President s Message Dear Fellow Members, As the New Year begins, Cimarron and Kellie are working hard to book events for our clubhouse and course. The schedule is filling up quickly with several new events and repeat business from last year. This is a testament to the condition of our course and the staff s ability to run first class tournaments and events. I would like to thank everyone involved for the continued effort to make sure that our members and guests are satisfied. As our current membership numbers are low, we will be making a big push to attract more members to our Club. The newly formed membership committee, headed by Gib Carpenter, has 896 begun work on the 2005 MCC Membership Drive. We will update the membership on the progress of the program and as always, we need your help in promoting and recruiting new members! As for outside events on the course, we are being more aggressive to make sure we can maximize revenue without interrupting member play. Please check the calendar so that you can plan accordingly with these events. Each of you can help by bringing out guests to enjoy our wonderful course. As I mentioned last month, 2 guests a month for 8 months of the year will increase cash flow and improve our financial position. I am proud to be the Club President and confident that our management team and membership will succeed in making Maumelle the best Country Club possible. See you at the Club. Your President, Royce LoBianco Membership News February is the month not only to celebrate special relationships, but also new and lasting ones. Help the Club form new relationships by providing me with names of prospective members. It s easy to do and MCC will benefit from our current Members taking the time to help provide information on potential new Club Members. Give me a quick phone call, send me an e-mail, ksadler@maumellecc.com or drop by the Club to tell me about someone you think would make a great addition to our Membership. I will be more than happy to follow up on any leads you may have. This is a wonderful time for you to invite your friends and co-workers to join in all the exciting events planned for 2005. With warmer weather just around the corner, golf will get into full swing before we know it. We encourage you to bring guests to enjoy our beautiful course. Show your support for the Club and make plans to attend the many exciting upcoming events! Happy Valentine s Day! Kellie Sadler Welcome New Members! Manager s Message A special thank you to everyone that attended the MCC New Year s Eve party. Once again, the staff did a wonderful job on the décor and food. I think everyone who attended would agree that it was a huge success. It s not too late to sign up for the Super Bowl party on Sunday, February 6th. There are a few squares left on the board, so stop by the Club and get signed up! This is one of the biggest events of the year Don t miss out! Make plans now to attend the Valentine s Day celebration on Saturday, February 12 th. Chef Tony and the Entertainment Committee have selected a wonderful menu to accompany the jazzy saxophone style provided by Michael Eubanks. Reservations will be taken between the hours of 6:30 p.m. 8:30 p.m. Also on the agenda is the annual MCC Mardi Gras Celebration. This will be held on Friday, February 25 th from 6:00 p.m. 10:00 p.m. Chef Tony & the staff will prepare several of your Cajun favorites and Star DJ will be providing the entertainment. These are the only menu items that will be served that night and reservations are required by February 22 nd. One catch to this event you must come in costume! Don t worry if you don t have any party wear, it will be provided for all who attend. The cost is $10 per person / $20 per couple and covers party favors, costume masks and entertainment. Reservations are required. Call Kellie at 851-1033 to sign up for these events! MCC is proud to announce that Bruce Baxley, Assistant Golf Professional, has been chosen as January Employee of the Month. Bruce has been with the Club for two years. He is actively working towards his PGA membership through self-study courses, education seminars and hands-on training. Bruce was chosen by the department heads because of his teamwork, attendance and willingness to go the extra mile to help in every department. Thanks for a job well done, Bruce! I am happy to announce that Jackie Pace, former kitchen employee, will be returning to the MCC family on February 1 st. Her knowledge and cooking style will compliment the current kitchen staff. Be sure to come out and welcome 1531 Jackie back to the club. Once again, it is your support that will make 2005 a great year! Be on the lookout for new dining specials, incentive programs and information on all upcoming events at the Club. So please continue to frequent the Club and help in the recruitment of new members, because that is the key to our success. Cimarron Grubb General Manager MCC Employee of the Month BRUCE BAXLEY Assistant Golf Professional Congratulations Bruce on a job well done! From all the staff at Maumelle Country Club

From the Pro Shop Just a reminder, all carts are to remain on the cart path for the remainder of the winter months. Those who require a handicap flag, please check with the Pro Shop on restrictions. Also, remember to repair your ball marks and take your sand bottle with you and fill your divots when hitting from the fairway. Thanks for your cooperation and let s keep our course beautiful! The Super Bowl Scramble & Party will be held on Sunday, February 6 th. The tounament field is full and this promises to be a fun event. If you have not purchased your square on the Super Bowl board, you must do so to participate in the party! By now, everyone should have received the 2005 event calendar. This will continue to change throughout the year and we will keep you posted on all changes and new events. Also, remember to fill out your information card that you will receive with your January statement. Return this card by February 28 th and your name will go into a drawing for a free pair of Foot-Joy golf shoes compliments of your PGA Professional. The first MGA event is scheduled for February 26 th. The format for this event will be a standard Four- Man scramble and after the round, chili & cornbread will be served to all MGA participants in the Men s Locker Room. Cimarron, Bruce & Nick. Turf Talk w/ Terry Package Guest Fees: 12 Guest Fees $420.00 plus tax *Package Guest Fees may be purchased during the month of March. The packages are good April 1 through October 31. Unused guest fees become void on November 1. Each member may purchase one package per year. The guest must play with the member who purchased the package. 2004 ASGA & AWGA HANDICAPS BILLINGS Your 2005 Handicap fees will be on your February 28 th, 2005 billing. If you do not want this service for 2005, please contact the office prior to this date. The Handicap Fee is $20.00. Unfortunately, the late fall and winter have been dominated by poor weather and record precipitation. This has certainly affected the amount of projects golf maintenance has been able to complete. We ve spent the majority of our labor hours repairing bunkers that wash from heavy rains and on general course maintenance typical of a wet year. Hopefully, the weather will be drier in February and March and allow the completion of the river-line cleanup and the scheduled irrigation and landscaping projects. In addition, the record precipitation has rendered the golf course 2492 very wet and our ability to accommodate flags has been limited. Golf Maintenance appreciates your patience and understanding as we await much drier weather and fairways. The wet weather has also affected the pre -emergent applied last fall. For this reason, the first spring pre-emerge was moved from the first of February to the middle of January. This should keep additional poa from germinating as well as kill the poa that came up early. The second pre-emerge will follow in March. As noted on the pro shop door, the ball washer refurbishment program has begun. The goal is for all of the ball washers to be repaired and back on the course this spring. Terry Spurlock Golf Course Supt.

MGA News The 2005 MGA Board of Directors held their first meeting of the new year on January 20 th. The agenda was to set the formats for all MGA dates and to elect the officers for 2005. The dates and formats will be available to you on the 2005 Golf Calendar and the officers are as follows: President Tim Pipkins Vice President Todd Holcomb Secretary Mark Stanley Treasurer Bill Collins Board Member Bill Page The Directors have selected events that will be appealing to all handicap ranges and have even added a new Friday Evening event that promises to be a great time for all involved. Just a reminder, there has been a $5.00 increase in the monthly MGA entry fee. This increase will add to the prize money pool and allow the MGA to donate more money to golf course related projects. The 2005 MGA Board of Directors would also like to thank 2389 outgoing President, Don Hudak and his board for the great job over the past 3 years. A special thanks to all the members who supported the MGA in 2004. Let s strive to increase participation and make 2005 a great year! Tim Pipkins MGA President MWGA News Mark your calendars now for our first play day of the season, Wednesday, March 2. We will have a 10:00 a.m. shotgun scramble with the meeting to follow.
