Page 3 CO2 District Competition On May 19, the MMJH Concepts of Engineering and Technology students competed in the District CO2 competition. They tied with MRJH for first place overall. This was accomplished by a sweeping the Big Block design competition. Rylie Reid got the heroines started early by earning 1 st place holding off some stiff competition with her nearly flawless replica of the Lightning McQueen car from Disney s Cars. Our students also won 2 nd place in the Big Block design competition. Addy Aliaj stepped up and put a mighty dent in the scoring with her Dog Riding on a Surfboard car. Zach Rivera and his finely detailed Jurassic Park Jeep, complete with LED head and taillights, capped off the sweep of the Big Block Design competition by taking 3 rd place. The rare feat of sweeping this competition put a dagger into the enemy. Finally Caroline Masha finished off the evening by taking 2 nd place in the Wedge Block Design Competition with her Pac Man themed car. Congratulations to Mr. Bergstrom and these students for their terrific work! Also competing in the event were Steven Lee, Riley Grubb, Faris Putra, Sheryl D souza, Megha Bali, Isabelle Schulte, Will Li, Michael Orechoneg, Caleb Lea, Namson Pham, and Zach Bernstein. 7th Grade Girls Soccer Team Wins District! The 7th grade Lady Bobcats claimed the district title over the weekend. This was punctuated by a dismantling of a strong Beckendorff Junior High side. Once again Casey Sorkness got the heroines started early and after her brace (two goals in a game) on Friday night against WMJH she continued her scoring barrage in the 5th minute of the first half as she strategically positioned herself with a back post run and tapped in the game s opening goal. The good guys soon thereafter won a corner kick. Ciara Mitchell stepped up and put a mighty left footed in-swinger into the back of the onion bag. The rare feat of scoring directly off of a corner kick put a dagger into the enemy. McMeans 2-0. Hannah Hustle Paight and her blazing speed capped off the win on a breakaway goal professionally slotted past the keeper. McMeans 3-0. It is truly fitting that in the finale of our season the first season that our 3 goals were scored by 3 different players. This exemplifies the culture that our ladies created. Our mantra was keep getting better. And they did. Peaking at the perfect moment. The end of the year to display our pièce de résistance. Everyone contributed. We were all solitary bricks in an otherwise insurmountable wall, held steadfast by hard work hustle and determination. Coach Keim couldn't be more proud of their efforts and the reward they earned. Please congratulate them for the incredible season! Go Lady Bobcats!
