Myers Stadium and Soccer Field TV: Longhorn Network Stats: texassports.com GAMEDAY STORYLINES SOONERS (6-6-2 overall, 2-2-1 Big 12) Head Coach: Matt Potter (Seventh season) LONGHORNS (10-2-2 overall, 2-2-1 Big 12) Head Coach: Angela Kelly (Seventh season) THE BATTLE FOR THE BIG 12 The Sooners are locked in a five-way tie for fourth place with a 2-2-1 record and seven total points. The Sooners have played three of the other four teams in the tie, holding a 1-1-1 record against those teams. With the Big 12 tournament just three weeks away and only the top eight teams advancing, it will be a fight to the finish to see where OU will end up. OU still has games against West Virginia and Baylor on the schedule, both of whom are tied for first place currently. The top eight teams in the Big 12 are within striking distance of taking the regular season title and the last four games of the season will be crucial for everyone. WEEKEND RECAP OU dropped a 1-0 decision to the TCU Horned Frogs last Friday night in double overtime at John Crain Field. With five minutes to go in the second overtime period, the Sooners were called for a handball at the top of the 18-yard box, setting up a free kick for TCU. Despite a great effort to save the shot by OU goalkeeper McKinley Crone, TCU s Yazmeen Ryan was able to convert the free kick to give the Horned Frogs the golden goal victory. The Sooners best scoring opportunity of the night came on a corner kick in the 59th minute. Freshman Megan Reilly sent a great kick to the far post, finding junior Kristina O Donnell perfectly FANTASTIC FRESHMEN The 2018 freshman class has made an incredible impact since arriving on campus. Hailey Davidson leads the way with four goals, while Megan Reilly and Lauren Tovy have each added one goal apiece. Reilly and classmate Olivia Smith have each recorded a pair of assists and Davidson has added one of her own. Of the 11 members of the 2018 signing class, seven have seen action this season. RECORD PACE Senior Marissa McMahand has been an important piece to this year s squad, assisting on six goals this season. McMahand tied the school record with three assists in one game against Illinois State on Aug. 24. She is now just two assists away from tying the single-season record of eight, set in 2005 by Lauren MacIver. McMahand s six this season is currently tied for fourth in program history. 2018 STATISTICAL COMPARISON OKLAHOMA TEXAS OVERALL RECORD 6-6-2 10-2-2 HOME 3-3-2 7-0-0 AWAY 2-3-0 2-2-2 NEUTRAL 1-0-0 0-0-0 CONFERENCE RECORD 2-2-1 2-2-1 GOALS 23 30 ASSISTS 18 33 POINTS 64 93 SHOTS 164 214 CORNER KICKS 50 71 SAVES 75 41 SHUTOUTS 3 4 GOALS ALLOWED 17 11

Through 13 games OU has posted 23 goals for a 1.77 goals per game mark. In 2017, the Sooners tallied just 13 goals all season. The offensive surge has been primarily due to five goals from Kaylee Dao and four goals each from Hailey Davidson and Ivanna Rivas. OU has posted more than three goals in a game twice this season, earning a 7-1 victory over Illinois State and a 4-1 victory over San Francisco. ON THE BOARD With 14 games down, the Sooners have only been shut out twice all season. It s the sixth time in program history that OU has been shut out less than three times by the 14-game mark. Only the 2003 and 2010 teams have a better mark, being shut out just once in the first 14 games. MATCH BASICS The Oklahoma soccer team will head to the University of Texas to take on the Longhorns Friday, Oct. 12, at 7 p.m. CT. The game will air on the Longhorn Network and the WatchESPN app. UP NEXT The Sooners will play their final two home games of the season when Iowa State and West Virginia come to town. OU and ISU will kickoff at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, while OU and WVU will kickoff at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 21. PREVIEWING TEXAS Texas is 10-2-2 on the season and 2-2-1 in conference play. The Longhorns split their weekend, picking up a win over Iowa State and taking a loss to West Virginia. Against ISU, Texas took the lead in the 15th minute, but allowed a goal just 57 seconds later. A goal in the 87th minute would push the Longhorns past the Cyclones to give them the victory. On Sunday, Texas almost took down WVU, but allowed two goals in the last 15 minutes and dropped the match 2-1. The Longhorns have tallied 30 goals on the year, allowing just 11. Cyera Hintzen leads the team with 10 goals on the season and is tied with Katie Glenn for the lead in assists with six. In goal, Nicole Curry has made 40 saves and posted four shutouts in 1258 minutes of work. STREAK SNAPPERS When OU traveled to Texas A&M on Aug. 31, it was walking into a battle with a team that had yet to concede a goal in 2018. The Aggies had outscored opponents 12-0 before that night, recording 360 minutes of scoreless play. In the 42nd minute, freshman Hailey Davidson ended the streak at 402 total minutes with her second goal of the season. The Sooners also held A&M scoreless at the half, becoming the first team to hold the Aggies off the board in any half of play this season. HEAD COACH MATT POTTER After six seasons at the helm of the Oklahoma soccer program, head coach Matt Potter has begun to see his vision for the team take shape. A proven leader and builder of successful programs, Potter arrived at OU in December 2011 with the goal of positioning the Sooners as one of the nation s elite soccer teams. The 2017 season saw the Sooners post a 3-13-4 record, recording shutouts in all three draws, including ending Texas perfect season. Junior Paige Welch earn the Big 12 Soccer Scholar Athlete of the Year and Kaylee Dao was named to the All-Big 12 First Team after leading the team with four goals on the year. Fourteen Sooners were named to the Academic All-Big 12 team, with four athletes posting 4.0 GPAs. Sunday, Oct. 14 TCU at Kansas State (12:30 p.m. - Manhattan, Kan.) A program-record six Sooners earned Big 12 accolades, including Rachel Ressler (first team), Liz Keester (second team), Jemma Cota (second team), Tori Bowman (second team), Paige Welch (second team) and Kristina O Donnell (freshman team). Redshirt senior goalkeeper Kassidie Stade set the school standards for both single-season and career shutouts with nine and 20, respectively. In 2015, the Sooners reached the 10-win mark for the second consecutive season and recorded their first undefeated home record in program history. Against UTSA, the Sooners scored eight goals, matching the school singlegame record, while junior Caren Nelson recorded just the third hat trick in OU history. Potter led Oklahoma to a breakthrough season in his third season at the helm of the program, returning OU to the NCAA Tournament and helping the Sooners break the 10- win mark for the first time since 2010. Potter guided five players to All-Big 12 honors: Devin Barrett (Tournament), Madeline Brem (Tournament), Abby Hodgen (Tournament), Lizzie Luallin (Newcomer) and Laura Rayfield (Newcomer, Tournament). Potter led Oklahoma to a 7-9-4 record in his first season as head coach, the most wins by a rookie head coach in Sooner history.
