The Department of Defense does a great job in training our military for combat However, they don't train them to deal with the traumatic effects of combat. Fairways for VVarriors has developed a program that helps with this transition and is saving lives, saving marriages, and reuniting families. The combat veterans and their families need the camaraderie and support they had while in the military. Problems that our combat wounded veterans face when returning home: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) Traumatic brain injuries (TEl) Physical challenges from loss of limbs, back and knees issues, etc., but even without physical injuries the mental trauma can be even more difficult to overcome Isolation Loss of military support Loss of camaraderie with fellow soldiers Loss of career Drinking & drug use and 22 veterans commit suicide every day in the U.S It is extremely difficult to transition from military to civilian life when you have all or most of the issues above from combat.. Documented benefits of golf to help veterans acclimate and recover include: Physical Health Benefits Cognitive Health Benefits Emotional Health Benefits Social Health Benefits Please see published articles regarding the benefits of golf to help with PTSD: https: / ("",,,w.pga.org( articles! next-basic-training- % E2%80% 93--hmA,'-gol -serving-our-vererans http://w.. /w.norlliamptonvallevcountrvciub.com/golf-can-help-ptsd-sufferers-get_;back-on-the-course / http:// www_veteransresources.org/?016/ 031 golf-helps-vef:erans-ptsd-deal-svlnprod1s 1 #. Healing Unseen Wounds About Fairways for Warriors(Mission) Fairways for Warriors is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that was founded in 2010. Our mission is to help combat wounded warriors with their mental and physical rehabilitation. We define a combat wounded warrior as anyone who has served in a combat theater whether a physical injury was sustained or not. We have found that the invisible wounds are usually more difficult to overcome. We welcome combat veterans from any era and have many Vietnam veterans in our program. We use the game of golf as one of the ways to accomplish our mission. Fairways for Warriors has averaged 93% of the money donated going directly to our combat veterans and their families. We need help from corporations, foundations, charities, and individuals to help with the large number of combat veterans and families that are joining our program. In 2017, we have had 240 new combat veterans join Fairways in Florida. We now have 639 combat veterans on our roster.

Additional Program Highlights We create a community where the combat veterans and their families know that help is available for all their life challenges - being available 24/7 to talk, meeting the veterans for lunch or coffee, playing golf when they are having a bad day, helping each other with childcare, yard work, or moving. This reflects the same community veterans had in the military.
