Together we can make a real difference in building a bigger, better global game 2

The ICC Cricket World Cup is the centrepiece of world cricket and the third biggest sporting event in the world. It s held every four years and watched by over a billion people on TV, attended by over a million people in stadiums and generates passionate following across the globe. Australia and New Zealand are co-hosts of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 and we are committed to ensuring that the event leaves a lasting legacy for the sport in our countries. The last time we hosted was in 1992 so it is a once-in-a-generation opportunity that we must take full advantage of. We re also committed to developing world cricket by taking the sport beyond its traditional boundaries. For this reason we want to ensure that the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 can have a positive impact on the growth of cricket in our neighbouring developing cricket nations in the East Asia-Pacific region. Our respective Boards, along with the ICC, have agreed to contribute a combined total of US$400,000 from the proceeds of the event towards a Community Facilities Fund for the 9 Associate & Affiliate Members of the ICC in this part of the world. The objective of the Fund is simple: To increase the number of people regularly participating in cricket through the installation of new synthetic cricket wickets and training facilities. We now encourage other funding partners to come on board in each of the nine countries so we can build a larger pot of money. Whether it be small or large, we invite you to contribute to this Community Facilities Fund and together we can make a real difference in building a bigger, better global game. James Sutherland CEO, Cricket Australia David White CEO, NZ Cricket 3

Be a part of one of the world s biggest sporting events and leave a legacy for your communities. The Cricket Australia and NZ Cricket seed investment will fund up to a maximum of 50% of the costs of any facility project so this is where you can come in. By co-contributing as a funding partner on projects in your country you will: 4 1 Take a leadership role in your society. New grassroots facilities allow: More people to lead active lifestyles Bind communities and build character Create a lasting legacy

2 3 Gain positive local media coverage and promotion through an official announcement of your funding contribution and an appropriate unveiling of the new facilities, as well as other recognition opportunities that the national cricket federation can provide. Receive a framed, official funding partner certificate signed by Cricket Australia and NZ Cricket CEOs. For funding partners that contribute US$10,000 or more you will receive a special bat acknowledging your commitment, signed by the captains of the Australian and NZ teams competing in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. 5

Cricket is growing in popularity in the East Asia-Pacific region over 300,000 people currently participate in cricket with growth of 20% year-on-year since 2011. Cricket is a game for all 46% of participants are female and women s cricket is a real focus. A lack of grassroots facilities is a major barrier to further sustainable growth for developing cricket nations. The average cost of installing a synthetic cricket wicket is approximately US$10,000 this fund will provide close to 100 new synthetic wickets across the region. 6

Cricket is recognised as one of the most successful and progressive sporting codes in the country. Over 6,500 people participate in traditional and modified forms of the game roughly 30% of the total population and there has been a significant rise in junior and women s playing numbers over the past few years. The national body is led by innovative, passionate staff and volunteers and an investment in grassroots facilities will assist them in their drive to further grow the game. www.cookislandscricket.com 7

Cricket has a long and proud history in Fiji and it was one of the first Associate Members of the ICC in 1965. The sport is embedded in schools and communities across the nation with over 25,000 participants involved in regular competitions or school programs. Cricket Fiji has high aspirations to expand its domestic pathway and climb the international rankings. Installing new pitches across the country is critical to them achieving this. www.cricketfiji.com.fj 8

Indonesian cricket began in the eastern province of West Timor but has since taken hold in other areas, particularly Jakarta and Bali. In Bali close to 10,000 people are now playing cricket and close to twice that number participate nationally. Government support in recent years has seen the formation of regional cricket associations outside the traditional centres, with these areas urgently requiring facilities to introduce new people to the game. In the world s fourth biggest country, there are exciting opportunities to assist Indonesia to realise its obvious potential. www.facebook.com/pages/cricket-indonesia/162897953749249 9

Japanese cricket has come a long way in the last decade as it starts to lay strong foundations in a number of local communities. There is a thriving senior competition and a focus on building the junior playing base but the development of both these areas hinges on the ability to access facilities. With over 16,000 people taking part in cricket each year and only 13 permanent fields across the country, new cricket wickets are a priority for the Japan Cricket Association. www.cricket.or.jp 10

Cricket is starting to become entrenched in the mainstream sporting landscape in PNG and has real potential to inspire the nation. With over 180,000 children involved in entry-level programs across 10 provinces, a maturing domestic cricket structure and national teams that are performing on the world stage, the sport is in very good health. PNG s major challenge is to convert the ever-growing interest in cricket into regular participants and central to this is the need for new facilities at community level. www.cricketpng.com 11

The Philippines Cricket Association is committed to expanding the game s footprint, initially targeting the Manila region. The national men s league continues to grow and their schools development program, which introduces over 7,000 children to cricket, shows that the sport has a bright future. At the moment there are only two permanent wickets in the country so there is an urgent need for an increase in facilities to match the increased interest in playing the game. www.facebook.com/pages/philippines-cricket-association- PCA/345753922127938 12

Samoa s love for their local version of the game, known as kilikiti, has evolved into a strong following for traditional cricket. More than 16,000 people are currently involved in cricket with exciting raw talent on display. Cricket games are passionately played in schools and villages throughout the two islands and the Prime Minister has high hopes for the game s future. The building of new facilities is essential to the ongoing growth of the game at all levels. www.facebook.com/samoainternationalcricketassociation 13

Cricket in Korea received a shot in the arm in 2014 when its national men s and women s teams were included in the 2014 Asian Games that was hosted by Incheon City. This has led to greater interest in the sport by key stakeholders and a strengthened resolve to see the game grow in what is a baseball-mad nation. Whilst the legacy of the Asian Games is a new international venue, there is much-needed investment in community facilities as the national body targets significant growth in participation levels. www.twitter.com/cricketkorea 14

Vanuatu consistently punches above its weight on the international cricket scene. Despite limited playing facilities, and those that are available often covered in crab holes, Vanuatu Cricket has one of the most established junior development programs in the region with more than 19,000 participants. With a growing and widespread national interest in cricket, new and improved facilities will be of huge benefit to Vanuatu as the number of school and junior teams continues to rise. www.facebook.com/pages/vanuatu-cricket/158299684259857 15
