Transcription:

We are so excited to kick off the beginning of another successful season at Cheer Factory! ALL STAR, PREP & SHOW TEAM: We want all our cheerleaders to feel comfortable, so this is just some basics about what to expect at tryouts. We will have a MANDATORY parent meeting 1 hour before tryouts begin to go over basic tryout information, skill assessment and general rules regarding team placement. Athletes will be allowed to stretch and get warmed up during the parent meeting. Athletes should attend tryouts with hair pulled up in a ponytail, wearing shorts or spanx, cheer shoes or lightweight tennis shoes and a t-shirt, sports bra or tank top (and a bow doesn t hurt!) Each athlete will be asked to perform jumps, running tumbling and standing tumbling. Flexibility and flyer candidates will be assessed during tryouts as well. The tryout will conclude with a short interview to get an idea of the athlete s goals for the next year. PLEASE NOTE: Tryouts are CLOSED to spectators/parents To register and sign up for tryout time, each athlete must: 1. Complete and submit in the 2018-2019 Cheer Factory Registration Form and Program Rules and Regulations Form. 2. Turn in a copy of the athlete s birth certificate (new members). 3. Complete and turn in all competition waiver(s) at the end of the packet. 4. Submit the non-refundable $35.00 per athlete tryout fee and $35.00 Annual Membership Fee. 5. Tryouts will consist of individual and group evaluations, so athletes will be required to stay the FULL 3 hours for tryouts. Athletes may bring a light snack and water to enjoy during breaks. *New forms are required every season, so even returning members must turn in all the above listed paperwork to register for the 2018-2019 season. ALL athletes will be required to pay an annual membership fee (per athlete) when registering for the 2018-2019 season. NO ATHLETE WILL BE ALLOWED TO REGISTER WITH AN OUTSTANDING BALANCE. Accounts with a balance MUST meet with management before scheduling a tryout. CURRENT CF MEMBERS WITH DELINQUENT ACCOUNT HISTORY WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY A $500.00 DEPOSIT PER ATHLETE UP FRONT TO REGISTER FOR A TRYOUT. 2018-2019 ALL Level Tryouts will be held: Saturday, March 31 st BRENHAM LOCATION: Mandatory Parent Meeting: 9:00 a.m. All Level Tryouts: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. HUMBLE LOCATION: Mandatory Parent Meeting: 3:00 p.m. All Level Tryouts: 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. **We will hold a secondary tryout April 21 st if spots are still available on teams. Athletes are STRONGLY encouraged to attend our March 31 st tryouts. Walk-ins are welcome at tryouts, but please understand that ALL fees and registration paperwork will be due upon arrival. If you have a conflict with the tryout date and cannot schedule a time that works for you, a late tryout can be scheduled for an additional fee by emailing admin@cheerfactorytx.com.

2018-2019 Flyer Tryouts: Flyer Tryouts: We will be holding flyer evaluations for athletes who wish to be a flyer for next season during the regular tryout time, so we can evaluate them individually and in stunt groups. Flyers will demonstrate flexibility, body control, technique and potential. Participating in flyer tryouts does not guarantee a spot as a flyer. Please note, any athlete chosen as a flyer for the 2018-2019 season will be REQUIRED to take Flight School each week to help improve their flexibility and flight skills. TRYOUT RESULTS: Team placement results will be posted on our website and FB page no later than 8:00 p.m. April 9th. Practices for the new season will begin in June. NEW THIS YEAR: In order to allow our athletes to enjoy their summer we will be implementing a flex practice schedule that will have some mandatory practice dates throughout the summer while other practice days will be flex for vacations and other activities. The flex practices should be utilized to obtain new skills and improve technique if the athlete is in town and available for their scheduled workout day/time. During June and July flex workouts it is possible that athletes may be moved around to other teams at the coaches discretion. Regular MANDATORY practices will begin in August. Registering with Cheer Factory and securing a tryout time DOES NOT necessarily guarantee an athlete a position on a competitive team. Athletes not placed on any team for the 2018-2019 season will be refunded any fees paid in advance. If you ARE placed on a team at Cheer Factory and choose to decline the position, there will be NO REFUND issued. COMPETITIVE TEAM COMMITMENTS: Cheer Factory is an organized YEAR ROUND (June-May) program/commitment. Competitive athletes are expected to attend all competitions and practices as a team. We realize that many children and/or young adults are involved in a variety of activities. However, we cannot make exceptions for schedule conflicts. We expect top priority and 100% commitment and attendance. Cheer Factory reserves the right to remove athletes from the program for failure to adhere to any of the guidelines on the following page. FITTINGS (new athletes): Uniform and practice wear fittings will take place during the first part of the summer, date to be announced after team placement and practices have begun. If for some reason you cannot make it during that time you will need to fill out the form at the end of the packet. We will be utilizing the same practice wear as last season so only new athletes will be required to purchase new practice wear. OFFICE HOURS: The front desk is open from 4-9pm Monday thru Thursday. You can register in person anytime during those hours or by emailing admin@cheerfactorytx.com. You can drop off registration forms and make your payments at the front desk.

TEAM PLACEMENT: Athletes are divided into teams based on two factors: age and skill level. Both factors are outlined below to give you a better understanding of all-star cheerleading team placement. Age Breakdown (as of August 31st, 2018): Show Ages 3-5 Tiny Ages 6 and younger Mini Ages 8 and younger Youth Ages 11 and younger Junior Ages 14 and younger Senior Ages 11-18 Worlds Teams Ages 13-18 (14+ for International) *These age groups may be subject to change according to USASF updates. SKILL LEVEL BREAKDOWN: Athletes are evaluated based on their execution of tumbling, jumps and stunts. All are important and taken into consideration when putting together successful teams. Required skills are listed at each level for your benefit. All skills must be maintained to remain on any given level/team. Cheer Factory reserves the right to move an athlete from one team to another at any point in the season (up OR down) based on performance, ability, necessity or for any other reason. Skills must be performed at a high level of execution to be considered for placement. This means ALL SKILLS must be performance ready. This is essential for teams to score in the highest ranges on the score sheet at competitions. For the best competitive experience, athletes should always be performing his/her highest level of MASTERED skills. For example, just because an athlete can land on her feet in a standing back at tryouts, does not mean she is a level 4 competitor. She should still be participating on a level 3 team until the skill can be performed in the middle of a routine with flawless technique. Specifically, legs must be completely straight with pointed toes when executing front and back walkovers. Legs must be straight and together in all back handsprings. All air-borne skills must be executed with good height and direction (up not back). Layouts, fulls/doubles must be in a hollow body position with legs straight and together. All standing tumbling must "stick and stand".

STANDARD BILLING PROCEDURES Fees will post to your CF account on the 1st of the month in which it's due. A late fee of $20 will be applied if not received by the 5th. All unpaid balances will be charged to the card/bank account on file on the 6th of each month with a late fee. If you prefer NOT to charge the card on file, you must bring in cash or check by the 5th of the month (or sooner should the gym be closed). All accounts are required to have a valid credit card on file at all times even if paying by cash or check monthly. It is your responsibility to fill out a new CC authorization form for lost/stolen/expired cards, billing address changes, etc. All applicable fees will be charged if the card on file is declined for ANY REASON. For autopay accounts, if payment is returned for any reason you will have 24 hours to clear the account or a $20 late fee will be applied. In the event of a returned payment, a NSF fee of $35.00 will be charged to my account.

No account will be allowed to have fees roll over from month to month. Athletes with a balance will not be allowed to participate in class until ALL fees are paid in full. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED THIS SEASON. In the event that my athlete withdraws from the competitive program for any reason during the season all fees paid will be forfeited including tuition deposit and competition fees. BREAKDOWN OF FEES Membership Fee: The $35 per athlete non-refundable registration fee is due up front to participate in any Cheer Factory classes, teams or clinics. No participants will be placed on a Cheer Factory team or allowed to practice at CF without having paid this fee each year. Everyone is required to pay this fee each year upon registration renewal. That fee is good for one cheer season, which goes from June 2018-May 2019. Tryout Fee: The tryout fee of $35 per athlete is a non-refundable fee due up front to hold your tryout reservation and process paperwork. No participants will be allowed to tryout for a Cheer Factory team without having paid this fee. Monthly Tuition: Families with multiple athletes will receive a 20% discount off any additional sibling s team tuition. The 20% tuition discount will be applied to the lesser value of tuition when applicable. Cousins, neighbors, etc. are NOT considered siblings. (All other fees will apply per athlete.) USASF Membership: The United States All Star Federation (USASF) is currently the main governing presence in competitive all-star cheerleading. USASF requires that ALL athletes certify to be eligible to compete during the 2018-2019 season. The fee will be paid on-line individually for ALL athletes beginning in September. Athletes that do not register with the USASF will not be eligible to compete for the 2018-2019 season. Parents will be notified when they should register/pay this fee. Practice Wear: Practice wear will not change this year, so only NEW members will be required to purchase practice wear. Additional pieces may be purchased by returning athletes but are not required. Choreography: All Star, Prep and Show (now called Novice) team athletes are required to attend a mandatory choreography camp for his/her team. The mandatory choreography fee includes the cost of choreography, instruction, music production and all extra choreography (extra practices) throughout the season. All members MUST pay this non-refundable fee, regardless of camp attendance, which would also include members who might join later in the season.

Competition Fees: Competition fees are NON-REFUNDABLE (even if the athlete quits, is removed or becomes injured.) All Star teams will attend 7 10 events per season, prep teams & show teams will attend 4-6 local events per season. Competition fees include event registration and an additional fee to cover staff expenses. The 2018-2019 Cheer Factory competition schedule will be determined based on event location, other competitors and various other factors to ensure a competitive and successful year for all teams. Once this schedule is set we will schedule a team meeting to discuss dates and cost, the exact fee will be calculated and broken into various payment plans/installments based on the number and cost of competitions. *Please note that competition fees do not include travel and lodging for out of town events. Practices and Absence Policy: * Each team will have a 2 hour practice twice a week. This will start immediately in the month of June so practicing twice a week is the minimum (even during the summer months). Extra practices could also be called on an as-needed basis. The two weekly practices and a tumbling class are included in the monthly tuition. Tuition does not increase for months where teams practice 10 times and does not decrease for months where teams may only practice 3 times. It is an average that will not be prorated or discounted for absences. * You must arrive to practice on time. Five minutes early is better than five minutes late! * The only excused absence is a mandatory school cheer function or a school function that results in a grade. All other absences are unexcused. Part-time jobs, dances, concerts, musicals, banquets, long distance driving, family reunions, weddings, recitals, school/church socials, and any other nonrelated school activities are unexcused. *Absences are NOT allowed for any reason the weekend prior to a competition or the week of a competition. *Cheer Factory will not have flex practices with scheduled mandatory practice dates during the 2018 summer (June-July) to help allow our athletes to enjoy summer activities. If possible, vacations should be scheduled during this time. Mandatory practices days for each team will be released after tryouts and team placement. *CHOREOGRAPHY CAMP IS MANDATORY. Dates will be released after team placement. * During the regular season, beginning in August, if for any reason there is a need to miss a practice you must submit the Absence Request Form at least 2 weeks in advance and it will either be approved or denied. (Absence request form at back of packet or pick one up at the front office.) * Forms must either be emailed to admin@cheerfactorytx.com or dropped off at the front desk. Forms received on the day of a scheduled practice will not be accepted. This includes school cheerleading, gymnastics, choir, band, and all other school sports. Your school activities are planned well in advance. Please submit your request in advance. A completed form does not automatically excuse the absence. *ALL absences must be approved by management, no other staff member has this authority. If an emergency arises the day of a practice, you will need to communicate directly with your team coach. Other staff cannot excuse athletes or pass along messages. * We will verify with school administration and the teaching staff if we think that someone is being dishonest with an absence request. Be prepared to show documentation from a teacher or instructor. You will be removed immediately if the request is falsified. No absences are permitted the week of an event. The greater the team s attendance, the less extra practices will be needed. * You must attend all practices, even when you are not feeling 100%. If you are ill enough to go see a doctor then you will be excused but a doctor s note must be provided. Athletes will be removed from our program for failing to follow this rule. Extended sickness such as mono or strep throat could jeopardize an athlete s ability to compete with their team upon returning if extensive change had to be made.

* If an athlete is injured, please notify Cheer Factory staff immediately. CF staff reserves the right to replace an injured individual for some or all of the remaining events. * Cheer Factory practice wear must be worn to all practices. If an athlete is missing any practice wear pieces at practice, a replacement item will be provided and charged to your CF account (this includes the bow). Athletes represent his/her team at all times it is imperative to be disciplined. * Cheer shoes are not optional. We are a cheer gym so please keep your shoes on at all times. * No jewelry can be worn in the gym at any time. * Only water is allowed in the gym. * We are here to work so please turn your cell phones off. CF is not responsible for lost or stolen items so please use discretion when bringing valuables to the gym. * There is a lost and found, however, any unclaimed items will be donated. * If you are not a Cheer Factory athlete or staff member, do not enter the gym area at any time. Parents are NEVER allowed to spot an athlete at the Cheer Factory facility or at an event. * Parents (including team moms) should NEVER coach a team, call extra practices or provide any kind of cheer instruction for athletes. * Cheer Factory reserves the right to close practices to parents or any other spectators. * Please try and stay healthy both in and out of the gym to help prevent any injuries from occurring. We encourage athletes to eat healthy, stay active and get plenty of rest. * Every athlete must be respectful to teammates, staff and parents at all times. Holiday Dates: The following dates are available for holidays and vacations throughout the 2016-2017 cheer season. These holiday closures apply to ALL Cheer Factory teams, classes, practices and office hours: Friday, May 25th - Monday, May 28th 2018 (Memorial Day Weekend) Wednesday, July 4th 2018 (Fourth of July) Friday, August 31st - Monday, September 3rd 2018 (Labor Day Weekend) Wednesday, November 21st Saturday, November 24th 2018 (Thanksgiving) *Sunday, November 25th will be a mandatory practice day Sunday, December 23rd 2018 Tuesday, January 1st 2019 (Christmas & New Years) *There will be no practices for Cheer Factory competition teams 12/23/18-1/1/19 Spring Break 2019 **An updated Holiday schedule will be released once the 2018-2019 school calendars have been released** WORLDS TEAM ATHLETES WILL HAVE MANY EXTRA PRACTICES THROUGHOUT THE YEAR AND THIS INCLUDES GYM CLOSURES. -Coaches will not be working around your schedule AT ALL. -If you are not all in then DO NOT try out for this position.

Competitions: * The official Cheer Factory competition schedule for the 2017-2018 season will be determined and sent out no later than July 31, 2018 * ALL COMPETITIONS ARE MANDATORY FOR EVERY ATHLETE. This means you must show up even if you re sick. No exceptions. Adjustments can be made if necessary to the routine at the event if athletes are unable to perform certain skills, but he/she must be present. * Every athlete must not only attend every competition, but they must be available the entire week/weekend of the event and the entire week/weekend leading up to the event - no exceptions. Failure to do so will result in permanent removal from the Cheer Factory program. * Athletes should be prepared to practice the entire weekend prior to and the week leading up to any event/competition, even if practices are scheduled last minute. Please be aware that once the competitions start, it will be very time consuming. * Upon arriving at competition, every athlete must be in full uniform from head to toe. This means a clean uniform top and bottom, hair fixed with bow in, full make-up, no show white socks, clean white cheer shoes and no jewelry, nail polish, or gum. Appropriate undergarments should be worn at all times so as not to distract from the uniform design (i.e. no hot pink bras.) Athletes will remain in uniform the entire time he/she is at an event even after performing. This means no unzipped skirts, uniform sleeves stay on and cheer shoes stay on at all times. * All athletes must attend ALL awards ceremonies pertaining to their team. * For awards athletes should look performance ready meaning no backpacks, no cell phones, no warm-ups and no t- shirts. Athletes should still be in full hair and make-up and look as if as if they are about to take the floor to compete. * Remember that you are representing Cheer Factory at all times. Please represent us, and yourself, well. * Athletes should have great sportsmanship, regardless of whether we win or lose. This includes respect for athletes, parents, coaches AND toward other programs. We want to be perceived as a class act program so please act accordingly. * Athletes and parents should NEVER post something on social media that can be perceived as negative toward another athlete or team or program or coach, etc. * We expect for every athlete to watch and cheer for other Cheer Factory teams. This may mean you may have to arrive earlier or leave later than required for your own performances/awards. Poor sportsmanship by athletes or parents may cause removal from the program. * At competitions the main priority of a coach is to safely prepare the athletes for their performances. After that, our next priority is to support our teams as they perform. Depending on the schedule, this means that all of our team s coaches may not be able to stand with a team as their awards are handed out, or, in rare cases (at events with multiple venues) during a performance. We will do anything we can to get as many of the coaches there, but sometimes it is just not possible. * Some competitions may require us to compete on a Friday and/or may require your athlete to miss a part/full day of school. When selecting competitions for our program, this is one of the first things we take into consideration. We will strive to keep our athletes from missing as much school as possible, but sometimes it is inevitable. * Cheer Factory has a reputation of very enthusiastic fans at competition and we would like to keep it that way! It is important for our parents to be loud and supportive for ALL of our Cheer Factory teams. In fact, it should sound like you are at a play-off game cheering on your favorite sports team. (Face paint optional!)

Hotel Accommodations: * Most out-of-town competitions now implement a stay to play policy, which requires all Cheer Factory athletes to book through a specific travel company. Failure to do so could result in our teams disqualification. After the 2018-2019 competition schedule is set, you will receive detailed instructions on booking hotels for stay to play events. * For out-of-town events without the stay to play policy, Cheer Factory may choose to designate a team hotel. In an effort to prevent additional coach s fees as well as secure hotel practice space for teams, all athletes may be required to stay in the team hotel. * We will select team hotels after we release our competition schedule so you are able to make reservations months in advance. This is a wonderful time for athletes and parents to get to know each other. * Teams may be required to meet or practice at the team hotel any time throughout the weekend of an out-of town competition at the coach s request. Athletes should be available the evening before an event for practice and remain flexible in case other practices and/ meetings need to be scheduled during a competition weekend. * Feel free to find a roommate on your own to cut costs. Some families prefer to travel with siblings and spouses, which is also fine. Parents will be responsible for athletes in the hotel. Cheer Factory will not assist with finding roommates. Choreography Camp: * All prep teams and all star teams will attend camp in the Cheer Factory facility to learn routines.
