AMA CHARTER No. 312 MARCH 2006 SMRCC - SHAWNEE MISSION RADIO CONTROL CLUB P. O. BOX 9512 SHAWNEE MISSION, KS 66201 From your Club President This warm weather is starting to get us thinking about the balmy days of summer and getting the airplanes out of the hanger. OK, spring comes first. It's time to check those batteries and replace questionable ones. Along with working on planes we will also be working on the field. At the last meeting we voted to form mowing teams to help with what has previously been a two or three person labor of love. Of the members at the meeting 85% signed their names on a list to be on a mowing team. This is a call to service. If you did not sign up please email me at antiquegolf@earthlink.net with your name and phone number so we can add you to the list. We will divide the list into teams of three and assign each team a week to mow and trim the field. What day each team meets at the field will be up to that team. This is a big responsibility and one I know we as members of SMRCC will be diligent to discharge. Along with the responsibility of the field work each team member will need to be instructed on the use and care of the equipment before using it. This is mandatory and especially necessary for the riding mower. There is a place to put oil, hydraulic fluid and gas in the old girl and she does not like fluids put in the wrong place. I want to mention one cardinal rule now. The blades must be stopped and the deck lifted before driving across any of the petromat runway material. If you do not do this the mower will generate enough vacuum to suck up the mat into the blades and do damage. This will also happen at the edges of the mat as you mow along those edges. I know this will be reiterated at the equipment orientation but it is worth mentioning here. Mark your calendar for the 7th Annual City Wide Fly to be held on September 16. We want to make this the biggest and best yet. Get your AMA renewed and send Neil McNeill your dues for 2006 so you are all set for the action this year. It is your support that keeps our Club on the map. Don't miss the fun. Fly fast and live slow.
