Ronald McDonald House Charities Grissom is once again collected pop tabs to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities! The pop tabs are recycled and sold for scrap metal. Last year, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana raised more than $40,000 from this program. A collection box will be in the Commons for your donations!
6 th /7 th Grade Boys Volleyball The Patriots defeated Tinley in the SWIC Championship on Saturday to capture the 2 nd tournament championship in school history!! The team finished with a 13-1 record on the season. All of the players contributed with many outstanding plays during the final match and throughout the season!
Remember to bring in your spare change to benefit the Tinley Wish Foundation. Grade level teams will compete, with the top team overall getting a free gym period! Pennies count as negative points put those in other team s bins! Silver coins and dollar bills count as positive points put those in your team s bins!
6 th /7 th Girls Basketball The Lady Patriots came in 5 th place at the SWIC tournament Saturday, beating OLHMS by a score of 35-22! Congratulations to the team and to Samantha Fratto and Emily Tobin for being named to the All-Conference team!
Newspaper Club Newspaper Club will meet today until 4:00 in Room 222.
Cadet/Jazz Band Concert The Kirby 140 Cadet and Jazz Bands will perform in concert Wednesday night at 7:30 here at Grissom!
Boys Basketball Tryouts Tryouts are today from 4:45-6:45 for 6 th and 7 th graders and from 4:45 to 6:00 for 8 th graders.
Crayola ColorCycle Students and teachers will soon be collecting used markers (any brand!) to be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more! Boxes will be located in the Commons. The Crayola ColorCycle program can keep tons of plastic out of landfills each year! Remember, don t throw out that used marker ColorCycle it!
Cheer/Dance Team All Cheer/Dance team members, please bring comfy clothes to practice each day! First practice is after school today until 5 pm. Meet in Room 210. *Mandatory parent meeting is at 5:00 in the Art Room!
KSD 140 Special Olympics Congratulations to the Kirby 140 Special Olympics Basketball team! They were victorious against Oak Lawn last night! The team plays again at PV on Thursday, Dec. 14 th at 6:30 pm. Come out and show your support for our Special Olympians!
14th Annual Remembering Cathy & Allison Toy Drive Grissom is once again collecting toys for the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation. Please drop off unwrapped toys in the box in the Main Office. Deadline for donations is Wednesday, Dec. 20 th.

Student Support Before and after school Student Support is offered from 8:00-8:35 am each morning, and from 3:10-4:05 pm Monday through Thursday. You must arrive at the beginning of the session and stay for the whole time!
Water Bottle Filling Station Challenge Last year Grissom Patriots saved over 6,600 plastic water bottles from ending up in landfills by using the water bottle filling stations throughout the building. Please remember to use these instead of plastic bottles. So far this year, we ve saved 4,542 bottles from landfills! Let s beat last year s total!
