EACC NEWS East Aurora Country Club Member Newsletter DEC 2015 Board of Directors Jon Zach President Bryan Smith Vice President House Chairman Jeff Burke Secretary Grounds Chair Gary Toomey Treasurer Membership Chair Richard Day Golf Chairman Message from the President As we close the books on the 100 th year of the club, I hope we all take away memories of well attended events, golfing, socializing, strengthening old friendships and creating new ones. It s been said before, but it bears repeating, that what makes our club so special is the people. From the membership, to the managers, to the staff, you always know you ll be greeted with a genuine smile. As this the last President s message I ll be writing, I d like to thank everyone for making this year run so smoothly. It s been an honor and a privilege to serve in this capacity. It takes a group effort to keep the entire operation running smoothly so I would urge everyone to stay involved through the various committees and boards. I ve found the experience very fulfilling. I look forward to seeing everyone at the annual membership meeting on December 12 th to discuss the highlights of the year, review the finances, and present a vision for next 100 years. I would also like to give the all the employees in the grounds department a huge pat on the back for their dedication through another season. Working in wet, hot, cold, windy and snowy conditions. CONGRATULATIONS CHRIS! Our very own Club Pro Chris Kulinski was honored recently by the Western New York PGA as the recipient of the 2015 Youth Player Development Award! All who have been around the Club on weekends and even weekdays over the past few years has witnessed the phenomenal growth of our youth and junior golf programs under Chris guidance. This award gives due recognition to Chris for his work in developing EACC s into one of the premiere junior golf programs in the region as also evidenced by our Junior golfers now participating in, and winning, regional events on a regular basis. This prestigious award by his peers is well deserved recognition of what Chris has accomplished on behalf of himself and East Aurora Country Club! Chris was also nominated for, and voted in, as a Director for the District 1 (Buffalo) WNYPGA Board of Directors beginning in 2016. This position also recognizes Chris for his accomplishments, and the respect that Chris has deservedly achieved in the Western New York golf community. Please congratulate Chris when you see him and don t hesitate to brag to your friends that our Pro and our Club have been recognized as running one of the best and fastest growing junior golf programs in all of Western New York! CONGRATULATIONS CHRIS ON A JOB VERY WELL DONE!
Associates Board News Happy Holidays from the Associates Board! The weekend after Thanksgiving, the ladies and I gather to decorate the Clubhouse for Christmas. During my three year term on the Associates Board this has always been one of the tasks I love the most! We all enjoy adding to the joy and merriment of the holiday season at EACC. Last year we began what we hope will continue to be a tradition at EACC, "The Giving Tree." The tree, located in the bar, will be decorated with stars listing items from the wish list of the Southtowns Family Justice Center. Please take a star and bring your donations back to the Club the next time you visit and place them under the tree. There will be a secure box for checks and gift card donations. After last year's donations, I received a letter of extreme gratitude from the executive of the Center, Mary Travers Murphy, for our generosity. It took several trips with my car full of items, from warm cozy blankets to toiletries including makeup, especially concealer and foundation, pain relievers, monetary donations, gift cards for food and gas, juice boxes, snack packs, office supplies and art supplies for the children. I am positive you all are as proud as I was at how successful this little idea came to be. BOWLING NEWS: Social bowling for December will be Saturday, December 12 at the 11th Frame (formerly Victoria Lanes) at 4:00 PM. The following are the dates to be added to your calendars: Sat Dec 12th, Sat Jan 9th, Sat Feb 20th and Sat Mar 12. As usual we will follow up with dinner at the club, except January details to follow! The sign up sheet for December is posted on the club house bulletin board. Questions Contact: Jack & Mary Hinners 662-4706 The Associates Board's most loved annual event is undoubtedly Breakfast with Santa. We hope you will join us on December 5th for this heartwarming morning! Santa must be very tired after traveling all night to arrive at EACC in time for breakfast because the children always have to wake him up! The smiles and laughter fill the club with joy! The children are asked to bring an unwrapped toy donation. As my three year term comes to a close, I am reminded of all the lovely ladies I have gotten to know during this time. It has been a true honor serving, I am looking forward to advising the Board next year and assisting with the events and projects that Cathy Melas, our new President, and The Board takes on! The 100th Anniversary Celebrations will be fun and memorable for all! I urge all to join in! From our home to yours, wishes for the happiest and healthiest Holiday Season and 2016!
