PRESIDENT S REPORT 2011 has been another strong year for our club and a number of factors have contributed to this. The Club has strong representation across all areas of the association and of note particularly in the highest levels of Open and Under 17. The Club has well respected and competent umpires regularly called on by the Association to umpire on their behalf. Thank you to Ruku for providing such strong guidance to our developing umpires. The Club also has strong coaching skills which are highly valued and called upon not only by us but the Association and Region, congratulations to Ebony Smith for being awarded the Regions most Developing Coach. The Club continues to be represented at the Association level as the Players Representative. This is an important role for our Club as it ensures we are represented in the decision making process for all competition matters. The Club remains in a strong financial position with fabulous sponsor support enabling fees to remain low and upskilling of volunteers. The significant event for the Club this year leading into next year will be the change in uniform. This has been discussed over several years with no illusion that there would be challenges along the way. This year the bullet was bitten and a Plan put in place to start 2012 in a new dress more suited to the variety of shapes and sizes that we netballers come in. I think you will agree that Denise Hughes has led this process with vigour and the resulting dress choice and design is outstanding and will infact stand out. The committee recognised that a change in uniform would mean extra cost and coordinated a fundraising Quiz Night to subsidise the cost. The function was incredibly well supported and as a result all uniforms in the first order will now be subsidised by 30% that s the equivalent of two boxes of chocolates per dress that now won t need to be sold! The communication network within the Club remains strong and this is directly as a result of Cheryl Blanton s very comprehensive email system. As a relatively new Club Aranmore Jets is still open to change. As a Club that aims to facilitate involvement with netball at and in all areas and levels when a proposal was put to the Committee to consider a high level non training team it posed some interesting challenges. The proposal was worked on and implemented not without hiccups but a great base to now move forward with. There are many devoted people who have again worked tirelessly throughout the season, there are also great new Club members and supporters who have bought new blood and ideas I would like to welcome you to our Club and thank you for your support. Thank you to everyone who has facilitated the playing of netball in any way, I believe it is incredibly important that women of all ages and abilities participate in sport in some way and the reasons are more than just the need to be physically active. I am really looking forward to donning the new uniform with you in 2012!! Elaine Clucas President 3
