New Hampshire lost their fourth straight game and didn't score until they were already behind 5-0. The B-Mets earned a critical game in their quest to pull away for the second playoff spot in the Eastern League's Eastern Division. Fisher Cats starter Scott Barnes took the loss, allowing six runs on 12 hits and fanning five in 4.2 innings. Catcher Derrick Chung drove in three runs, matching a career high. TODAY S STARTER: Austin Bibens-Dirkx gets the ball for New Hampshire on Saturday to begin the doubleheader. The righty from Keizer, Oregon beat Erie 8-3 on Sunday, allowing one run in seven innings. He struck out seven. The 30- year-old Bibens-Dirkx is 5-6 with a 4.88 ERA with New Hampshire this season In the nightcap, Luis Perez will get the start for New Hampshire. This marks the first time this season (and the first since 2013) that Perez has made a start. The lefty is 1-1 with a 3.72 ERA in 24 relief appearances for the Fisher Cats this season. FLORES HOMERS, SCHIMPF STARTS NEW STREAK: Jorge Flores homered again Wednesday night in Reading, one night after hitting his first Double-A home run. Flores, an Eastern League All-Star, had last homered with Class A Lansing on June 23, 2013 at Dayton.Ryan Schimpf had matched a franchise record by homering in four consecutive games August 14-17. His home run Wednesday night moved him into the Eastern League lead with 18 HR. Schimpf is New Hampshire s career leader in homers with 64. He has 110 pro homers dating back to 2009. He has spent his entire career in the Blue Jays August by the Numbers organization after being drafted in the 5 th round of the 2009 draft (LSU).New Hampshire has now matched a seasons-best with homers in six straight games. The team has hit 84, good for second best in the EL behind Reading, which has hit 87. NOW THE WEST IS DONE: The Fisher Cats have finished play against the six Western Division teams with a disappointing 15-22 record. New Hampshire finished with a winning record against Harrisburg (5-1) but lost the season series to the other five teams in the West. New Hampshire is 44-38 (.537) against the East. FISHER CATS ALUMNI REPORT Kevin Pillar doubled and scored a run for the Toronto Blue Jays in their 9-2 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Friday night. Brett Lawrie singled twice and scored the only run for the Oakland Athletics in their 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday. Lawrie is batting.266 this season. Adam Lind singled, doubled and scored two runs, helping power the Milwaukee Brewers to a 10-3 rout of the Washington Nationals. Lind now has 25 doubles and a.286 batting average on the season.
