First-aid measures Exposure Route Symptom Treatment Inhalation Irritation of respiratory tract Remove to fresh air, keep patient warm & at rest. If breathing becomes irregular or stops administer artificial resuscitation, if unconscious, place in recovery position. Seek medical advice. Eye contact Irritation & smarting Irrigate copiously with clean fresh water, holding the eyelids apart. If irritation persists seek medical attention. Skin contact Irritation Remove contaminated clothing & wash skin thoroughly with soap & water. Ingestion Irritation If swallowed seek immediate medical attention. Do not induce vomiting. 5. Fire-fighting measures Not to be used: Water jet Recommendations: Fire will produce usual combustion products (black smoke, oxides of carbon, oxides of nitrogen, cyanides, etc.) Exposure to these combustion products is a health hazard and should be avoided. Fire fighters should wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). Water mist can be used to cool closed containers and prevent pressure build up or auto-ignition. Do not allow water run-off from fire fighting to enter drains or watercourses. 6. Accidental release measures Exclude sources of ignition and ventilate area. Use appropriates personal protective equipment (PPE) see section 7. Contain and collect spillage using non-combustible absorbent materials e.g. sand or perlite and place in a suitable container for disposal in accordance with local regulations. Clean with detergents rather than solvents. Do not allow spillage to enter drains & watercourses if the product contaminates lakes, rivers or sewers, inform the water authority or Environment Agency as per local regulations. 7. Handling and storage 7.1 Handling Smoking, eating & drinking should be prohibited during handling. Keep container tightly closed. Any containers, which are open, should be carefully resealed. Due regard should be paid to the risks outlined in the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, appropriate PPE should be used (see section 7). Recommended Keep materials in original container; avoid natural & synthetic rubber, copper & alloys and plastic materials. Handle and open containers carefully to avoid spillage. Never pressurise the container. Clean or discard contaminated clothing and footwear. Preparation may charge electrostatically risking fire or explosion; always use earthing leads when transferring between containers. Operators should wear antistatic footwear and clothing, floors should be electrically bonded. Vapours are heavier than air. Keep well ventilated (below occupational exposure limits) to avoid the formation of explosive vapour/ air mixtures. Eliminate sources of ignition and ensure electrical equipment is protected to the appropriate standard. Use non-sparking tools. Wear appropriate PPE (see Section 7). 7.2 Storage Observe label precautions. Store between 0 30 C in a dry, clean and well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight or other ignition sources. 8. Exposure controls/personal protection 8.1 Engineering Measures Avoid the inhalation of vapour, spray mist and particulates by the use of local exhaust ventilation and good general extraction to keep concentrations below the set exposure limits. 8.2 Exposure Limits CAS Number % w/w LTEL (mgm -3 ) STEL (mgm -3 ) Isobutyl alcohol 78-83-1 2.5-10 150 225 S Ethylbenzene 100-41-4 2.5-10 435 545 Toluene 108-88-3 2.5-10 188 560 S Xylene (mixture of isomers) 1330-20-7 10-25 435 650 S LTEL: Long Term Exposure Limit, 8-hour time weighted average STEL: Short Term Exposure Limit, 10-minute time weighted average S: Can be absorbed through skin 8.3 Personal Protective Equipment Respiratory Protection: Wear appropriate respiratory protective equipment to the approved standard with an organic vapour filter. If the exposure limit is exceeded then breathing apparatus may be required. Hand/ Skin Protection: Use chemical resistant gloves. Barrier creams can also be used to help protect exposed areas of skin, however they should not be applied once exposure has occurred. Overalls should be worn to prevent skin contact. If overalls become contaminated they should be removed along with contaminated clothing and laundered before reuse. Eye Protection: Goggles and face protection should be worn to prevent eye contact. 9. Physical and chemical properties Appearance Opaque coloured liquid Odour Strong sweet organic smell Physical state at 20 C: Liquid Flash Point: Less than 21 C (Method ISO 3679) Specific Gravity at 20 C: 1.1 (Method ISO 2811) Vapour density: > air Lower explosion limit (vol. %): 0.8 Miscibility in water at 20 C: Not miscible ph: N/A % Volatility by weight: 54 % Volatility by volume: 69 Vapour pressure at 20 C: 13mm Hg Pages: 3 of 5

10. Stability and reactivity Stable under recommended storage and handling conditions (see section 6). In case of combustion, may produce hazardous decomposition products such as oxides of carbon, oxides of nitrogen and cyanides. 11. Toxicological information There is no data available on the preparation itself. Exposure to component solvent vapours at concentrations in excess of the stated Occupational Exposure Limits may result in adverse health effects such as mucous membrane & respiratory system irritation and adverse effects on kidney, liver and central nervous system. Symptoms and signs include headaches, dizziness, fatigue, muscular weakness, drowsiness and in extreme cases loss of consciousness. Repeated or prolonged contact with the preparation may cause de-fatting of the dermal layer (skin), resulting in non-allergic dermatitis and absorption through the skin. 12. Ecological information There is no data available on the preparation itself. The product must not be allowed to enter drains or watercourses. 13. Disposal considerations The liquid product is classified as special waste and must be disposed of by an approved waste disposal contractor. Empty containers should be left to dry and can then be recycled or disposed of through a licensed waste disposal facility. Disposal of the product should be in accordance with any local or national regulations. 14.
