LETTER FROM THE HEAD GOLF PRO This has been a very busy and active 2 ½ months for me since I joined the MeadowBrook family! I truly feel as I am a great fit for our club s atmosphere and want to continue adding value to your membership as I can promise you that our team is working very hard to identify areas to improve on and finding solutions to make our club the very best that it can be. I believe we have made great strides in improving our customer service skills and we are currently creating an outside service training regimen to provide every member with a better experience at your club. We still need your help with getting our Outside Service Staff trained effectively, on having your golf clubs already out of the bag room before you arrive and either on your push cart or on one of our golf cars. The best solution is to please notify the Pro Shop ahead of time, either when you book your tee time or once your players fully commit, with who is playing in your group. Also, if you are hosting guests, please let us know their names and how you want to take care of their fees, by letting us know if you re treating them or if they will be on their own, that way we can add notes to the tee sheet under your reservation and prevent any embarrassing moments in front of your guest. Either call us or email me your list of each player in your group, cmearns@meadowbrookcc.net. Let us welcome Charlie Keegan to our MeadowBrook Staff, he will be working for us in the ProShop on Tuesdays Fridays, during the morning. As we continue to gain new qualified employees, please continue to introduce yourself, over and over again until we all become a big happy family! Please check in the Pro Shop every time before you head to play. All play begins on hole #1, and if it s any different the Pro Shop staff will notify you during your check-in. Our PGA Apprentice, Shawn Pumphrey, will begin hosting scheduled custom club fittings & custom ball fittings during the week and as always he s there for your club repair needs as well, including re-gripping and loft/lie adjustments. He is also TPI Certified and will be hosting golf fitness sessions. Look forward to seeing him advertise all of these exciting programs soon! For more information on Golf Fitness, check out Shawn s website @ www.bgolffit.com. As we continue to improve your membership experience, please don t hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns you may have. Your opinions and support are crucial to our success. June Specials We are actively putting items in the Pro Shop s Clearance Corner, which the majority of the items are 40% OFF. Don t hesitate as inventory is moving! Tip of the Month: Golf Drill: ADJUST YOUR PATH, AND YOU LL BOMB IT Anytime you re in a rut hitting slices or hooks, try this drill I use all the time: Tee up a ball and place a ball on both sides of it. If you re slicing, the outside ball should be farther from the target than your tee ball, and the one on the inside should be closer to the target. This creates a gate for your club to swing on an in-to-out path in relation to the target line. The idea is to hit your tee shot without touching the other golf balls. If you hit the ball outside the one you teed up, you ll know you re still swinging on a slicer s path. For hooks, just reverse the positions of the surrounding balls, and you ll see a gate that promotes a slightly out-toin path. I ll hit 15 to 20 balls with the gate in whatever configuration that helps me feel the sensation for the shot I m trying to hit. It really straightens me out. If you can reduce the curve to your shots, I guarantee you ll pick up some real distance.
