We ll do nominations in November and vote in December, so be sure to be there on those weekends. All of your current officers are stepping down, it s time for new help with new ideas to step up..! Sad to say we lost a truly great cowboy this month. He was always there with a smile, and sometimes with a paint brush too. Pap was always willing to help out whenever he could. Pap we sure will miss you. Kenneth R. McDaniel (1945-2012) LONE STAR FRONTIER SHOOTING CLUB WEBSITE www.lsfsc.com FROM The CVV President By Billy Bob Evans SASS# 53658 Hi all, I have several things to talk about this month. The State Wild bunch match went off without any major problems and every had a good time. There were 30 shooters and even with the rain everyone had a good time. In fact I have received several emails saying how good it was. One shooter sent this I wanted to extend my thanks for the great match and warm reception by all the hard working folks at CVV. So thanks to everyone who helped with the match. As it turned out we ended up with 31 door prizes one more then we had shooters. I will do a drawing for those who helped with the match for the last door prize, and it is a front site gold plating (for a 1911) donated by Summer-fall Winter-spring. As you may have heard CVV will be hosting the Halloween match this year - Ghost of Showdowns Past. The registration form is at the end of the news letter, you can mail it to me or register at the match. This also falls on the same weekend as our normal monthly match. Because of our agreement with the land owner when it comes to big matches, if someone only want to shoot one day they can but I will need to charge you what we pay the land owner.

Rob Stewart) 214-632-5780 hondarob2003@yahoo.com BILLY BOB EVANS CONTINUIED I have been asked by several people to setup some stages to be more like what you will find at Comin At Cha. I will try to have a mix of fun stages and Comin At Cha stages. During the Wild Bunch match I overheard some people talking about a fundraiser done a another match to raise money for the Wounded Warrior organization. They put a bucket at each stage and if you wanted to you can dump your empty brass in the bucket and then at the end of the match the brass from each stage was auctioned off with the proceeds going to the Wounded Warrior organization. They told me they raised a little over $150. I think it is a good idea and would like to try it at the Halloween match. If it works and it is ok with every one, I have the option of donating the money through the company I work for, if I do they match donations 2 to 1, so if we raise $100 they will add $200 to it for a to total of $300. Last as you know Lone Star and CVV elections are this December. We all know how hard it is finding replacements for officers who are not coming back. If both clubs were to lose a large number of officers at the same time it would be even harder to find replacements. I would like to propose that CVV members extend the term of our existing officers by one year, all our officers have agreed to one more year. This would stager the election making it easier for both clubs to find replacements. With our October match being the Ghost of Showdowns Past match, I will put this up for a vote at our November match.
Words from the MEMBERSHIP COORDinator By Rio Hondo Rob It's Fall! My favorite time of the year for CAS at Ormsby Ranch. Not only are the mornings cool, the shadows long, but with some rain, the stream and the waterfall start flowing just to the east of the new Kat's House stage. Git on down and bring a friend you want to introduce to Cowboy Action Shooting. Get ready for the Halloween match "Ghosts of Showdowns Past", Oct. 27-28. It is a great warm-up prep opportunity for "Comin-at-Cha", the SASS Southwest Regional Championship, at the Badlands Bar 3, Nov. 1-3. Towards the end of the year, I update my CA News forward lists. You are on the forward list if you are not a member of LSFSC or CVV but you want to receive our monthly CA News on your e-mail. Drop me an e-mail, hondarob2003@yahoo.com, and let me know if you want to stay on a forwarding list, especially if you have not been down to Ormsby Ranch for a while. I will be purging my list of names that we have not heard from for more than 9 months. So please let me know if you are still interested. Southwest Regional Black Powder Championship The Bayou Bounty Hunters are hosting the Southwest Regional Black Powder Championship at Hangin' at Coyote Creek on November 9th, 10th, 11th. We will be offering both black powder and smokeless categories. Long range, cowboy skeet, and side matches will be on Friday and the main match will be shot on Saturday and Sunday. We have shaded RV parking with some spaces providing electrical and water hookups. (Reservations for these spaces can be made at this time.) Hotels accommodations ar e located in nearby Amite, LA which is 10 minutes from the range. Come out and enjoy a great weekend of cowboy action shooting! The Historic Granbury Gunslingers (HGG) is an association of Living History Educators, Entertainers, and Reenactors dedicated to the preservation of the American Old West. Our circa is 1860-1890's ~~ the era of the American Cowboy and Cowgirls, and all that came with them. The troupe performs two shows on the second Saturday of each month in the Granbury Town Square. We also do "Jail and Bail" during the various city celebrations, private functions, charity events, Reenactment competitions, and if we are real lucky, get invited to be an extra in Western movies. What is required? All HGG must become a member the Reenactment Guild of America (ARC), be willing to purchase period clothing and firearms, abide by all safety rules, and most importantly...to have fun! If this sound like something you may be interested in, please call or email Rick Wolf a.k.a. "El Loco Lobo" for information on becoming a HGG.
