Sport Premium Funding Background In April 2013, the government announced new funding of 150 million for physical education (PE) and sport. This funding should be used to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision. Funding will be allocated to all maintained and state-funded schools with primary aged pupils, including: primary, middle, special and non-maintained special schools, academies and pupil referral units from 1 September 2013. Annually, all Schools with 17 or more primary aged pupils will receive a lump sum of 8,000 plus a premium of 5 per pupil. Ofsted inspecting primary school PE and school sport: new funding briefing report published January 2014 P.E. and School Sport is an important part of school life at Osmotherley Primary School. We believe that P.E. and sport contribute to the holistic development of our children as healthy and well rounded individuals. Through participation, our children develop and learn more about key values such as respect, co-operation, team work and consideration for others. Our aim is to develop lifelong interests in sport and health which are enriching and fulfilling. With the money we have been allocated so far, we have been able to Up-skill teachers to improve the quality of PE lessons We have bought in a specialist PE teacher/co-ordinator to provide: a programme of professional development for our staff.
