Message from the Governor: There are a few things that will be going on around the lodge the past couple of months. Parking lot and Snow removal: It is coming to that time of the year. Winter is upon us and the inevitable will happen. Remember: if you are parking and intend to Uber or Taxi home when the snow is forecasted, please park on the sides of the parking lot so the trucks will have room to remove the snow. As you all know, we don t close the lodge on these snow days so this is very important. VA State Mid-Year Convention: The Virginia Moose Associations Mid-Year convention is the weekend of January 19 th 22 th, 2016. Hotel rooms are available now and the VA Moose Association has blocked off rooms at a great rate. If you can get off work to go, it is a great time and looks good for the lodge to have as many members as possible at these conventions. Moose Riders Cornhole Tournament for VA House: The Dale City Moose Riders are having a cornhole tournament on November 19 th,, for VA House at Mooseheart. Look for flyers around the lodge and on the Facebook page. We are saddened by the loss of our dear friend and co-worker Eleanor Beigie. Eleanor made a big impact and an unexplainable difference to our lodge and so many who were blessed to know her. Her memorial service was attended by many and her celebration of life gathering followed at our Lodge. Thank you to Teri McCormick who set the lodge up beautifully and for the fantastic food that everyone enjoyed. The day of the loss of Eleanor, we had a scheduled bake and plant sale. Thank you to all that donated baked goods and to Sandy Hawkins who donated all of the beautiful plant and garden dishes. Arleen McGregor and Eva Hatch were there to sell the raffle tickets to our packed lodge and Coach called out the winning numbers. Family Fun day was well attended and so much fun. From the throw a pie in Board of officers face, Pony Rides, Dunk Tank, kid s pie eating contest and our outgoing & wonderfully talented Nellie Hollandsworth doing the face painting. We also completed 18 children s Identa Kits, in which Maria Leydig was a big help to me administering. Thank you to Arleen, Syliva, Eva & Courtney Gordon for helping out with all of the activities. Thank you Biker Bob, Bill Baker for grilling & Boss Man for all that you do to help keep things on track. I m happy to say that we had an extremely energetic and bright individual attend and sign up for the upcoming Youth Awareness Scholarship Program. Manny Probst, the head of Virginia s Youth Awareness attended along with his wife. Our own Lieutenant Charles Hoffman, PWC Watch Commander, gave a fantastic presentation and had Q&A time. We also had an amazing guest speaker Vicki Thompson from Safe Surfin, speak about her daughter Amanda and their family s story and the need for continued Cyber Safety & Awareness. If you d like more information on this program, please feel free to reach out to me, as there are other events for this program scheduled throughout Virginia. Those that attended Paint Nite had a wonderful time painting a fallscape. Thank you, Dusty Herrick for putting this together from start to finish!! I have heard from several participants say they are looking forward to the next one. Last but not least, the Children s Halloween Party was so much fun. All of the kids that attended had a great time picking their own pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and then painting it. They also had a few games and treats, ending with a Piñata. Thank you Joey Belcher for bravely assisting us by holding that heavily candy filled bat!! Thank you Joey, Sylvia & Eva for doing all that you did to make this an outstanding party for the kids. I would like to give big thank you to Mary Crawford for coming in early and continuously going above and beyond. It means so much to us and you are truly appreciated. Please keep an eye out for the upcoming schedule of events. If you d like to take part, please feel free to come up to me or any of the other WOTM officers. We would love to include you in our fun and service to Mooseheart, Moosehaven, our community and many others. We will be selling Christmas/Holiday cards soon, which will be sent to all 250 Moosehaven Residents. Please keep an eye out for that. Please consider putting your name in for nomination for the new Women of the Moose, Dale City Board member. The nominations will be accepted in January. If you have any questions, reach out to one of our current officers. If you have an address, phone number or e-mail that needs to be updated, please include your name and the information that needs to be changed and put it in the mail box, located next to the WOTM office door. I close in saying, thank you for all that you do. Together we can make a difference. We are making a difference.
