# tarragona2018 / www.tarragona2018.cat GRANTED THE TECHNOLOGY, SOCIAL NETWORKS AND EXTERNAL ACCOMMODATION TENDERS The Ticket Agency is awaiting to be awarded and the bid to grant the Games design and image production will be launched soon NUMBER 13 JANUARY 2018 The technology services for the Mediterranean Games Tarragona 2018 have been awarded to Bornan Sports Technology SARL. This tender comprises various tasks, such as accreditations, sport entries, results management and information, as well as TV graphics. The profile management for the XVIII Mediterranean Games in social networks is also granted, in this case to the company La Estrategia de Chapman SL. This involves carrying out several tasks, like managing social network profiles, developing new channels to successfully spread information of the Games and taking control of developing, editing and the post-production of multimedia contents. Furthermore, Viajes El Corte Inglés SA will be the company in charge of managing the accommodation services to the various Games stakeholders. Lastly, the process to allocate the official ticketing agency is now closed and pending to be awarded. The bidding to grant the look of the Games, its design and production, will be launched soon. LIVE THE GAMES Volunteer recruitment 2018 final campaign The period to join the Tarragona 2018 Team as a volunteer is coming to an end. The general public will need to register before the 22 nd of January in order to be able to participate as a volunteer. To face these final registration stages, the Mediterranean Games have launched a campaign to make a last call to those who want to be part of Tarragona 2018 but have not enrolled yet. In order to reach the greatest number of people, the campaign has focused in the 1
city of Tarragona and in each of the hosting municipalities, doing also extensive work via the social networks. The admission period will conclude five months prior the sports event, which will begin on June 22 nd, 2018. THE RIO 2016 PARALYMPIC CHAMPION, GERARD DESCARREGA, SUPPORTS TARRAGONA 2018 The Paralympic athlete from Reus, Gerard Descarrega, has shown his support to the Games. Descarrega was the 400m T11 Paralympic champion in Rio 2016, won the gold medal in in the World Cup of London 2017 and the silver one in Doha 2015 in the same category. THE BARCELONA 92 OLYMPIC CHAMPION AND DIRECTOR OF THE ARCHERY COMPETITION VISITS THE GAMES FACILITIES He met the Tarragona 2018 Department of Sports to move forward with the archery operational details The Olympic champion of Barcelona 1992 and Director of the Archery competition of the Mediterranean Games, Juan Carlos Holgado, attended a meeting with the Department of Sports to overtake on the competition s multiple operational issues. They visited the archery competition facility located in the Mediterranean Ring athletics track, where they observed firsthand the spaces and set the implementation of the competition. THE HALF MARATHON OF TARRAGONA CONSOLIDATED AS ONE OF THE MOST AWAITED COMPETITIONS IN THE CITY Once again, this year the half marathon of Tarragona has gathered important athletes who have contested to be in one of the most awaited sport events of the city. This competition, together with the 10k race, gathered almost 2,000 athletes. The half marathon will be one of the athletic events of the Mediterranean Games Tarragona 2018. This meeting enabled the agreement and settling of different relevant issues like the competition system, sports material, athletes and staff flows as well as the different tasks that volunteers will have to carry out. The Tarragona 2018 Department of Sports holds frequent meetings with the different Competition Directors and other members of the Spanish Federations. 2
APPROVED THE 4 TH PHASE OF THE SPORTS PALACE FUNDING This phase comprises works on the air conditioning system, the screen scoreboard and the sports equipment, among others The bid for the 4 th phase of the Sports Palace will now be made public, as agreed by the Council of Ministers in mid-december. They also gave the green light to get the necessary funding to finish the construction of this facility, located in the Mediterranean Ring. Now the Catalonia public infrastructures management company, Infraestructures.cat, will be able to detail the requirements on the fourth phase tender. This last phase will allow fulfilling works like the installation of the air conditioning and the screen scoreboard, as well as the furniture and sports equipment actions. The Sports Palace, one of the epicenters of the Games, will have a capacity for approximately 5,000 spectators and will hold the handball competition during the Mediterranean Games. Once the Games will be over, this facility will be part of the important legacy that will remain in the city. 3
TARRACVS ENJOYS CHRISTMAS WITH THE LITTLE ONES During last December, our mascot participated in many events and activities, most of them Christmas related. Tarracvs wanted to share with the kids their season excitement. One of the most rewarded moments was its participation in the Christmas Fun Park of both Tarragona and Reus, where children enjoyed themselves and learned from the scheduled activities. Tarracvs also visited some Games sponsors, Caixaforum and El Corte Inglés, in their Christmas activities organized locally. Salou hosted the Sports Night, an event that awards distinguished athletes of the year, Tarracvs helped delivering a successful event. Catalan celebrities faced each other in Valls through participating in a basketball match. The benefits were awarded to La Marató de TV3, who is fighting infectious diseases via this year s funds. 4
