The WUKF rules regarding kata and kumite can be downloaded from www.wukf.org TEAM KATA Although team kata is not in this event UWK England will send kata teams to the UWK World Championships next year (date to be confirmed). These will be wild card entries drawn from member organisations based on performances at the forthcoming UWK England approved ranking tournaments run by FEKO, AMA and KE. They will be selected by the Executive following the KE event in April 2019. COMPETITION GUIDELINES Entry forms must be signed by the official Association President or coach only. Entry forms without a signed declaration, will mean that the athletes w i l l not be permitted to take part in the championships. Only the official member group may send in entries unless permission is given by the member group to a club to enter direct. The entry forms must be completed fully. The first events start at 9am and will be Boys & Girls Kata and then Snr Kata. Boys & Girls Ind will commence from 1100hrs followed by Mini Cadets & Cadets & Snr Individual. Snrs will not commence before 1200hrs. Cost of entries: All Individuals 15 per event. Check category list for the correct category number. The minimum number of competitors per event category and the cancellation of events is at the discretion of the organisers. The event is only open to UWK England members or groups invited by the UWK England committee. Competitors are not allowed to move to a category higher than the one in which they are eligible to enter. In Kata the competitor must only compete in one style as per WUKF rules. Full amount to be sent with entry form, before 6 th November 2018. COMPETITORS CANNOT MOVE UP TO AN HIGHER CATEGORY - No late entries on the day. All clubs are asked to bring a Referee/Judge or a Time Keeper/Recorder whose names must be entered on the officials slip above. Refreshments will be provided for their services. All officials should contact the Lead Commission Referee Mr Azad Kumar before 6 November 2018, to get an update of any changes to the rules: Only the official coach on duty that day may approach the control table for any queries, competitors all spectators must go via their coach for information. Spectators entry fees are 8 and 6 which you pay at the Spectators entrance where you will receive a numbered wristband. Spectators must not pose has coaches, and must not be on the control side of the areas. There are no cameras or video equipment allowed on or around the mats or again on the control table side of the areas. If you are to use a Camera or Video Recorder it must be from the spectator area you must apply for a pass, giving your Name and address so we may register it for use. A pass will be allocated once we have this information. There will be a small charge, which is 5. This must also be sent with the entry form. This fee is purely to cover costs of admin. All competitors must be fully insured and must have their licences at hand to be checked on the day if required. All competitors should be aware that the events are run to rules based on WUKF. Slight amendments by the Organisers and Chief Referee may be necessary for a safe running of the championships. Competitors event tickets will be in use on the day and will be required when a competitor registers at the tables for each event. The event ticket will bear the event category and the area designated for that category. Competitors must check all details their coaches immediately on receipt. Any spectator/competitor or coach infringing the above rules will be asked to leave the sports hall. No refund will be given, and the name of the club concerned will be reported to their association Executive. Shikkaku may be invoked when a contestant or delegations act in a way which harms the prestige and honour of Karate-do. We do try to run events to time but unfortunately all competitions do experience slight problems. Everybody s help and attention is needed on all the above points, so that everyone may enjoy a safe and enjoyable day. Rules of Kata and This is a summary of rules for the tournaments that has been created using WUKF guidelines. :, SHOBU SANBON and SHOBU NIHON events WILL be used from WUKF system. Sanbon and Ippon may be entered by an individual.

To explain the scoring system, if time is not an issue & dependent on the event, (IPPON, NIHON or SANBON), then the bout is terminated when the score reaches 1 IPPON, or 2 IPPONS or 3 IPPONS. In all events, the highest maximum individual score that can be given at any one time is IPPON. The lowest score that can be given is a WAZA-ARI., also the table scoring system has been adopted from WUKF, whereby a WAZA-ARI. = 1 point & an IPPON. = 2 points (on the score boards). All events will be run with a Referee, Flag Judges or Mirror Judge & Arbitrator. Arbitrator can assist in the decision-making process. Competitors will wear a RED belt (AKA) & WHITE belt (SHIRO) to identify themselves during the events. Every event the competitor MUST wear a gum shield (except when a face mask is worn). Foot protection is not permitted, shin protectors are optional. Hand mitts MUST be worn (and be the same colour as the belt i.e. red or white). The timing of bouts will be the same as stated in the WUKF rules, but can be subject to change, depending on how the competition is running. Kata: events will run as per the POINTS system. Round 1 will be scored from 5.0 to 7.0 (average 6.0). Round 2 will be scored from 6.0 to 8.0 (average 7.0). Round 3 (final round) will be scored from 7.0 to 9.0 (average 8.0). Ist round is Shitei, 2nd round Shitei or Sentei, 3rd round Shitei, Sentei or Tokui. Must not repeat Katas except below* *Categories KA7, KA8,KA21,KA28,KA29,KA42 may repeat their Kata in rounds 1 & 2. Their 3 rd or Final kata must be a different kata. * In Kata events, it is permitted to wear the belt in which the competitor is graded. If a problem arises on the day of the competition only the Head coach may approach the chief referee. If the Head Coach is not satisfied with the Chief Referee s answer there is an appeals process that can be followed (official protest wrote down and signed by the Head Coach, then handed to the Chief Referee with the fee of 50. Then an appeals jury will be selected of the most senior Referees at the competition. They will then look at the protest and review all relevant information about what it concerns and make their decision. If the protest is upheld the originator will get to find out and receive their 50 back. If it is not upheld they will be informed and the 50 will go towards all admin fees for the protest.) The Chief Referee s decision is final on matters arising (unless done through the appeals jury then their decision is final)

Red & White hand mitts and Red & White Belts must be provided by the competitor for bouts. Gum shields, clean w hite g i s are compulsory (No T- Shirts or Kick Boxing Type Equipment is Allowed). Face masks & Body protectors for the children 12yrs & under are compulsory. A competitor must use their own & be in good condition. Kata will be maximum 3 x rounds and minimum 2 x rounds (depending on numbers). will be WUKF Shobu Sanbon unless stated, i.e. Shobu Ippon. 12yrs & under Individual will be Shobu Nihon. Categories that have 4 or less: entries may be combined or run as a round Robin at the discretion of the organiser. Repechage may be used to select a 3rd or joint 3rd in the.
