Djokovic leads the head-to-head 2-0, but this will be their first meeting on hardcourt. Djokovic enters the final on a 17-match winning streak (tied for the longest this season with Federer and Nadal) and is 26-1 overall since the beginning of Wimbledon. This rich vein of form will propel the Serbian star past Roger Federer to the No. 2 ranking on Monday, putting him back in the Top 2 of the ATP Rankings for the first time since 11 June 2017. Djokovic aims to maintain his perfect record in Rolex Shanghai Masters finals, having gone 3-0 in the championship round in Shanghai with wins in 2012 (def. Andy Murray), 2013 (def. Juan Martin del Potro), and 2015 (def. Jo- Wilfried Tsonga). A fourth triumph will break his tie with fellow three-time champion Murray for the most titles in tournament history. Moreover, a 32nd ATP Masters 1000 title would put him just one trophy behind Rafael Nadal in the all-time ATP Masters 1000 title leader list. Djokovic has been impenetrable on serve during the event, winning all 37 of his service games during the week. Coric s first-ever ATP World Tour Masters 1000 final comes at the tail end of a breakthrough season where he made his first ATP Masters 1000 semi-final (Indian Wells), his first fourth-round showing at a Grand Slam (US Open), and his Top 20 debut (on 2 July). After defeating Federer in the Halle final earlier this year to become the youngest champion in that tournament s 26-year history, 21-year-old Coric beat Federer again in the Shanghai semi-finals on Saturday, and now has a chance to become the youngest champion in this event s 10-year history. Since losing the opening set to Stan Wawrinka in the first round, Coric has won nine straight sets this week, and claimed two wins over Top 5 opponents this week (Del Potro via retirement and Federer), improving his record against Top 5 players to 8-14 before facing another Top 5 player in Djokovic in the final. In the Rolex Shanghai Masters doubles final, two teams who qualified for the Nitto ATP Finals this week will battle for the title. Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares became the third team to qualify for London after their quarter-final win on Thursday, while Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo joined them as the fourth team to clinch a spot following their semi-final victory on Saturday. With that milestone out of the way for both tandems, the frequent rivals can focus on winning the Shanghai final. The two teams have evenly split their six meetings, which have all come in the last two years. 2018 ATP MASTERS 1000 WINS LEADERS Both singles finalists (in bold) are among the Top 3 wins leaders in ATP Masters 1000 tournaments this season: W-L Best Result 1) Alexander Zverev 22-7 Champion Madrid 2) Novak Djokovic 19-6 Champion Cincinnati 3) Borna Coric 18-7 Finalist Shanghai 4) Rafael Nadal 17-1 Champion Monte-Carlo, Rome, Toronto 5) Juan Martin del Potro 15-5 Champion Indian Wells Kevin Anderson 15-7 SF Madrid, Toronto

ROLEX SHANGHAI MASTERS: DAY 7 MEDIA NOTES Saturday, 13 October 2018 Qi Zhong Tennis Center Shanghai, China 7-14 October 2018 Draw: S-56, D-28 Prize Money: $7,086,700 Surface: Outdoor Hard ATP World Tour Info Tournament Info ATP PR & Marketing ATPWorldTour.com RolexShanghaiMasters.com Richard Evans: revans@atpworldtour.com Twitter: @ATPWorldTour @SH_RolexMasters Press Office: craig@crosscourt.com.au Facebook: @ATPWorldTour @RolexSHMasters TV & Radio: TennisTV.com NO. 2 RANKING AT STAKE BETWEEN FEDERER, DJOKOVIC The No. 2 ATP Ranking is on the line Saturday at the Rolex Shanghai Masters between top seed and reigning champion Roger Federer and the hottest player on the ATP World Tour, Novak Djokovic, who comes in with a 16-match winning streak and is 25-1 since the beginning of Wimbledon. If Djokovic advances to his fourth Rolex Shanghai Masters final or Federer does not defend his title, the Serb superstar will move from No. 3 to No. 2 in the ATP Rankings on Monday. The last time Djokovic ranked No. 2 was June 11, 2017. This is the first time in the tournament s 10-year history there are two players 21 & under in the semi-finals with Alexander Zverev (21) and Borna Coric (21). Both are appearing in their first Shanghai semi-final. This is the second ATP Masters 1000 tournament this season with two semifinalists 21 & under. In Madrid in May, Zverev and Denis Shapovalov (19) reached the semi-finals. In the opening match, No. 4 seed Zverev looks for his second win in as many meetings against Djokovic. The German star, who became the fifth qualifier for the Nitto ATP Finals on Friday, won the previous meeting 64 63 in the final of ATP Masters 1000 Rome last year. If Zverev gets to his first Shanghai final, he would join Hall-of-Famer Marat Safin (2-0) and Nick Kyrgios (2-0) as the only players to post multiple wins and no losses against Djokovic. Zverev leads the ATP World Tour this season in overall wins (49) and in ATP Masters 1000 events with 22. The 21-year-old German is the youngest semi-finalist in the tournament s 10-year history. Djokovic is 3-4 lifetime in Rolex Shanghai Masters semi-finals and when he s reached the final he is 3-0. He has not been broken this week, holding all 29 service games while Zverev has held 29 of 30 service games. In the next match, Federer brings a 2-1 head-to-head record against Coric, who is trying to reach his first career ATP Masters 1000 final. The young Croat won the last meeting 76 36 62 in the final of Halle on June 24 for his biggest career title. Federer won the first two meetings in 2015 Dubai and ATP Masters 1000 Indian Wells in March, both semi-finals. At Wimbledon, both Djokovic and Anderson were coming off five-set semi-finals that lasted more than five hours. This time around, neither player has dropped a set en route to the Shanghai quarter-finals. Three weeks after Djokovic won Wimbledon, he teamed with Anderson for the first time and reached the doubles quarter-finals at ATP Masters 1000 Toronto. Much is at stake for Djokovic, who is gaining ground on No. 1 Rafael Nadal in the ATP Race to London and No. 2 Roger Federer in the ATP Rankings. Djokovic will pass Federer in Monday s rankings by reaching the Shanghai final or if the Swiss does not win the title. Federer faces No. 8 seed Kei Nishikori in the quarter-finals, with the winner to meet either No. 13 seed Borna Coric or Matthew Ebden in the semi-finals. Ebden is appearing in his second ATP Masters 1000 quarterfinal. His first quarter-final came seven years ago as a 124th-ranked qualifier at 2011 Shanghai. No. 4 seed Alexander Zverev will become the fifth qualifier for the Nitto ATP Finals if he defeats No. 11 seed Kyle Edmund or if Nishikori loses to Federer. Zverev is 3-0 against Edmund on the ATP World Tour. Before they turned pro, a 16-year-old Zverev beat an 18-year-old Edmund in the 2013 Roland Garros boys quarter-finals. Another win over Edmund would give Zverev 49 victories this season, breaking a tie with Dominic Thiem for the most on tour. Zverev has reached the quarter-finals or better at six ATP Masters 1000 events in 2018 and 10 since the start of 2017.
