Calrossy Anglican School Primary and Secondary Interschool Horse Sports Day Date: Friday November 16 th, 2018
Venue: Tamworth Pony Club Grounds Hallsville We would like to extend an invitation to your school to attend the Calrossy Anglican School Horse sports day to be held on the 16th November 2018 at Tamworth Pony Club grounds Hallsville. Please find enclosed a program and nomination Forms. This event will be run under the guidelines for the safe Conduct of Sport and Physical Activity in Schools and the Pony Club Association of NSW Regulations. Entry and Conditions All riders must wear either an AS/NZ3838 or EN1384 or ASTMF1163 Approved helmet at all times mounted. Pony club rules and regulations apply. Please remove any old gear check stickers. The event will be registered with Equestrian NSW, Independent riders will be allowed to enter. All rules will follow Equestrian Australia as we are an affiliated event. The entry fee of $35 will cover all classes including sporting and show jumping, but an extra fee applies to the team penning at an extra $15 per student. This is to cover cattle levy. Nomination fees are non-refundable (except in the event of postponement or cancellation). The minimum age for riders is 8years as of 31 December 2018 Age groups will be defined by the age the competitor turns this year, as of 31 December 2018. Schools may enter any number of students but the first 20 team entries for the team penning will be taken. If a student does not have a team for the team penning then a composite team will be made up. Individual entries will be accepted. But still only the first 20 teams can be accepted. Team Manager Responsibilities and General Rules Each Rider is to use only one horse during the day. School ties and jumpers are to be worn whilst competing in ring events. NO coats allowed. Approved pony club boots must be worn. Please ensure competitors are on time, and in marshaling area prior to their class, as events will not wait for late competitors. Team managers have a duty of care for their students and are responsible for student supervision and behavior on the day. It is the team manager s responsibility to perform a gear check and apply a waist band to approve gear check on all competitors entering the ring. Team managers must ensure they are abiding by pony club rules, and the rider's equipment will pass a pony club safety inspection. Failure to comply will result in disqualification from the horse sports. Each school must provide at least 2 workers other than team manager, to assist on the day. Please ensure all non-competitors, parents and children remain outside the boundaries of all competition areas. No dogs or stallions are allowed on the grounds. Any disputes to be lodged by the team manager in writing, within 15minutes of the event ending. A fee of $50 must accompany the complaint and will be forfeited if the dispute is dismissed. All decisions of the disputes committee will be final. The committee reserves the right to alter, delete or vary any event on the day. Please notify office of any scratching as soon as possible on, or prior, to the day. Cancellations will be nitified through the Calrossy Facebook page. (Team penning points will not be included in any high point score.) No entries will be accepted without full payment. School cheque preferred or pay by Qkr through Calrossy. DOE schools will be invoiced when entries are received at the Calrossy Office

Gear check is the responsibility of the Team Manager, and to be done prior to marshaling. 8:30am START Events to be run in age groups: 8yrs, 9yrs, 10yrs, 11yrs, 12yrs, 13yrs, 14yrs, 15yrs, 16yrs and over. (age turning this year). Ring Events to be completed before any other competitions Hack class in each age group Boy or girl rider in age groups Pair of Riders Sporting Events: * Please Note - Boys and girls will be run together if less than 5 riders in any age group. Bend Flag Barrel Key Hole Running T Showjumping will start at 10:00am with the lower heights Showjumping: Accumulator to be run in age groups Team Penning (no experience required but rules to be known) Limited to first 20 teams entered. Preference given to teams made up from the same school. One team from each school will be placed into the draw before extra teams can be entered from that same school. Teams will be divided into a Junior (under 13) and Senior (over 13) competition. Many teams from each school can be entered but depending on entry numbers we can only accept a total of 20 teams. So teams need to be listed or numbered in order of preference by team manager. Individual entries will be accepted and placed into a composite team. Presentation An un-mounted presentation will be held at the conclusion of the events. Please encourage riders and families to stay for this. Sporting and jumping events roster Team managers are to ensure nominated helpers are organised to collect gear in time and are ready to set up and run events as per roster when required. Roster for helpers will be available from the broadcast box from 8:15 am

TEAM PENNING AUSTRALIA Inc. RULES ( Independent riders cannot enter team penning events ) 1. A judge will advise the assigned collar colour as the first competitor crosses the Starting line. 2. Time for a run commences when the first of the three horses crosses the starting line. 3. Within a two minute time limit, a team will attempt to cut from the mob and pen three head of cattle with the same assigned collar colour. A 30 second warning bell will be given prior to the end of the run. 4. A team can only call for time once. 5. To call for time one rider must stand in the gateway of the pen, with only a minim of the horse s nose to maximum of the shoulder in the pen gate and raise his/her hand after some, or all, of the assigned cattle are penned. The remaining 2 riders must be on the pen side of the starting line. 6. A team may call for time with only one or two of the assigned cattle penned, however, teams penning three head of cattle will place higher than those penning two head, and two head will place higher than one head, regardless of time. 7. Time cannot be given until the assigned cattle are in the pen and all other cattle are behind the mob end of the starting line. If time is called before all spare cattle are back across the mob end of the starting line the team will incur a no time (disqualification). 8. No time will be given if incorrect assigned cattle are in the pen when time is called. 9. Any more than 5 head of cattle across the pen end of the starting line at any time incurs a no time (disqualification). 10. A team exhibiting any unnecessary rough handling or rushing at or into the mob at excessive speed, may be disqualified at the judge s decision. 11. Once the run has commenced no rider can enter the pen to cut cattle out; all removal of cattle during the run from the pen is to be done on around the outside of the pen. 12. No whips can be carried into the arena. No hitting of the cattle with any object is allowed. 13. At the discretion of the judge a team may be awarded a re-run if one or more head of their assigned cattle is deemed unsuitable (health wise) or escapes the arena. 14. Competitors will only be called 3 times. If you are not at the in gate marshal area by the 3rd call, that run will be forfeited. 15. Riders must wear a hat, cap or riding helmet into the arena, riders 17 years and under must wear an approved riding helmet. Polo shirts, long or short sleeves shirts with a collar must be worn. Suitable riding pants and riding footwear must be worn. 16. OHS / Public Liability Insurance Ruling - Stallions must be handled and ridden by a person over the age of 18 years.
