We had great showings both Saturday and Sunday and I certainly had fun. On Sunday, we had a Duelist/Hammer Gun Grudge Match between myself, Cowhand, Long Ranger Rick, Eli Hawk and Chula Kat. And the winner was.cowhand! He whooped us all good AND finished 3rd overall. That hermunculous was on a holy terror! For those who don t know, a hermunculous is defined as a tiny, perfectly formed human being per Sheldon Cooper on the TV show Big Bang Theory. Cowhand even had the fastest stage of the day with an 18.45 clean! That s outstanding for a duelist shooting heavy black powder loads. For those of you who haven t shot a hammered shot gun, you are missing a treat. They sure are fun and provide a new dimension. Come join us one of these days for a grudge match someone will let you use their hammer gun if you don t have one. Or grudge match someone yourself simply challenge them to finish better than you for a match you don t even have to be in the same category. It s fun and gives you a chance to rib someone while they are shooting without anyone thinking you re being disrespectful it s all for fun anyways. FROM The CVV President By Billy Bob Evans SASS# 53658 On the third week of this month we will be hosting the Wild Bunch championship, all is going well and the saying goes I think we have all our ducks in a row. I am not planning to have an official work day before the match, but some of us will be out there the Thursday before the match to get things ready. Anyone wanting to come out to lend a hand would be welcome. I plan to be there no latter then 10:00 AM. Also this month Lone Star will be holding a Wild Bunch match for those who want to get a match in before the championship. Showdown it is planned for the third weekend in October and we have set the cost at $45. I do not have a signup sheet and have been thinking of handling it like we do our normal monthly matches and just signing up the day of the match. We will shoot 10 stages, 5 on Saturday plus side matches and 5 on Sunday, plus a man on man side match. We already have some nice door prizes. So plan a good time and a lot of shooting.

ROCK ROTTEN Continued Bear in mind, the challenger is supposed to bring a prize offering in case he or she gets beat it doesn t have to be anything special. Those of you who went to Christmas in July in Abilene witnessed yours truly having to fork over an expensive bottle of tequila to Texas Slim since I challenged him to a grudge match at End of Trail. Got my butt whooped, but it definitely made him shoot better. I, incidentally, shot pretty well that weekend too. Bent Barrel Betty has gone and challenged me to a grudge match at Shootin in the Shade coming up Labor Day weekend. That one s gonna be a tight race. I encourage everyone to pay attention to current events; particularly, the pending signing of the UN Small Arms Treaty sitting on our president s desk. A document he has already said he will sign. The progressives will try and sneak this one through but they are in for a tough fight. Unfortunately, so are we the people. Make no mistake; the Small Arms Treaty is nothing less than an international gun grab that will lead to outright confiscation of our firearms. It is a sinister plot on the sovereignty of our nation and cannot be allowed. There are many elements of the treaty that will further erode our precious liberties. We call ill afford to lose any more of those. Another sinister plot, being billed as benign by our government is the Real ID Act. This proposed legislation requires a uniform Identification Card for every individual in the United States. Interestingly, most state s Driver s Licenses adhere to most of the standards for ID s as required by Real ID. But to make it an official requirement across the board is not in our best interest. Many suspect it is merely the beginning of the Mark of the Beast. Former President Ronald Reagan said so much when they tried to get him to buy into the idea. He, of course, refused to sign. Notice I capitalized the P for this guy. Summer s all but over. The kids have returned to school and the weather should start cooling down soon. That s when it gets real nice to shoot. Feel free to dress cool while the weather s still hot. We ll have some work days soon. Chula Kat sure would like to get that kitchen finished. We need to remove some old material and build a couple new stages. We ve had some really good ideas and have a general design method in mind but we haven t settled on any particular themes such as a school, train station, etc. I think we may have to draw up a couple quick designs/pictures and put it to a vote. If you d like to promote your idea, make a drawing or take a picture of something similar. Now, wish me luck at Shootin in the Shade. Got two to whoop. Bent Barrel Betty and that brother of mine Stumpman. Now get out there and exercise your 2nd Amendment rights!
