General Information Eligibility Downriver men and women 50 years of age or older residing in one of the 18 participating cities within Wayne County. Registration The Registration Form and Event Payment Form must be completed and submitted to your local Senior Center or post marked by June 30, 2016. If you do not have a Senior Program in your area, call Wyandotte at 734-324-7275. No late entries will be accepted, No event changes will be permitted, and No on-site registrations will be accepted. All registration fees are non-refundable. T-Shirts Your $6 registration fee will include a T-Shirt. Please indicate your size on the registration form. Team Events Team events include a partner in Tennis, Pickleball, Bridge, Golf and Dance. You must list your (1) partner and they must register individually, listing you as their partner. All other events will be a blind-draw on site. Awards Medals will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners. There may be ties, subject to event chair. The Golf competition will also have medals for the Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin. Confirmation Senior Coordinators will receive confirmation letter for all their participants showing the events in which they are entered. Senior participants should check with their Coordinator for rules, T-shirts, maps, events registered details, banquet tickets and additional information. Unity Awards Banquet Recognition of Olympic participants, medal winners, and sponsors will be Friday, July 29, 2016 at Crystal Gardens 16703 Fort Street in Southgate. The Unity Awards Banquet is open to all Olympic participants and adult guests. Tickets are $15.50 per person. Please check the appropriate box on your Registration form. Equipment All Equipment will be provided for all events with the exception of Golf, Bowling, Tennis and Pickleball. Inclement Weather and insufficient Registration In case of inclement weather, the Downriver Senior Olympic Board reserves the right to cancel or postpone events. In the case of insufficient registration; if a minimum of four (4) participants are not registered for a single event, it will be cancelled. Persons will be given the option to move down a category of an event that was cancelled due to lack of participation, but they may not move up in age division. Age Categories Class A: 50-59 Class B: 60-69 Class C: 70-79 Class D: 80 Class E: 85+
2016 Downriver Senior Olympics Registration Form Please complete the information on the registration form and include all fees. A separate form must be completed for each individual registrant. When selecting events, check the event schedule for possible conflicts. We recommend that you do not select two events scheduled for the same time. Medical and Liability Waiver I, the undersigned participant, agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Downriver Senior Olympic Games and the City of Wyandotte, hereafter sometimes referred to as sponsors, their agents, employees, representatives, volunteers and assignees, from any and all actions or claims of whatsoever kind or nature which I, or my representatives or assignees may have; or at any time in the future have, as a result of any injury arising out of my participation in the Downriver Senior Olympic Games. I warrant and represent to the sponsors that I have prepared myself of the events which I have entered by practicing the same prior to my participation in the Downriver Senior Olympic Games. I warrant and represent that I am in good physical health and condition and that I am physically able to compete in the events that I have selected. I know of no physical restriction whatsoever which would prohibit my participation in the events that I have selected. I recognize and understand that the preparation and the competition may necessitate strenuous physical activity, and could possibly activate any unrecognized pre-existing cardiovascular disorder which I may have, thereby resulting in serious or life threatening physical harm to me. The Downriver Senior Olympic Games has my permission to have a physician treat me (if needed) during my participation in the events of the Downriver Senior Olympic games. I also understand that the entry fee paid by me is non-refundable.
