p max [bar]= p s [bar]= lose/off pressure [bar]= Maximum permissible pressure differene aross the valve at whih the drive an still reliably open and lose the valve taking p v into onsideration. Maximum permissible pressure differene aross the valve in the event of a problem (pipeline break downstream of valve) at whih the drive an reliably lose with fast stroke passage Maximum possible pressure differene aross the valve during ontrol operation at whih the drive an still open and lose the valve. A shorter servie life an be expeted if this method is used. Cavitation, erosion and pressure surges an damage the valve. The values only apply to the assembled ombination of the valve fitted to the drive. Operation Using an eletri atuator, the three-way ball valve an be moved to any position. Using either the AKM-230/24/UNI atuator or the AKF-230/24/UNIT atuator with spring return, it is possible to implement a mixing funtion aross the three-way ball valve. A diverting funtion is not permissible. Diretion of flow A Desription These ball valves are notable for their great reliability and auray, and make a major ontribution to providing environmentally-friendly ontrol. They omply with the most demanding requirements, suh as a quik-losing funtion, oping with differential pressures, ontrolling media temperatures and providing a shut-off faility and almost silently. The spindle of the ball valve is automatially onneted to the pin of the atuator. The brass ball regulates an equal-perentage flow in the ontrol passage and a linear flow in the mixing passage. The tightness of the ball is safeguarded by the Teflon ollars that are fitted in the body. An EPDM O-ring is inserted behind these two ollars in the ontrol passage. These O-rings permit the ball and both ollars to make a small axial movement, whih provides an extremely good seal and generates little torque. The tightness of the spindle is safeguarded by two O-rings; these annot be replaed. Engineering and fitting notes The ball valves are ombined with rotary atuators with or without spring return. The atuator is diretly attahed to the ball valve and held in plae by a bayonet onnetion. The atuator axle is onneted to the spindle automatially, for whih purpose the axle of the ball valve should be in an intermediate position. When the system is being put into servie, the SUT atuator moves to the open position (for the ontrol passage), and both devies are B AB onneted automatially. The angle of rotation of the ball valve is also deteted by the atuator; no further settings are neessary. These SUT atuators allow the harateristi of the ontrol passage to be hanged from linear to quadrati or vie versa. In order to prevent the ball valve from bloking in the end positions, the SUT atuator makes a movement of about 30 if the positioning signal has not hanged in the end positions for three days. In order to prevent impurities (e.g. welding beads, rust partiles et.) from entering the water and damaging the Teflon ollars, strainers (dirt traps) should be fitted, e.g. on eah floor or in eah dut run. For strainers, see aessories; observe usage reoendations and temperature range for eah type. The omposition of the water should be in aordane with VDI2035. All ball valves should be used only in losed iruits. If used in open iruits, an exessive oxygen mixture may damage the ball valves. To prevent this from happening, use an oxygen binding agent, but onsult the manufaturer of the binding agent with regard to ompatibility and orrosion. Please refer to the materials list below. The fittings are usually insulated in the systems. owever, the flange that holds the atuator should not be insulated. In order to prevent flow noise in quiet rooms, the pressure differene aross the ball valve should not exeed 50% of the speified values. The rank handle is fixed to the atuator. To operate the rank handle, the manual adjuster on the atuator should be pushed downwards, The atuator will not operate until this knob is moved bak to the upper position. There is also a squared end on the rank handle that mathes the squared end of the ball valve's spindle. Using with water When using water, mixed with glyol or an inhibitor, onsult the manufaturer with regard to the ompatibility of the materials and seals used in the ball valves. Please refer to the list of materials shown in Material Delaration MD 56.091. If glyol is used, we reoend a onentration of between 20% and 50%. The ball valves are not suitable for use in potentially explosive areas. The materials that have been seleted have been approved for use with drinking water. The ball valve as a whole has not been ertified for use with drinking water. Permissible fitting positions The ontrol unit an be fitted in any position; however, we do not reoend fitting it in the upside-down position. The ingress of ondensate, drops of water et. into the atuator should be prevented. www.syxthsense.om

The valve, as a traversed element, is haraterised by this parameter speifially in its hydrauli behaviour. By monitoring avitation, erosion and the noise thus produed, improvements an be ahieved in both life expetany and operational apaity. pmax: Maximum permissible pressure differene aross the valve at whih the atuator an reliably open and lose the valve. Stati pressure and fluidi influenes are taken into aount. This value helps to maintain a smooth stroke ation and the high level of sealing. In doing so, the valve's p v value is never exeeded. ps: Maximum permissible pressure differene aross the valve in the event of a malfuntion (e.g. power failure, exess temperature or pressure, burst pipe) at whih the atuator an firmly lose the valve and, if neessary, hold the full operating pressure against atmospheri pressure. Sine this is a quik-losing funtion with 'fast' rotation, p s an be greater than p max or. p v. The resultant fluidi disturbanes are soon overome and play a minor role here. pstat: ine pressure behind the valve. This orresponds largely to the dead pressure when the pump is swithed off, e.g. due to the level of liquid in the installation, an inrease in pressure via the pressure store, steam pressure et. 4/6 www.syxthsense.om
