Your hair must be pulled back, and you should wear performance make up. What GPA do I have to have from first semester to be eligible to try out? You must have a 2.5 (weighted or non-weighted) GPA from first semester to be eligible to try out for the team, have passed all classes from the previous semester, and currently be passing all classes. Candidates must attach a copy of their current grades. Once on the team, KSHSAA rules indicate that you must pass at least five classes to be eligible to perform. What if an injured person would like to audition for the team? You are required to provide a doctor s note describing your injury and stating that you may not do any activity. Additionally, upon being able to participate, you will be provided with a video containing a routine and you would have three days to learn the routine and you would then try out on the fourth day. The last day for an injured dancer to tryout is the last day of school. Scoring (Sample score sheet available): 60% tryout points and 40% observations by coaches during the clinic will select members. The judging panel will consist of 3-6 judges with solid dance background. What can I expect if I am chosen as a member of the Golden Girls? Being a member of the Golden Girls is an enormous commitment. Our season begins with dance camp in June and Band Camp in August. During the school year Golden Girls rehearse every morning (except Thursdays) at 7:00 am until the end of first hour and on most Saturdays throughout the school year. Golden Girls will be required to attend 2 conditioning session per week after school on predetermined days from 3:15-4:00. Every member must be in our two team routines, and will have the option to try out for our extra team routines and Nationals Team. Your financial commitment for the year will be approximately $850. A $200 deposit is due at the new team meeting in March. You and your parents will be asked to sign a contract stating your commitment to the team at the beginning of the year. A sample contract is included in this packet. You do not need to sign the attached contract; it is there so that both you and your parents are clear on the guidelines for Golden Girl membership. Important 2018-2019 Dates: Tryout Routine Camp 5/30-6/1 Dance Team Union Camp--date TBD (possibly first 3 weeks of June) Band Camp (July 30 th -August 3 rd )

Additional Team Opportunities Tryout Routine Information Golden Girls are guaranteed to be in our two team routines, and will have the option of trying out for our two tryout routines. Nationals Team The Golden Girls will be attending Dance Team Union nationals in February 2019 in Orlando, Florida How will the dancers be selected? Day 1: Dancers will learn approximately 20 seconds of both routines. We will then hold a tryout (on day one) for a spot in the piece(s). Day 2 & Day 3: Once the dancers have been selected, we will use day 2 to teach one routine, and day 3 to teach the second routine. Dancers must be available on the day of tryouts and the day we learn the routines. No late tryouts will be allowed. What will the time commitment be? We will use our practice time already worked into the 2018-2019 schedule to clean and perfect these routines. Cost ~$1,300 How will the dancers be selected? Following team tryouts in the spring, the dancer and her family will have the additional choice of electing to tryout for our Nationals Team. The dancer will perform our nationals routine in front of a judging panel of 3-6 judges with solid dance background. What will the time commitment be?
