West Coast Open is a meet designed for clubs to bring a large group of swimmers together and have a great team experience. The meet is also designed as an early season LC racing opportunity that will allow coaches to select events that are not always offered to swimmers of all levels. WARM-UP TIMES Saturday May 1 st Session 1 Warm-up 8:00am-8:50am Start 9:05am Session 2 Warm-up*** ~2:30pm 3:00pm Start 3:10pm Sunday May 2 nd Session 3 Warm-up 8:00am 8:50am Start 9:05am *** Warm-up for session two will be 90 minutes after the end of Session # 1*** and will last 30 minutes. This meet is financially supported by the Government of British Columbia, Sports Services and Gaming Branch.

The award will presented at the end of the Meet. DECK ENTRIES Must be submitted at least ½ hour prior to start time. DE s will be placed in empty lanes no new heats created For a swimmer to be deck entered, the coach must provide the swimmers ID number (9 digits), as well as their correct date of birth. $10.00/individual event NT will not be accepted except for relays and will not be refunded. Entry deadline: Wednesday April 22 nd, 2010 (8pm) Entries to: Meet entries must be uploaded prior to the entry deadline to the Swimming Canada www.swimmeet.ca website. Entries sent directly to the meet manager will not be accepted. Cheques should be made payable to the Richmond Rapids Swim Club. Associations must submit one cheque only; no individual cheques will be accepted from members of the association. Proof of times on word format must accompany all meet entries. Please submit times to the Rapids office rapids@shaw.ca Last Chance to scratch deadline Monday April 26 th, 2010 8pm. All changes & scratches should be re-uploaded to the Swimming Canada www.swimmeet.ca website.

Meet Rules 1. All events are TIMED FINALS & SENIOR SEEDED. 2. All swimmers must be registered with Swim BC; another FINA affiliated organization and or an IPC affiliate. 3. Swimmers with a disability (SWAD) must be entered with their classification numbers and actual times for each event. 4. 2010 IPC Rules will apply to all SWAD s in the meet. 5. Awards will be awarded to each gender in the following age groups. 10 & under; 11-12, 13-14 and Open. 6. Age group is based on the swimmer s age as of May 1 st, 2010. 7. 10 & under swimmers are limited to 4 hr competition time-excluding warm-up. Coaches are to ensure that their 10 & U swimmers are meeting these guidelines. 8. SNC rules and the Swim BC Tech Guide will be in effect. 9. SNC warm up protocol will be in effect. The FINA one-start rule is in effect 10. Qualifying Times will be as listed in the attached events list. Proof of time required for all entry time events. 11. Entries with no time attached will be not be accepted. All entries must have a time attached. 12. To assist meet management and officials, scratches the day of the meet must be submitted to the Clerk of the Course 30 minutes prior to end of the warm-up period. 13. Deck Entries will only be taken to fill empty lanes on a first come first serve basis. 14. The meet management reserves the right to limit the number of entries in all events to fit the goal time lines. 15. All participating clubs are required to have a minimum of 3 timers available during sessions 1,2 and 3. Please contact the Officials Chair with a list of the timers you are supplying. 16. 400 Freestyle will be limited to 12 or fewer double-laned heats composed of swimmers who meet the minimum qualifying time (MQT). 17. 400 IM will be limited to 10 or fewer heats composed of swimmers who meet the minimum qualifying time (MQT). 18. The meet will accept up to 1800 swims providing the sessions each day are of reasonable length. The Rapids reserve the right to limit entries in specific events in the meet, to meet the target time lines. 19. A coaches meeting will be held 10 minutes prior to the start of timed finals on Saturday morning and then as necessary 20. All coaches and clubs will be notified via email about the timelines and any modifications to the meet once final entries have been received. 21. The host club reserves the right to enter swimmers not meeting the QT.
