KOMFORT KRUISERS March 2017 Bakersfield RV Resort WAGONMASTERS:. Bill and Adrian Armour Randy Magnusson Sue Osgood Arrived Thursday afternoon and greeted everyone. Dinner was on our own. Choices were listed but nothing was organized. A campfire was held at Brady and Joannes. Friday morning breakfast was held in the clubhouse. Rolls, fruit, and yogurt were offered. The golfers left early and most of us sat around and caught up with old friends. Although Kathy and I were golf widows again, we ended up doing a project. Kathe R and the three of us headed out to Walmart to purchase items for the horse we were going to enter at the FMCA rally in Chandler. Appetizers, as usual, were served at dinner that night. Terry and I invited everyone to enjoy our 50 th anniversary cake. A campfire was again held at Brady and Joannes. Saturday morning breakfast was catered by McDonald s. McMuffins, hash browns and pancakes were on the menu. Our meeting was next on the agenda. We learned Gary S had broken his pelvis and was in rehab. We talked to him on the phone and he seemed in good spirits. It was good seeing Richard and Dawn and hope to see more of them in the future.. First time guests were Dean and Sherron Ansley. Second time guests and voted in as new members were Jim and Lea V., Pat and Bill Z, and Mark and Debbie F. After the meeting, everyone went their separate ways. Antique shopping, trailer and motorhome shopping, sightseeing, and lunching with friends were just a few things. Maybe next year we ll get to the museum. At Happy hour Kathe R. rode our entry in the Chandler horse derby into the clubhouse. His name is Gabriel. Dress for the night was western. Golf prizes were handed out. The winners were, in a tie for fourth place Terry and Gary, and Jim and Bill. Third was Jeff and Trish, second Bill and Adrian, and first was Rueben and Steve. evening was again catered. Spicey cowboy beans, roast beef, chicken, and pulled meat was on the menu. Ice cream sandwiches and cones were dessert. A rousing game of poker and then throw the sock were played. Much laughter was heard throughout that building that night. Afterward another campfire at Brady and Joannes. Sunday morning was leftovers for breakfast. Many of us left early as we were on our way to Indio, our first stop before arriving in Mesa on Monday. Tuesday bright and early (remember we were an hour ahead at that point) we all caravanned to Chandler. There were 13 rigs in the electric section and 6 in the generators. As the generator section was A we felt a little superior over the electric group that was only in the B section. LOL just kidding. Many seminars were attended, and one that stands out was Mac, the fire guy, who managed to scare the bejabbers out of us with his fire demonstration and talk. Another memory is celebrating Rogers birthday with a surprise party put on by Maryn. The cheesecake cupcakes were scrumptious. Since everyone in Chandler knows, it s only right to let you all know. Terry and I bought a motorhome. It s a Hurricane and is made by Thor. Instead of going up like everyone else, we had to be different and went down to a 29 footer. Yikes. Where s all my junk going? We hope to have it by Puddingstone but just got a call that they have to replace the shower pan. Saturday s hat toss Saturday s hat toss One way or another, we ll see everyone in Puddingstone. THIS AND THAT Sad news. Our club has lost another member. Gary Saar passed away Tuesday, March 14. It was a shock as we had just talked to him on the phone in Bakersfield. Terry called about the missing photos for Hemet but we have never heard back from them. Sitting in a bar having drinks with a friend I casually pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and said that s us in 10 years. She said that s us, you dip shit. You re looking in a mirror Wrinkles mean you loved, gray hair means you cared, and scars mean you lived. At my age rolling out of bed is easy, getting back up off the floor is another story. Easy way to hang a picture When trying to hang a picture or mirror on a screw or nail on the wall, place the spikes of a fork over the screw or nail with the handle pointing up. Then slide the picture wire down the fork and remove the fork. Jim R. BALLOON FESTIVAL IN ALBUQUERQUE The dates are October 5 th through October 15 th Entry to the balloon grounds on 10-5 or 10-6.
