Brown scored 18 points in a victory over North Dakota on Dec. 13 and followed up with 15 points in a win over Akron on Dec. 16. Heavy Load: NDSU s starting lineup carried a heavy load in the 55-46 win over Akron on Dec. 16. Normal starter A.J. Jacobson was out with a knee injury for NDSU, and his replacement Paul Miller was battling a sickness and unavailable. The Bison used only seven players, with freshmen Evan Wesenberg and Brian Ishola combining for seven minutes in the first half. Lawrence Alexander, Carlin Dupree and Kory Brown played all 40 minutes, Chris Kading played 38, and Dexter Werner played 35 after making his first career start. Home vs. Away: In six NDSU road games this season, Bison opponents are shooting 46 percent from the field. In eight games in Fargo, Bison opponents are shooting 40 percent. At the Line: Lawrence Alexander is a perfect 23-of-23 from the free throw line in the final five minutes of games. As a team, the Bison bump their free throw percentage from 72 percent to 78 percent in the final 5 minutes. Iron Man: Lawrence Alexander is playing an average of 38.4 minutes through 16 games this season, ranking him fifth in the nation in minutes. The senior guard has played all 40 minutes in 8 of the last 14 contests. Over 114 career games, Alexander has averaged 34.9 minutes second only to Ben Woodside (34.9) among all Bison players since 1999. Home Cooking: Kory Brown is shooting 60 percent in home games this season. Dupree s Big Game: Sophomore guard Carlin Dupree scored a career-best 16 points on Dec. 3 at Southern Miss, with 14 of his points coming in the second half. Tied the Record: Lawrence Alexander drained seven three-pointers at Southern Miss on Dec. 3, tying the NDSU single-game school record that is now shared by eight Bison. Senior Steps Up: Alexander already has six games this season with four or more three-pointers. He only had three such games over his first three seasons combined. Wins Leaderboard: Alexander has 78 wins as a Bison. He needs to play in 5 more NDSU victories to become the winningest player in school history. Mike Felt (2009-14) owns the NDSU record with 82 career wins. The Mayor Goes Downtown: A.J. Jacobson connected on a career-best five threepointers in NDSU s victory over Montana State. Jacobson made four treys in the first eight minutes of the second half and finished with 15 points. Outside Shot: With an 11-of-23 effort from beyond the arc on Nov. 30 at Montana State, the Bison made double-digit threepointers in three of their first six games. NDSU shot a season-best 50 percent from the field and 47.8 percent from three-point range against the Bobcats. Half-Dozen Blocks: NDSU sophomore forward Dexter Werner registered a careerhigh six blocks in NDSU s win over Minnesota- Crookston on Nov. 25, tying him for the second-most in a game in school history. It was the most blocks by a Bison since Jordan Aaberg also recorded six against Green Bay in 2009. Dishing It Out: Lawrence Alexander s 383 career assists rank him No. 6 all-time at NDSU. Two Great Years: With 50 victories over the 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons, the Bison had the most successful two-year stretch in program history. Last Year: With an overall record of 26-7, NDSU finished the 2013-14 season 32nd in the official NCAA RPI -- an all-time high mark that it also reached in January. The Bison also received a No. 3 ranking in the final College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 Poll, marking the highest ranking in program and Summit League history. Shooting Prowess: NDSU won the Division I team field goal percentage title for the 2013-14 season at 50.5 percent. Out of the 351 D-I teams, only the Bison were above 50 percent. Every Game: NDSU senior guard Lawrence Alexander has started all 114 games in his career. Experienced Junior: Kory Brown started 65 games for the Bison prior to his junior season -- an all-time NDSU record he shares with teammate Lawrence Alexander. Preseason Honors: NDSU s Lawrence Alexander was named to The Summit League s preseason first team, while junior Kory Brown earned a spot on the preseason second team. Richman s Résumé: David Richman has been a member of the NDSU coaching staff for four 20-win seasons, as well as producing 12 all-league players and seven of the top 16 scorers in NDSU history. In all, the Bison are 170-104 (.620 win percentage) in his nine years as a full-time member of the staff. Title Talk: NDSU swept The Summit League s regular season and tournament titles for the second time in school history in 2013-14.The Bison also earned the league crown outright in 2008-09. School Record in Wins: Last season, NDSU matched the school record of 26 wins set in 1924-25 and 2008-09. NDSU has reached the 20-win mark four times in its 10-year Division I history. Departed Senior Class: NDSU is coping with the loss of six Bison seniors who combined to play in over 660 career games and log over 13,300 minutes, scoring more than 5,500 points and grabbing more than 2,300 rebounds.
