BERMAD, Control Valves for aterworks & Industrial Applications At te eart of BERMAD s waterworks activities, covering every water supply and distribution system application, is te BERMAD 700 Series line of control valves and its ig-pressure version, te 800 Series. Developed by BERMAD's creative engineering and based on cutting-edge tecnologies, tese Series offer a variety of control features from pressure reducing, relief and sustaining; troug level, pump, surge, flow and burst control; to solenoid and electronic control. Optimally designed and expertly integrated by BERMAD engineers into systems providing just te rigt models and configurations, te BERMAD 700 & 800 Series control valves meet every national, regional, and municipal water supply need, as well as te special needs of industrial facilities, ig-rise and public buildings, and luxury otels. For National, Regional and Municipal Distribution Networks, system design and operation starts wit careful examination of expected flow and pressure ranges, te parameters tat determine major system components, including pump stations, reservoirs, supply lines, water treatment plants and desalination systems. Tese components are ten integrated into pressure zones wit leakage reduction means, to ensure a continuous, reliable and smoot supply of water troug an efficient and cost-effective network. For Industrial Facilities, a reliable, uninterrupted supply of water is vital. en production processes rely on a ig flow of ig-quality water at a constant flow and temperature, any interruption or deviation can be devastatingly costly. ere fire azards are in close proximity to workers, expensive equipment, or residential areas, absolutely reliable large-scale, self-supply, backup systems are a must. 2

ig-rise Buildings ave unique requirements, wic must be taken into account wen designing and installing teir water supply and distribution systems. BERMAD solutions give careful consideration to issues suc as: ile single source supply is common, supply cut-off is unacceptable. ater damage in a ig-rise building can be extremely costly. Valves are often located in close proximity to prestigious residential and office space. Te main supply line is exposed to increasingly ig ead at lower zones. A multiplicity of systems requires integration and control. Maintenance personnel are not always skilled wit control valves. uxury otels ave all te special requirements of ig-rise buildings, wit te additional requirement of catering to ig-water-consumption facilities suc as jacuzzis, spas, swimming pools, artificial waterfalls and fountains. Tese systems typically andle aggressive water wit corrosive materials, wile needing to operate very accurately under low-pressure conditions. Any system failure is a breac of customer service, wic in te ospitality industry is totally unacceptable. All te above systems require a multitude of valves wit a variety of control features, construction materials and pressure ratings. BERMAD s double-cambered 700 and 800 Series control valves are built from optimal materials to provide long-term operating reliability under extremes of pressure, wile allowing easy inline maintenance. Te culmination of BERMAD s experience and know-ow, te 700 and 800 Series ensures a smoot and reliable water supply, wit efficient and integrated system operation backed by BERMAD s professional engineering support. 3 BERMAD is a world leader in its field wit major market sares in Nort and Sout America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia. Te breadt of BERMAD s activities, troug its subsidiaries, representatives and customers, allows us to stay close to our markets, continuing to increase and develop one of our most important assets - te accumulated know-ow covering a range of systems, applications, and ideal solutions customized to every need. Tis catalogue is intended to be a useful working tool for project investors, consulting engineers, construction supervisors, installation contractors, and maintenance personnel.

ydraulic Control Valves Basic Valve Te basic Model 700/705 diapragm-actuated and te 800/805 piston-actuated valves are ydraulically-operated, globe valves in eiter te standard oblique (Y) or angle pattern design. Eac valve comprises two major components: te body-seat assembly and te actuator assembly. Te actuator assembly is unitized and is removable from te body as an integral unit. It consists of bot an upper and a lower control-camber. Eac basic valve can easily be configured, on-site, eiter as a single-camber control valve (Model 705/805), or a double-camber control valve (Model 700/800). Te saft sub-assembly, in bot single and double-cambered versions is center-guided, providing an unobstructed seat area. Diapragm Actuated Valve Te Model 700/800 Basic double-cambered valve operation is independent of valve differential pressure since te line pressure actually serves as te actuator differential pressure. Tis develops maximum power, ensuring immediate valve response. Te upper control-camber is pressurized to close, and vented to open te valve. Te lower controlcamber is usually vented to te atmospere, but can also be pressurized to power te valve open. Te Model 705/805 Basic Valve uses valve differential pressure to power te actuator open or closed. Te lower control-camber, wic serves to cusion te closing of te valve, is exposed to te downstream pressure, troug a fixed orifice connected to te downstream side of te valve. Te pressure in te upper control-camber varies, usually resulting from te combined action of a regulating pilot and a fixed orifice. Tis varying pressure modulates te valve to open or close. Te Basic ydraulic Valve is available in a wide range of materials, sizes, pressure ratings, and end connections. Single or double-cambered versions are used as te main valve in all 700 and 800 Series applications. Piston Actuated Valve 4

arge Diameter ydraulic Control Valve ydraulic Control Valves 24-32 (600-800 mm) arge Diameter ydraulic Control Valve Te Best of te Biggest BERMAD 24, 28, 30, 32 700 Series Control Valves are ydraulically operated, diapragm actuated globe pattern valves. Te valve is comprised of two major components, te body assembly and te actuator assembly. Te actuator assembly is removable from te body as an integral unit. It consists of two control cambers, an upper and a lower. Te actuator can be converted on-site from single to double-cambered actuator and vice-versa according to te required control function. Servo-Ceck - te actuator can be equiped wit an independent action, non-slam ceck feature. Applications arge-scale pumping systems National and municipal distribution networks Reservoir and dam level control arge-scale industrial applications All 700 series applications: Pressure-reducing, Pressure-sustaining, evel-control etc. 13,000 m3/ Pressure-Reducing & Sustaining Station 5

Principle of Operation ydraulic Control Valves On-Off Modes Closed Position ine pressure applied to te upper control camber of te valve creates a superior force tat moves te valve to te closed position and provides drip-tigt sealing. Modulating Mode Pressure Reducing Models Open Position Discarging te pressure in te upper control camber to atmospere or some oter lower pressure zone causes te line pressure acting on te seal-disk to move te valve to te open position. Powered Open Position ine pressure is applied to te lower control camber as pressure in te upper control camber is vented. Tis, togeter wit te line pressure acting on te seal-disk, creates a force tat powers te valve to te open position. Closed Position Te closed adjustable pilot valve traps line pressure in te upper control camber. Te resulting superior force moves te valve to te fully closed position and provides drip-tigt sealing. Modulating Position Te pilot valve senses line pressure canges and opens or closes accordingly. It controls te accumulated pressure in te valve upper control camber, causing main valve to modulate to an intermediate position and maintain te preset pressure value. Open Position Te open pilot valve releases line pressure from te upper control camber. Te line pressure acting on bot te lower control camber and te seal-disk, moves te valve to te open position. 6 * All text written above is valid for bot 700 and 800 Series.
