WHAT DO OUR GRADUATES THINK? BRADLEY SUTHERLAND 2017 Graduate MATTHEW SIEGRIST 2017 Graduate JOEY CHASE 2004 Graduate Assistant Superintendent Station Creek Golf Club Gormley, Canada Rutgers gave me the knowledge and skills to continue advancing in my career. I had been an irrigation tech and after just one year of school I was promoted to assistant superintendent. The timing of Rutgers 2-Year Certifi cate Program - ten weeks of classes during the winter so I could still work a full golf season in between was what made getting an education a possibility for me. It was a really intense program, but I would defi nitely recommend it. The instructors try to make sure everything is clear and really want to help you succeed. Superintendent Knoll East Golf Course Parsippany, New Jersey It is never too late to go back to school. You learn so much by doing, but some things require formal education. Learning budgeting techniques and disease diagnosis from the experts has been a huge help. Even with 25+ years of experience, Rutgers gave me the edge I needed to become a superintendent. My boss knew that Rutgers is a topnotch turfgrass school and that was a big reason he was able to convince the town council to promote me to superintendent. Assistant Superintendent Golf du Domaine Imperial Gland, Switzerland When my club hosted the European Young Masters, many people asked how an American from Wisconsin came to live and work in Switzerland and the answer starts with Rutgers University. While in class, I thought, how will knowing the Latin names for trees or weeds help me ever? It seemed like an unnecessary waste of time. But, when I started working at Golf du Domaine Imperial, Lolium and Fusarium had new importance in my every day conversations with co-workers and distributors. The industry-specifi c Latin I already knew made the transition from working in English to French that much easier and my colleagues immediately respected my knowledge of the job. Truly, I cannot forget all that I learned at Rutgers and am fortunate to have studied there.
