Date: 6 th April Thank you Rita for doing the blog last week for me. I m back from babysitting in the snow to the rain. Think I prefer the tantrums of a 3year old than my own for not being able to play golf, yet again. The Bluebell competition was cancelled, due to rain, and will be played On Bank Holiday Monday. 28th May. Twenty four (including two brave men) attended Linda Scraces talk on A mind for Golf We all know what to do mentally and physically-but, what happens when we are on the course? I use the royal we of course. Looking forward to my Charity Bridge on Wednesday. It is nearly full. Thank you all for supporting it. should be a fun noisy afternoon, with cream tea. Helen Willford will be demonstrating Chinese cooking on Friday night. There are still a few places left. Please book at the bar. For the Ladies-the Friendlies are in full swing and Beales and Stoneham matches due to start soon. Good luck to all those who will be playing in them. The Mixed Friendlies start with playing at Barton on Sea on Sunday 15th April. Thank you to those going out to play at 8.30 in the morning.

Date: 29 th March As Naila is on the slopes skiing or babysitting this week, she has asked me to write her Blog. Here goes: The Chinese Evening is coming up on 13th April. It will be a demonstration and then the lovely Chinese will be served to you all. Similar to the Curry Evening. Book your tickets over the bar. Sure to be a good evening. We have the Lady Captain's Charity Bridge day on Wednesday 11 th April. There are still some spaces available if any ladies or men would like join in and have an afternoon tea. Again please book at the bar for this event. Three of our ladies took part in an Open at Hamptworth last Friday and managed to win first prize. Congratulations to Patricia Norman, Jill Melbourne and Jane Kingsley. A big thank you to all the ladies that have been working hard on the course and around the gardens as Badgers. You have done a tremendous job. We had a Cross Country 12 hole competition on Sunday with some ladies taking part. It was interesting and I think everyone enjoyed the different way of playing the course and it wasn't raining. Well done to the winners playing with two men who were Pam Capon and Jennie Simpson. Another Tuesday with no golf for the Ladies. Some Ladies have now taken to Knitting. If this weather continues we'll be having 'knit and natter' courses! A Happy Easter to all the Ladies and lets hope the weather improves as we start going into April. Rita Gregory Ladies Vice Captain

Date: 23 rd March Another Tuesday with no golf. The Ladies are going to run out of gossip (is that possible!) We met up for coffee instead and then some of us stayed on for bridge. Kevan managed to get the course open yesterday, so we were able to continue playing our winter league. Semi-finals next week. I am making final preparations for Mind of golf talk on Tuesday afternoon. Anyone else like to come, please let me know. Also preparations for the Chinese demo on 13th April. A good number coming, but always room for more. Should be good fun and interesting. Do you know how to make wantons -do you know what a wanton is? I didn t till Helen told me. Before the Chinese demo is my Charity Bridge afternoon on Wednesday 11th April, with scrumptious b cream tea. We have 17 table already. Josh assures me we can take more. So if you haven t booked for any of the aboveplease do at the bar.

Date: 16 th March Luncheon Cup to start the golf season at Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club Winners - of the Greensome match: Liz Cruse and Aiko Wilson with a great score of 36 With - and Vice-Captain Rita Gregory. The golfing season should start now.. 32 Ladies had supper on Monday evening, when the draw and sweepstake took place. 28 Ladies went out on Tuesday. Thank you Kevin for making the course and no temporary greens, The winners, with a great score, were Aiko Wilson and Liz Cruse. It was an extra birthday present for Liz! Soon the other events will start, May I make a plea for raffle prizes please-for both Men and ladies events. Proceeds will go to the Captains charity and mine. Thank you!

Date: 8 th March We had a great 12-hole game on Tuesday with Captains V Secretaries competition. I m happy to say the Captains won. Good fun competition. It was touch and go whether the course would be open or not. As it turned out - it was open, but carry only, hence the twelve holes. I m looking forward to the Games evening on Friday night. Something different for the club. Don t forget the other social golf and non-golfing events coming up. Please sign up as soon as you can. P.S. Snow stopped play for the members last week, but the horses enjoyed the course!

Date: 16 th February Donations at the bar I am doing a skydive on 19th May this year to raise funds for my charity Leukaemia Busters. Would be grateful for any donation you may care to give - it would be encouraging. Donation can also be made through my donate page: https://mydonate.bt.com/fundraisers/nailawebb1 Other news: another week of not being able to play golf-it always seems to rain on a Tuesday! Social events are up on the board to sign up - please do join in. Everyone welcome on the walk, Moor Valley Golf and The Bombay Sapphire Distillery Tour. Curry Demonstration tonight is a sell-out! Next event is the Games Evening on the 9th March. Sixty have signed up there is still space for a few more.

Date: 8 th February Still cold-but the girls are going out and playing in the Ladies Tuesday Competitions. We met some lovely new members and potential members at the New Members do. Lovely to see the clubhouse buzzing. My curry demo is almost full-nearly 80 people, which is great. Hope Helen s Chinese demo will be as successful in April. I have put up a sign-up sheet on the Social Mixed board for social events organised for the year. Also let me know if anyone else would like to come to Mind for Golf; on April 3rd at 2.30pm. The Ladies next big event is the Ladies Open on 5th May, which, I ve been told, is full with a waiting list. Great news. We do need raffle prizes (unwanted Christmas presents???) for that and other future events. I also have a button on the bar till (thank you Fred) for donations to sponsor me for my skydive on May 19th for Leukaemia Busters. There will be a sponsor sheet to sign as well, especially if you are a tax payer. I will also have facilities to donate on line. Thank you in advance. I must admit, I didn t brave it-but kept hearing players commenting that they had chosen the wrong clubs! Neverthelessgood fun. My Indian Curry demonstration is filling up - Thank you. I am looking forward to dressing up and showing off! Don t forget Ricks Games Evening on the 9 th March - should be a laugh. Unfortunately, the bridge evening planned for the 7th February had to be cancelled. The last one, before the Summer break will be on the 7 th March - please join in. Of course, we still have my Charity Bridge afternoon- with cream tea on April 11 th - Book up in the office with Mark if you would like to come.

Date: 25 th January Not much golf being played at the moment but Judy McConnell has been going through rules using the 12th and 3rd holes as example. Very informative, indeed-than you Judy. She has produced notes, so if anyone would like a copy (for a small donation to my charity!!), please let me know. However useful that may be, I know, we would rather be playing golf. I am looking forward to meeting the new members on Tuesday 6 th February between 6 and 8, Have met some of you, but would be nice to have time to go through Ladies pick-ups, listed for partners wanted etc. Don t forget my Indian Cookery demo with supper on 16th Feb and the Games evening on 9th March. More events to come. Mixed Invitation forms are available from Mark-please do join in. It s good to show off our lovely course and facilities.

Date: 4 th January 2018 Happy New Year to all. I m sure 2018 will be a good golfing year, when it dries up. The New Years Eve celebrations went very well at the club. Ian put on an excellent spread and The Cavalier Jazzmen(a group of exprofessional jazz players who have played previously at Ronnie Scotts, The Concorde club and Jazz venues around the world.) got people up and dancing. The bar staff kept everyone happy. All in all, a very good evening - Thank you all who joined in and helped. Thank you also to Pam Capon for helping to decorate the room. The next event I am involved with is my Curry Demonstration and buffet supper. This will be held at the club on Friday 16th February starting at 6.30pm. I already have 10 on my list-so do add yourselves, and anyone else you wish to bring. Please put your names down and pay at the bar.

Date: 15 th December 2017 Ladies Christmas 12-Hole & Lunch 2017 Tuesday 12 th December Due to icy conditions, we ended up playing 9 holes, with half the field. Kevin Glass managed to open the course with trolleys at 10am, much to the relief of the Ladies. Good golfing, interesting putting! 62 members attended to the Christmas lunch. This included social members and associated Members. It was a chance to mingle with the friendly ladies. Sally Cross and Margaret Porteus manned the produce stall and Mary Hayter organised the quiz and a wager game. 99.80 was raised for my charity Leukaemia Busters. Jeanette Cording said a grace in rhyme and Judy gave an outline of the success of the introduction of the Colt course, blue tees, in form of a poem. As you can see from the picture it was a very enjoyable day thanks to the catering and bar staff.
