Newsletter Spring 2017 As we come to the end of the 1 st quarter for 2017 we have a bumper packed edition of our newsletter. Our Juveniles have been non-stop this year already and we are certainly making a huge name for ourselves out on the Athletics stage. We wish to welcome all out new members who have joined and we look forward to seeing them compete with the various upcoming leagues and competitions. Athletics is a great sport for building our children s confidence, learning how to be part of a team and to show support and encouragement. We have already seen this behavior displayed at our many recent events. So put the kettle on and sit down to read the great achievements our juveniles have performed so far this year. Training Information Monday Night Training : 6pm 7pm At Boyne Community School Parents - Please collect your child (the younger groups) after training from the school at 7pm sharp. No child will be allowed to leave without an adult. Tuesday Night Training : 6pm 7pm at Boyne Community School, (older group). Elaine McEvoy sends regular emails to all the parents of this group of all the training schedules during the week. Don't forget your 2 sub. Please ensure you wear proper runners and suitable clothing to training and bring a bottle of water to drink. No jeans or spikes to be worn. Registration 2017 Everyone is reminded that it is necessary for all existing and new members of the club to register annually. (Fees for 2017 are being kept as follows: juveniles 30, adults 40 and families 100. This registration covers affiliation to Athletics Ireland and Meath County Athletics, carries some insurance cover and will give free entry to certain races; the surplus is used to help fund the club itself. We have handed out the new registration forms to all the juveniles but these will also be available online and we will organise registration sessions in the New Year. Please note that as we have a high number of children wanting to join the club, early registration is required to guarantee your place for 2017. Training Roster Given the number of juveniles in the Athletic Club (currently over 150), we had a roster of parent helping out for 2016. For the New Year, all parents with a registered child will be placed on a roster to help the coaches for 1 hour on a Monday with the younger groups and also on a Tuesday with the other group. The idea is that parents would take it in turns to provide assistance to the coaches. Ideally we would like to keep it to once a month or less for each parent - the more parents that help out, the less often people will be required to help. It is only supervision, training is not required. Already some parents have volunteered their services and we truly appreciate it, but we still require additional volunteers. The club is run on a volunteer basis so we need to support our children in getting the best training.

Competitions, Races and Results Meath Pallative Care 6km Fun run St Stephens Day 26 th December, Knightsbrook Hotel. On St. Stephens Day, our top Junior runner, Harry Purcell and his family put on their yearly fun run/walk in aid of Meath Pallative Care. This run starts from Knightsbrook hotel and participants run all the way through the Porchfields down to the bridge at Franzinis and back again to the Hotel. It was a beautiful sunny day and we had some of our younger members and coaches taking part. It was great to see so many people out on that day after Christmas and running for a great cause.
