President s Message Dear Fellow Members, As the New Year begins, Cimarron and Kellie are working hard to book events for our clubhouse and course. The schedule is filling up quickly with several new events and repeat business from last year. This is a testament to the condition of our course and the staff s ability to run first class tournaments and events. I would like to thank everyone involved for the continued effort to make sure that our members and guests are satisfied. As our current membership numbers are low, we will be making a big push to attract more members to our Club. The newly formed membership committee, headed by Gib Carpenter, has 896 begun work on the 2005 MCC Membership Drive. We will update the membership on the progress of the program and as always, we need your help in promoting and recruiting new members! As for outside events on the course, we are being more aggressive to make sure we can maximize revenue without interrupting member play. Please check the calendar so that you can plan accordingly with these events. Each of you can help by bringing out guests to enjoy our wonderful course. As I mentioned last month, 2 guests a month for 8 months of the year will increase cash flow and improve our financial position. I am proud to be the Club President and confident that our management team and membership will succeed in making Maumelle the best Country Club possible. See you at the Club. Your President, Royce LoBianco Membership News February is the month not only to celebrate special relationships, but also new and lasting ones. Help the Club form new relationships by providing me with names of prospective members. It s easy to do and MCC will benefit from our current Members taking the time to help provide information on potential new Club Members. Give me a quick phone call, send me an e-mail, ksadler@maumellecc.com or drop by the Club to tell me about someone you think would make a great addition to our Membership. I will be more than happy to follow up on any leads you may have. This is a wonderful time for you to invite your friends and co-workers to join in all the exciting events planned for 2005. With warmer weather just around the corner, golf will get into full swing before we know it. We encourage you to bring guests to enjoy our beautiful course. Show your support for the Club and make plans to attend the many exciting upcoming events! Happy Valentine s Day! Kellie Sadler Welcome New Members! If you do not want this service for 2005, please contact the office prior to this date. The Handicap Fee is $20.00. Unfortunately, the late fall and winter have been dominated by poor weather and record precipitation. This has certainly affected the amount of projects golf maintenance has been able to complete. We ve spent the majority of our labor hours repairing bunkers that wash from heavy rains and on general course maintenance typical of a wet year. Hopefully, the weather will be drier in February and March and allow the completion of the river-line cleanup and the scheduled irrigation and landscaping projects. In addition, the record precipitation has rendered the golf course 2492 very wet and our ability to accommodate flags has been limited. Golf Maintenance appreciates your patience and understanding as we await much drier weather and fairways. The wet weather has also affected the pre -emergent applied last fall. For this reason, the first spring pre-emerge was moved from the first of February to the middle of January. This should keep additional poa from germinating as well as kill the poa that came up early. The second pre-emerge will follow in March. As noted on the pro shop door, the ball washer refurbishment program has begun. The goal is for all of the ball washers to be repaired and back on the course this spring.
