SETUP GUIDE V. 1.1, 11-17

SETUP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE pneupod NP-1 ISOLATION FEET: Thank you for purchasing a pneupod NP-1 pneumatic isolation device. Below is a list of what's in the box along with a description of the parts: [A] [B] [C] [D] [E] [F] [G] [H] [I] [J] [K] [L] [M] pneupod NP-1 ISOLATION FOOT AIR PUMP (for inflating the air bubble) AIR RELEASE VALVE (for controlled releasee of air in the foot) MALE AIR FITTING (for connecting the air pump to the foot) MALE AIR FITTING PROTECTIVE CAP (to keep the threads clean) CERAMIC FLAT SPIKE FOOT (Silver in Color) CERAMIC 1/8 INCH SPIKE FOOT (Black in Color) GREASE PACKET (for lubricating the O-Rings) SPIKE WRENCH (for tightening the Ceramic Spike Feet) AIR CAP (protects the air intake and acts as a secondary air seal) STAINLESSS STEEL STUDS (used for mounting the foot using a 1/4-20 thread) FOOT HEIGHT GAUGE (for setting the correct height of the foot) SELF STICK RUBBERR PAD (for placing on foot bottom to protect surface) Page 1 of 6

SETUP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE PNEUPOD NP-1 ISOLATION FEET: IMPORTANT: Before proceeding to the setup instructions a few decisions should be made first and a practice run completed. DECISION 1: Two different ways to use your new pneupod NP-1 feet. A. The usual way is to place the foot under your component with the rubber air bubble facing down and the aluminum body contacting the bottom of the component. See DECISION 2 for different ways of contacting. This method will allow the mass of the feet to be added to the masss of your component. This is a good thing as it lowers the fundamental resonance of the component. B. The optional way is to place the aluminum base on the platform with the rubber air bubble facing up. The air bubble will now be touching the underside of your component, which needs to be free of any sharp objects that could puncture the rubberr air bubble. This version is easy to set up and preferred if you need to removee your component on a regular basis. See DECISION 2 for different ways of contacting the aluminum to the platform. DECISION 2: Five different ways to set the aluminum base on a surface. A. The aluminum base [A] is placed directly on the surface. B. The donut shaped self stick rubber pad [M] can be applied to the aluminum base [A]. This protects the surface and the aluminum foot while providing grip. C. A ¼-20 thread hole [P] is provided (and a supplied ¼-20 stud [K]) so the foot can be screwed to the bottom of a component with this standard thread mount. The donut shaped self stick rubber pad [M] can also be used at this time. D. Two different ceramic feet (1/8 inch Ceramic BLACK spike [G] or Ceramic flat bottom SILVER spike [F]) can be screwed into the three 12-32 threaded holes [O] on the bottom of the aluminum base. This creates a stable three point contact when the surface is uneven. Please test this method as it may mar the contacting surface. A clear plastic spike wrench [ I] is supplied for tightening the ceramic feet. Screw thesee feet in by hand, then use the wrench [I] to gently snug each foot to the base. The clear plastic wrench [I] is used with the pneupod logo facing up. Do not use any other tool to install or remove thesee feet. Page 2 of 6

PRACTICE RUN: Before actually using the feet for their intended purpose a practice run using the air pump and releasee valve is recommended. 1. Take one of the feet [A] and set it rubberr bubble up on a table. 2. Unscrew and remove the side air cap [J] on the foot. 3. Removee the black protective cap [E] on the end of the air pump hose [D]. Make sure you align the male air fitting [D] straightt in before turning. Grasping the air fitting [D] by the large O-Ring, carefully screw it into the female air intake port [N] on the side of the foot [A]. Allow the hose and bulbb to rotate freely. Cross threading this fitting will permanently damage the foot [A]. Gently turn the male fitting [D] (clockwise) till it comes to a defined stop (the smaller tip O-ring on the male fitting [D] will not be visible). Once it comes to a stop do not tighten any further. 4. Make sure the chrome air release valve knob [C] on the bulb end of the pump [B] is fully closed ( tighten in a clockwise direction). Pump up the air bubble by repeatedly squeezing and releasing the rubber pump bulb. Do not inflate the rubber bubble on the foot [A] over one inch high above the aluminum top ring. Now very slowly start to unscrew the air release valve [C] (counterclockwise) till you seee the air bubble on the foot [A] deflate. When the desired height is achieved quickly close the air release valve [C] (clockwise). Practice this proceduree till you can lower the air bubble on the foot [A] in a precisely controlled manner. Practice makes perfect. [N] [O] [P] AIR INTAKE PORT (the air pump male fitting [D] connects here) 12-32 THREADED HOLES (accept the Black [G] or Silver [F] Ceramic feet) 1/4-20 THREADEDD HOLE (accepts standard thread or Stainless Steel stud [K]) Page 3 of 6

SETUP INSTRUCTIONS: 1. Take all four feet [A] out of the box and place them under the four corners of your component. If there are existing feet they should be removed, or the pneupod feet should be positioned in another location. Do not stack the pneupods under the component's stock feet. If you are using three feet you will need to place them in a triangularr pattern that gives the greatest stability based on the weight distribution of your component. This can be tricky. Many situations have two feet near the front left and right and a third foot near the rear middle or can be reversed. The air bubble should be facing down. See DECISION 2 above for the correct way to contact the aluminum base to the component. Orient the air intake port [N] so you have access for the air pump male fitting [D]. 2. Unscrew and remove the side air cap [J] on the foot [A]. 3. Removee the black protective cap [E] on the male air fitting [D]. Make sure you align the male air fitting [D] straight in before turning. Grasping the air fitting [D], carefully screw it into the female air intake port [N] on the foot [A]. Allow the hose and bulb to rotate freely. Crosss threading this fitting will permanently damage the foot. Turn the male fitting [D] (clockwise) till it comes to a definedd stop (the smaller O-ring on the male [D] will not be visible). Do not tighten any further. 4. Make sure the air release valve knob [C] on the pump bulb [B] is turned fully closed (clockwise). Pump the bulb repeatedly and watch the air bubble start to raise the foot. Use the supplied height gauge [L] and raise the foot so the gauge will just fit between the platform and under the aluminum ring, making sure that it does not interfere with the small rubber bumpers. If you overinflate the foot you can slowly turn the air release valve knob [C] on the pump (counterclockwise) to release a small amount of air to lower the foot. When the desired height is achieved quickly close the valve [C] (clockwise). When this job is complete you can unscrew the pumpp [B] from the foot. If you are having trouble pumping up the foot see TROUBLESHOOTING on page 5. 5. Repeat Step 3 with the remaining threee (or two) feet. When this is complete use the height gauge [L] to re-check all four (or three) feet for correct height. 6. When all feet are at the correct height you can finish by screwing the four (or three) supplied air caps [J] into the side air intake ports [N]. These caps keep the air intake ports clean from dust and also servee as secondary seals to prevent any air leakage. Make sure you align the air cap straight in before turning. Grasping the air cap, by the large O-Ring, carefully screw it into the female air intake port [N] on the foot. Cross threading this fitting willl permanently damage the foot. Gently turn the air cap [J] (clockwise) till it comes to a defined stop (the smaller tip O- ring on the air cap will not be visible). Once it comes to a stop do not tighten any further. 7. For aesthetic reasons you may want to rotate each foot to hide the air cap from sight. Page 4 of 6

TROUBLESHOOTING: PUMP NOT INFLATING RUBBER AIR BUBBLE 1. If you have a heavy component on the foot and it is difficult to raise the foot with the pump take the foot from under the component, with care, and place it on a table. Over inflate the foot with the pump (do not raise the rubber bubble higher than one inch above the ring) then place it under the component. Use the supplied height gauge [L] and lower the foot so the gauge will just fit between the platform and under the aluminum ring, making sure that it does not interferee with the small rubberr bumpers. 2. Make sure the male air fitting [D] is fully screwed clockwise till it makes a positive stop. 3. Make sure the air release knob [C] on the air pump [B] is fully closed counterclockwise. 4. Check for any rips or punctures in the rubber diaphragms kits are available. MAINTENANCE: A Grease Packet [H] is supplied to lubricate the O-Ring's on the Male Air Fitting [D] and Air Caps [J]. A thin film of grease should be applied to the O-Rings (see red arrows) when and if you feel too much resistance when making the connection of the Male Air Fitting [D] or Air Cap [J] to the Air Intake Port [N]. bubble. Replacement Rubber Air Bubble SPECIFICATIONS: Foot diameter 3 inches (76.2 mm) Foot Height (deflated) 1.25 inches (31.75 mm) Foot Height (properly inflated) 1.50 inches (38.1 mm) Foot Weight 1/2 lb. (.23 kg) Max weight capacity per foot 20 lbs. (9 kg) (each individual foot) With perfect weight distribution of the component a maximum of 80 lbs. (36.3 kg) total using four feet is allowed. It is possible to have a component that is within the maximum 80 lbs. (36.3 kg) but go over the maximum of 20 lbs. (9 kg) for each individual foot. This is because the weight distribution of the component is uneven. This overweight (per foot) situation is not allowed. Page 5 of 6
