannot attend on the 21st, Santa will also be paying us a visit from 12:30pm-2pm on December 22nd for the Holiday and perhaps you can join us then!
