Summer Training Program (STP) for High School CAMP DATES: June 9 th through July 24 th for Fall Sports (Football, Volleyball, Cross Country). June 16 th through July 31 st for Olympic sports CAMP Deer Park High School- South Campus; report to the practice fields Session 1: 7:30 am 9:30 am- designed for athletes currently participating in the Deer Park High School Strength and Conditioning Program. Session 2: 9:45 am 11:45 am- designed for all incoming freshman athletes and newcomers to Deer Park Athletics. Session 3: 5:00 pm 7:00 am- designed to accommodate those athletes who cannot attend a morning session. This session will end on July 25 th for both groups. Summer Training Camp will be off during the week of June 30 th through July 3rd. The Deer Park Summer Training Program (STP) is available to all current Deer Park High School athletes (including incoming freshman). This program is designed to give our athletes the opportunity to gain a competitive edge through strength and conditioning. Every athlete will participate in a dynamic warmup to develop joint stability and flexibility, as well as balance, coordination and body awareness. After the warm-up, athletes will move into the weight room for strength training or to the speed, agility, and quickness development stations. Each of these development sessions is approximately 45 minutes. The speed and agility development training is based on developing the total athlete (drills to improve proper movement mechanics, first step quickness, explosive power, speed, agility, and deceleration). In the weight room, athletes will receive an individualized, well balanced strength program designed with an emphasis on technique and sound mechanics to aide in the prevention of injuries and improvement of sports performance. All programs are designed by our Certified Strength and Conditioning coaches and implemented by our Deer Park ISD coaches. This gives our athletes a unique opportunity to continue to develop relationships with their coaches outside of their particular sport. Athletes should wear proper athletic clothing (shorts & t-shirt), and appropriate athletic footwear to workout sessions. Cleats are recommended for the outside stations and tennis shoes are required for the weight room. We encourage you to bring a bottle for refilling water as well. Please keep any valuables in your vehicle. We will not issue lockers. COST: Early Registration (on/before May 31 st ): $125 Late Registration (after May 31 st ): $140 Family Rate: 20% off 2 nd Child Payment Plans are available. Student athletes who can show documented proof of qualifications for Free and Reduced Lunch should contact Coach Doug Bull for payment alternatives. Swimming Summer Training Program CAMP DATES: June 16 th through July 31 st Deer Park High School- South Campus Swimming Pool and Weight Room 7:00 9:00 am: Pool workout with swimming coaches. 9:30-10:30am: Weight Room training Camp Days are Monday through Thursday. Summer Training Camp will be off during the week of June 30 th through July 3 rd. The Deer Park Summer Swimming Training Program is available to all current Deer Park High School swimmers (including incoming freshman). This program is designed to give our athletes the opportunity to gain a competitive edge through strength and conditioning. All swimmers and divers will benefit from this program and are encouraged to attend. Exercise Scientists and swimming coaches agree that the development of muscular strength and power are essential elements in swim training and important predictors of competitive success. The key lies in how the program is implemented. We have a few main points of focus that we will address on a daily basis. Including but not limited to: Explosive movements (blocks/turns) Core stability Shoulder strength and stability (injury prevention) Overall functional strength Athletes will receive an individualized, well balanced strength program designed with an emphasis on technique and sound mechanics to aide in the prevention of injuries and improvement of sports performance. All programs are designed by our Certified Strength and Conditioning coaches and implemented by our Deer Park ISD coaches. Athletes should wear proper athletic clothing (shorts & t-shirt), and appropriate athletic footwear to workout sessions in the weight room. Please keep any valuables in your vehicle. We will not issue lockers and will not be responsible for lost or stolen items. COST: Early Registration (on/before May 30 th ): $50 Late Registration (after May 30 th ): $65 Family Rate: 20% off 2 nd Child Payment Plans are available. Junior High Summer Training Camp CAMP DATES: June 9 th through July 17 th North Campus Weight Room and Practice Field (located next to Volleyball Gym) Session 1: 7:30 am 9:00 am- Session 2: 9:30 am 11:00 am- Training days are Monday through Thursday. Summer Training Camp will not have training on July 3 rd. The Deer Park Summer Training Camp is available to all current Deer Park ISD Junior High athletes (incoming 7 th and 8 th graders). This program is designed to give our young athletes a foundation in the world of speed, strength, agility, balance, and proper movement techniques. With this foundation, the participants will be able to use the newly acquired skills in their current sports as well as take the knowledge gained with them on into their high school careers and beyond. Our programs are designed by our Certified Strength and Conditioning coaches and implemented by our Deer Park ISD coaches. This gives our athletes a unique opportunity to continue to develop relationships with their coaches outside of their particular sport. WHY SHOULD JUNIOR HIGH ATHLETES PARTICIPATE IN A STRENGTH TRAINING PROGRAM? Research indicates that maximum coordination is developed between the ages of 9 and 13, and that most young athletes who are involved with sports are lacking in the following areas: proper flexibility, range of motion, body coordination, and strength of musculature and connective tissue. With a proper strength and conditioning program, young athletes can reduce the chances of injury, stay healthy, and become successful at their sport. We want to assure you that our goal is not to find out how much our Junior High athletes can lift, but rather how they lift, how they run, how they change directions. Developing these good habits at an early age will enhance their athletic skills and better prepare the athlete for the rigors of continued athletic training. Athletes should wear proper athletic clothing (shorts & t-shirt), and appropriate athletic footwear to workout sessions. Cleats are recommended for the outside stations and tennis shoes are required for the weight room. Other Items include: towel, gym bag, snack, water, a positive attitude and an open mind. Please do not bring valuables. We will not issue lockers and will not be responsible for lost or stolen items. COST: Early Registration (on/before May 31 st ): $110 Late Registration (after May 31 st ): $125 Family Rate: 20% off 2 nd Child Payment Plans are available. Student Athletes who can show documented proof of qualifications for Free and Reduced Lunch should contact Coach Doug Bull for payment alternatives.
