WOLFPACK IN THE HOUSE WOLFPACK IN THE HOUSE NC State 200506 Wolfpack Women s Tennis 60 (00 ACC) NEWS FROM THE NET: HIT THE ROAD, PACK: This weekend, NC State will embark on its first road trip of the young spring season. Of the Pack s next three matches, all of which are on the road, two of the opponents are nationally ranked. Friday, Feb. 17, NC State will compete against Florida Atlantic (02) in Boca Raton, Fla., before taking on No. 25 Florida International (21) in Miami, Fla., on Sunday, Feb. 19. The Pack will then begin a tough Atlantic Coast Conference slate in Chapel Hill against rival North Carolina on Thursday, Feb. 23. The Tar Heels (72) are currently ranked No. 11 in the country. FIU boasts the No. 24 doubles tandem with juniors Nikkita Fountain and Paula Zabala, while UNC owns the No. 50 freshman pair of Meg Fanjoy and Austin Smith. UNC also has two ranked juniors in singles, No. 28 Jenna Long and No. 46 Caitlin Collins. NC State enters this weekend with a 60 record, winning all but one match by shutout. A FRESH START: A large part of the Pack s success early on this season is due to the play of the its four freshman. Of the team s 35 singles victories, 15 total wins (43%) come from the new crop of teammates. Neils Barringer is currently tied for most wins on the team with five, while Alejandra Guerra and Arielle Von Strolley both have four. Shona Lee owns two after debuting with the red and white last weekend. All four freshman are currently undefeated. ORLAY NO. 90 NATIONALLY: The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has released the latest national rankings for singles play and senior Wolfpack women s tennis netter Barbara Orlay stands at No. 90 on the list. Orlay, a member of the 2004 AllACC team, has spent much of her career at NC State listed in the national rankings. This past fall, Orlay posted a 94 record in solo bouts. A native of Budapest, Hungary, Orlay served as the No. 1 spot staple in the Wolfpack rotation all season long last spring, finishing second on the team in spring singles wins with 12. 200506 WOLFPACK WOMEN S TENNIS ROSTER Name Ht.
