Saturday, Dec. 1 TBA MW CHAMPIONSHIP TBD PRE-SPRING POSITION BREAKDOWN RETURNING TO THE FIELD Colorado State returns 42 letterwinners from the 2017 squad that qualified for a fifth consecutive bowl game, including 10 starters (four on offense, six on defense). Among those returning are CSU s two leading tacklers from last season, LB Josh Watson and S Jordan Fogal. On offense, WR Olabisi Johnson returns after posting 41 receptions for 595 yards last season, icluding a 119-yard performance in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. RB Izzy Matthews leads the returners in the backfield and had 613 yards on the ground last year with eight touchdowns. QB: The Rams will have to replace one of the leading passers in school history with the departure of Nick Stevens. Stevens earned first-team All-Mountain West honors last season, completing 61.9 percent of passes (284-of-456) for 3,799 yards and 29 touchdowns. He led the Mountain West in passer efficiency rating, passing yards, passing yards per pass attempt, passing yards per game, completions and passing touchdowns. Redshirt sophomore Collin Hill was expected to be the starter heading into the spring, but he re-injured his left knee on March 8. Redshirt junior J.C. Robles has appeared in four career games but has not attempted a pass. Robles is a Visalia, Calif., native who starred at El Diamante High School. He completed his high school career as the school s career record holder for passing yards (4,268), completions (252) and touchdown passes (59), and holds single-season records for passing yards (2,416), completions (165), passing touchdowns (22) and rushing touchdowns (12). Other QBs on the roster are redshirt freshmen -- Judd Erickson and Justice McCoy. Erickson led the state of Colorado in 2016 in passing yards and TDs as a senior at Mountain Vista High School. McCoy was one of the top-rated dual-threat QBs in the nation coming out of high school in New Orleans. RETURNING STARTERS: None. RETURNING LETTERWINNERS: #15 Collin Hill, RS SO, 6-5, 210 (lettered in 2016). RB/FB: CSU has five letterwinners returning in the backfield, led by senior RB Izzy Matthews. Matthews had eight touchdowns last season and is tied for fifth in program history with 26 career TDs. He had 132 carries for 613 yards in 11 games last season, including a season-high 116 yards at New Mexico. He also accounted for 94 yards of total offense at No. 1 Alabama (Sept. 16), putting up 47 yards on 16 carries and pulling in three catches for 47 yards. Joining Matthews at the running back position are junior Marvin Kinsey, Jr. (26 carries, 124 yards, 2 TDs in 2017), redshirt sophomore Rashaad Boddie (44 carries, 254 yards, 4 TDs), redshirt sophomore Darius May (12 carries, 66 yards) and sophomore Marcus McElroy (2 carries, 9 yards). Starting fullback Adam Prentice, a redshirt junior, also returns as the team s lead blocker in the backfield, as well as redshirt senior Nate Ryken. For the first time in three years, the backfield will not have the services of Dalyn Dawkins, who leaves CSU as its third-leading rusher all-time. RETURNING STARTERS: FB #46 Adam Prentice, RS JR, 6-0, 230. RETURNING LETTERWINNERS: RB #28 Rashaad Boddie, RS SO, 6-0, 225; RB #5 Marvin Kinsey, Jr., JR, 6-1, 190; RB #6 Darius May, RS SO, 6-1, 195; FB #45 Nate Ryken, RS SR, 6-1, 235. WR/TE: Departed from this group is all-everything wide receiver Michael Gallup, who posted a program-record 100 catches for 1,413 yards and seven TDs in 2017. TE Dalton Fackrell (23 catches, 313 yards, 6 TDs) and WR Detrich Clark (41 catches, 504 yards, 6 TDs) are also gone. The Rams look to still have plenty of receiving options, however. Senior WR Olabisi Johnson leads the returnees, having posted 41 catches for 595 yards and a pair of TDs last season. Johnson has a habit of producing in the biggest games, including a team-leading 119 yards in the 2017 New Senior RB Izzy Matthews Mexico Bowl and a CSU-record 265 receiving yards in the 2016 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl. Sophomore WR Warren Jackson (23 catches, 313 yards, 2 TDs), who stands at 6-foot-5, captured the attention of national media with his two-td performance at No. 1 Alabama last season. Sophomore TE Cameron Butler (12 catches, 171 yards, 3 TDs) may assume a larger role in the passing game next season. Redshirt junior Preston Williams, a Tennessee transfer and former five-star recruit, will also look to make an impact out wide. RETURNING STARTERS: WR #81 Olabisi Johnson, SR, 6-0, 195. RETURNING LETTERWINNERS: WR #2 Robert Awunganyi, JR, 6-0, 170; TE #16 Cameron Butler, SO, 6-2, 225; WR #39 Brendon Fulton, RS JR, 5-9, 180; WR #9 Warren Jackson, SO, 6-5, 205; TE #82 Isiah Pannunzio, RS SO, 6-2, 235; WR #22 Darius Wise, SO, 5-9, 165. www.csurams.com Twitter: @CSUFootball Instagram: @CSURamsFB Facebook: @CSURamsFootball Phone: 970/491-5067 Tickets: 1-800-491-RAMS

SPRING NOTES COLORADO STATE FOOTBALL RAMS NOTEBOOK OL: Even with three all-conference linemen leaving, the Rams have a solid amount of experience on the o-line heading into 2018. Redshirt seniors Nicho Garcia and Ben Knox were primary starters last season, and several returnees made starts at left guard, led by senior Colby Meeks. Senior Tyler Bjorklünd and junior Jeff Taylor also made starts at left guard. Gone are first-team all-conference linemen Jake Bennett and Zack Golditch, along with Trae Moxley, who earned honorable mention All-MW status. In 2017, the CSU o-line allowed just 1.0 sack per game, a figure that ranked fifth in the country. The line paved the way for CSU s offense to post 492.5 yards per game (1st MW, 11th NCAA). RETURNING STARTERS: RG #72 Nicho Garcia, RS SR, 6-5, 285; RT #78 Ben Knox, RS SR, 6-6, 325; LG #73 Tyler Bjorklünd, SR, 6-4, 290/#51 Colby Meeks, SR, 6-3, 310/#71 Jeff Taylor, JR, 6-1, 305. RETURNING LETTERWINNERS: OL #74 Salofi Gaoa, RS JR, 6-6, 285. DL: DTs Darnell Thompson (36 tackles, four TFLs) and Jakob Buys (19 tackles, three sacks) were the anchors of the CSU defensive line last season. Both are now gone, but the Rams still return plenty of contributors on the d-line. Starting DE Arjay Jean, a junior, posted 18 tackles, 4.5 TFLs and a pair of sacks last season. Toby McBride, a junior, was slated to be a big-impact player in 2017 but missed most of the season with a back injury. The Fort Morgan, Colo., native had 30 tackles and four sacks as a true freshman in 2015. Interior lineman Richard King, a redshirt junior, had 30 tackles and 5 TFLs last season. Sophomore Ellison Hubbard emerged as a freshman last year, recording 20 tackles and a pair of sacks. Another sophomore, Livingston Paogofie, had 11 tackles and a sack as freshman last season. RETURNING STARTERS: DE #42 Arjay Jean, JR, 6-4, 240. RETURNING LETTERWINNERS: DL #98 Ellison Hubbard, SO, 6-1, 270; DL #95 Richard King, RS JR, 6-4, 275; DL #97 Toby McBride, JR, 6-3, 255 (lettered in 2016); DL #92 Livingston Paogofie, SO, 6-1, 260. LB: The Rams return one of the top linebackers in the nation in MLB Josh Watson. The senior led the team with 109 tackles last season and had five TFLs, two sacks, two interceptions and seven pass breakups and was an honorable mention All-MW selection. Two other starting linebackers will also be back -- WLB Max McDonald and SLB Tre Thomas. McDonald, a Fort Collins native, ranked fourth on the team with 57 tackles, while Thomas added 41 tackles and an iconic pick-six in CSU s stadium-opening contest against Oregon State last season. Sophomore Emmanuel Jones earned praise in his rookie season last year, registering 36 tackles (six for loss) and a pair of sacks. CSU will have to make up for the departure of starting LB Evan Colorito (45 tackles, team-leading 12 TFLs and five sacks), who earned honorable mention All-MW honors last season. CSU was hoping to have the services of Deonte Clyburn at linebacker last season, but unfortunately he was unable to suit up for the Rams. Clyburn will be with the CSU staff this season as a defensive graduate assistant. RETURNING STARTERS: WLB #44 Max McDonald, JR, 6-1, 220; SLB #52 Tre Thomas, RS SR, 6-2, 215; MLB #55 Josh Watson, RS SR, 6-2, 240 RETURNING LETTERWINNERS: LB #33 Emmanuel Jones, SO, 6-4, 245; #51 Patrick Moody, SO, 6-1, 225. DB: CSU s second-leading tackler and interceptions leader return to the secondary in 2018. S Jordan Fogal was granted another year of eligibility and will be a senior in 2018. Fogal posted 71 tackles and a pair of INTs in his first season in Fort Collins in 2017. Junior CB Anthony Hawkins led the team with three interceptions and had 33 tackles. The Rams will be without the production of S Jake Schlager (62 tackles, CSU career leader in games played), CB Kevin Nutt (43 tackles, two INTs), CB Justin Sweet (26 tackles, six pass breakups) and CB Shun Johnson (team-leading nine PBUs). S Jamal Hicks, a junior, will look to pick up where left off last season when he registered 33 tackles and a pair of INTs in eight games (four starts) before suffering a season-ending arm injury at New Mexico. Senior LB Josh Watson RETURNING STARTERS: S #11 Jordan Fogal, RS SR, 5-10, 180; CB #14 Anthony Hawkins, JR, 5-10, 185. RETURNING LETTERWINNERS: CB #25 Darius Campbell, SO, 5-10, 165; S #7 Jamal Hicks, JR, 6-1, 185; S #26 Kavapele Maka, RS SR, 6-1, 185; S #18 Braylin Scott, RS JR, 6-3, 185 (lettered in 2015 & 2016); S #9 Jadon Walker, SO, 6-0, 175. ST: The Rams return most of their reliable special teams unit for 2018. Redshirt senior Wyatt Bryan is the second-most accurate kicker in program history (77.7 percent) and is tied for fourth in career FGs made (42). Senior Braxton Davis will return to handle kickoff duties and redshirt senior Nathan Lucas will be the holder. Sophomore Ryan Stonehouse ranked fifth in the FBS with an average of 45.9 yards per punt. He pinned 24 punts inside the opponents 20-yard line and had 18 punts of at least 50 yards. CSU will be seeking a replacement for long snapper extraordinare Trent Sieg. GOING BOWLING For the 17th time in school history and fifth year in a row, the Rams went bowling in 2017, facing Marshall in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl. It marked the first time CSU qualified for a bowl game in five consecutive seasons since 1999-2003. All-time, CSU has played in 17 bowl games, including 16 since 1990. The Rams finished with a 7-6 record for the third consecutive year, and have now posted winning records in five straight seasons. 10 RECOGNIZED BY MOUNTAIN WEST Ten Colorado State players earned all-conference honors last season, including four first-team selections. Senior WR Michael Gallup, senior OL Jake Bennett, senior OL Zack Golditch and senior QB Nick Stevens were named the best at their respective positions, earning first-time honors. In addition, RB Dalyn Dawkins was named to the second team while LB Evan Colorito, LB Josh Watson, TE Dalton Fackrell, OL Trae Moxley and P Ryan Stonehouse were included as honorable mention recipients. The four first-team selections were CSU s most since 2014. The Rams had multiple offensive linemen on the first team for the first time since 2000. The three offensive linemen honored - Bennett, Golditch and Moxley - are all Colorado natives who came to CSU together in 2013. The awards are determined by vote of the league s coaches and media who cover MW teams

SPRING NOTES COLORADO STATE FOOTBALL RAMS NOTEBOOK CSU SETS TOP ATTENDANCE MARKS Colorado State set single-season records for total home attendance (192,369) and per game average (32,062) last season, its first in its new on-campus football stadium. CSU saw its total attendance increase 16.2 percent from 2016 - the eighth-highest per-game attendance increase in the FBS for 2017. Other attendance facts: Second year in a row with an increase in attendance -- the seventh-highest two-year per-game attendance increase among all FBS schools (7,145; 28.7%) - 149,500/24,917 in 2015-165,598/27,600 in 2016-192,369/32,062 in 2017 One of only two MW schools (San Diego State) to experience an attendance increase in each of the past two seasons. - Colorado State: 10.8% from 2015-16; 16.2% from 2016-17 - San Diego State: 22.6% from 2015-16; 5.5% from 2016-17 Second-highest average attendance increase in MW behind Fresno State (5,139) RAMS IN ELITE COMPANY AT ANNUAL AWARDS SHOW Colorado State is one of just 10 college football programs to have had a finalist for a major national award, and been represented at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show, in at least three of the last four years. WR Michael Gallup was a finalist for the 2017 Biletnikoff Award, presented on Dec. 7. WR Rashard Higgins was also a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award in 2014, and P Hayden Hunt was a finalist for the Ray Guy Award in 2015. The Rams are the only school from a non-power 5 conference to be represented at the College Football Awards 3 of the last 4 years: 4 Alabama, Auburn, Utah 3 Clemson, Colorado State, Iowa, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Stanford, Texas HOTTEST TICKET IN TOWN The homecoming matchup against Nevada marked the second sellout of the season and the fourth game of 2017 for which Colorado State sold all tickets for a game. The opening game at the new stadium Aug. 26 vs. Oregon State was a sellout (37,583) and CSU sold all of its ticket allotment for the Sept. 1 Rocky Mountain Showdown in Denver vs. Colorado (32,727). All public tickets for the Oct. 28 game vs. Air Force also sold out. After going 10 years without a sold-out game, from 2004-2014 (Last: Oct. 22, 2004, vs. Wyoming), the Rams have sold out seven of their last 21 home games. GOING FOR 500 (AND 600) CSU eclipsed 500 yards of total offense seven times in 2017, and reached 600-plus yards a school-record four times. Under Coach Bobo, the Rams have exceeded 500 yards of total offense 16 times (4 in 2015, 5 in 2016, 7 in 2017). The Rams posted 610 yards at Hawaii on Sept. 30 - a season high and the most under Coach Bobo. The total also ranks 10th all-time at CSU. The offense came just short of beating that mark two weeks later against Nevada (Oct. 14), putting up 608 yards of total offense. 2017 HIGHLIGHTS COLORADO STATE FOOTBALL 2017 HIGHLIGHTS The Colorado State Rams (7-6; 5-3 MW) capped their 2017 season with a trip to a bowl game, doing so for a school-record-tying fifth consecutive year. CSU has strung together five consecutive winning seasons, and was the only DI program in the state of Colorado to play in a bowl game in 2017. C Jake Bennett, WR Michael Gallup, OL Zack Golditch and QB Nick Stevens were named to the All-Mountain West first team in December, and were joined by second-team member RB Dalyn Dawkins and honorable mention selections LB Evan Colorito, TE Dalton Fackrell, OL Trae Moxley, P Ryan Stonehouse and LB Josh Watson. CSU went 4-2 at home in 2017, the first season at the new on-campus stadium. The Rams opened the new facility with a historic 58-27 win over Power 5-foe Oregon State on Aug. 26. The sellout crowd of 37,583 matched the third-highest attendance in CSU history. CSU s season captains, voted on by their peers, were C Jake Bennett, LB Evan Colorito, RB Dalyn Dawkins and QB Nick Stevens. A perennial strength of the CSU football program, the Rams boasted one of the nation s premier offensive lines in 2017, a unit that ranked fifth in country with 1.0 sack allowed per game and blocked for an offense that ranked 11th in the country and first in the Mountain West with 492.5 yards per game.
