The Rocky Mountain Carriage Club www.rockymountaincarriageclub.org 2018 Carriage Tracks June Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year. Hey, more time to drive! FROM THE EDITOR: The weather is warming and the grass (and weeds) are growing tall. I hope this finds all of you well and getting ready for a marvelous season of driving. Your Board is working hard to plan many fun and educational opportunities. As always, volunteers are needed and greatly appreciated. When you look at the calendar, even if you won t be driving in the event or you are BRAND NEW to this sport, please consider coming to help out. If you don t have clue what to do; no worries; there will be people there to initiate you into the world of driving. My soon to be driving horse is still in the beginning stages of her career and I know she won t be ready for many of the events happening this year. But instead of feeling sorry for myself, I plan to jump in with boots on the ground to help out those who do have horses ready! I hope to be able to rub elbows with fellow members who may not be able or ready to be in the cart. I know from my early years of driving, being a volunteer and/or navigator/groom, I learned so much simply by being among the competitors/participants. So, rub on the sunscreen, find a wide brimmed hat, fill a large thermos with ice water, wear comfortable shoes and come join the fun!!! SPEAKING OF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Two marvelous chances to get some training and practice in a relaxed atmosphere with no pressure to be experienced. 1) CDE clinic (part 4) is in need of people to come help. June 9, 9:00-3:30 (or any part of) at the Canino s @ 10024 Lookout Road, Lafayette, CO. Please contact Nancy Bruckhauser at 303-776-6246 for more info. 2) FUN HDT, July 8, (7:30-until end); at the Canino s; contact Nancy B as above, for details and to volunteer. Please consider volunteering if you are not driving!! RMCC Board of Directors As of the February 17 th Boarding meeting, the RMCC Board is now complete for 2018. ROCKY MOUNTAIN CARRIAGE & HARNESS Harness & Carriages Mini to Draft Jack Bloss Carriage Association of America Certified Driver 30 year of experience Driving, Training & Showing LESSONS * HARNESS FITTING * CORRECT VEHICLE SIZING * CLINICS * DRIVING HORSE EVALUATIONS See his Harness and Carriage Catalogs at: www.rockymountaincarriagesales.com FOR LEASE Basil: a 39 silver dapple Shetland Pony/Miniature Horse with a friendly great attitude Lease can include all his equipment (harness & carriage) His owner, Beatrice, describes him below: I trained Basil to carriage drive about 7 years ago when he was around 5 years old. Prior to that he was a rescue with very little training. We competed in Combined Driving for four seasons and did very well. I stopped having time for him a couple years ago, so he's a little out of practice, but will make an excellent carriage pony again with some more miles. He's a hard-working little guy, although a bit on the lazy side until he's in shape. Basil can sometimes be feisty, so I wouldn't recommend him for a total beginner, but a newer driver with a trainer would be just fine. He's great for the vet and farrier and goes barefoot. Gets along with other horses, although he's at the bottom of our totem pole here at home. He's given pony rides at a few parties, is totally fine with dressing up in costumes and doesn't spook much at all. He even knows a few tricks! Lease can include his harness and carriage(s). Inquire for more information I am mostly interested in him getting exercise and having fun again. Please contact Beatrice Rudolph at pegasirider@gmail.com. Page 14
