May 7, 2018 Dear Rising 7 th Grade Parents, On behalf of Head Coach Richard Williams, I would like to encourage your rising 7 th grader to join the ESD Eagles Football Program! As the head coach of the 7 th grade team, I am looking forward to the 2018-19 season and I would love the opportunity to teach and instruct your son in competitive football. It is a 12 week commitment, beginning August 15 th and concluding on November 2 nd. I truly believe football enhances your child s best educational experience, because the game teaches trust among peers, a commitment to team and it builds strong character. These are foundations to adolescent growth and I firmly believe in them. This is my 4 th season in Coach Williams program and my 20 th season coaching at either the varsity or junior high school levels. Before arriving to ESD in 2015, I coached varsity football for 14 seasons at Bishop Verot High School in Fort Myers, Florida. Assisting me on the 7 th grade team this season is Jason Harkey. Coach Harkey will enter his 3 rd season as a middle school football assistant, teaches 8 th grade Mathematics at ESD and is on the ESD Track & Field coaching staff. I am also employed at ESD, as the Director of Facilities. Since Coach Harkey and I work at ESD, we will be able to have daily interactions with your child throughout the school year. We will get to know them very well, as they continue through their 7 th grade year. If you are already committed to joining the football program in August, I would like to encourage your son to be active this summer in all activities. I encourage multiple sport athletes and I believe in supporting the endeavors of all athletic teams at ESD. I will be sending out information regarding how to prepare for the season, as well as some baseline testing procedures we will use to evaluate your child. If you are on the fence and have concerns about whether football is right for your child, please contact me with questions and I will provide you the best answer I can on what I believe to be the greatest team sport in America! Go Eagles! Jay Michael 7 th Grade Head Football Coach Director of Facilities The Episcopal School of Dallas michaelj@esdallas.org 214-353-5855 4100 Merrell Road, Dallas TX 75229
TEAM PRAYER What Will Today Bring God has given me this day to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good. What I do today is important, Because I m exchanging a day of my life for it. I want it to be Gain Not Loss; Good Not Evil; Success Not Failure. In order that I shall not regret the price I paid for it, Because the future is just a whole string of nows.
