M Moody News Forward with the People October 27, 2017 What's Inside? Football Loses In a Split Site Night JH Volleyball loses Season Finale Cotton Harvest Festival 2017 Kyleigh Mach, Kaleb Goodman, and Marianna Allen Moody put on an amazing show at the Cotton Harvest Festival. Kicking it off with a parade where the whole community got involved in. Our very own Moody ISD was represented by floats done by each of our 3 schools. After the parade, people shopped and ate from the vendors lining downtown Moody. This year, like previous years, Moody Cotton Fest had a car show with all types of cars, rat rods, and classic cars as well. There were several events involving competition, like a donut eating contest. The rules were simple, who could eat the most donuts in 3 minutes. Then there was a very competitive horseshoe tournament. To finish off the event, there were several awesome bands playing to close the night off with, including a band made up of members of our high school and band directors. This festival was definitely a day to remember. NBA Basketball Update #HashtagHolidays Red Ribbon Week Cotton Harvest Was a Success High School News & Notes Images of the Week
Wolfenstein: The New Colossus Trevor Thrasher and Davis Herod Wolfenstein is set to come out October 27, 2017, and hopefully live up to it s predecessors. The first games being, Wolfenstein 3D and Wolfenstein: The New Order. were wildly successful. Wolfenstein is widely credited for helping send the FPS franchise to it s current popularity. The game is based in a world where the Nazis won World War II, and Wolfenstein follows the dark path about what could have been. The story follows William B.j Blazkowicz as he is followed by the Nazi officials as they know him, Terror Billy. Get your parents approval to play, it is rated M. Enjoy your new game for the week! "Everyday is a new beginning. Stay away from what might have been, and look to what could be." -Anonymous #HashtagHolidays for the Week Michael Lowe & Steven Longacre #Internet day is coming soon. This is the day to appreciate computers, phones, etc. But we should appreciate these things everyday because they make the majority of our natural lives. So please appreciate your device. While the internet may not have been possible without many other inventions that came before it, it s hard to find any other invention that has had such a monumental impact on mankind. That s why, since October 29, 2005, we ve been celebrating the anniversary of the first internet transmission. Celebrate this day accordingly, see you online! #InternetDay
Volleyball Loses Season Finale Football Loses In a Split Site Week Hannah Welch and Haylee Rogers Rene Contreras and Cypress Goodwin Monday night was the girl s last volleyball game for the season against Bremond and they went out with a bang. The combo lost but they were very close in points all around. The seventh grade team came out and fought for that W but was sadly beat by Bremond. The seventh grade had many digs and a couple serving streaks. After the seventh grade team, the eighth grade came out and played with all their heart. Their serves, spikes, sets, bumps, everything was on point! They really showed us how good they can really be! But the other team's skills were unfortunately better, they will work harder to beat them next year! They lost the first game by 3 points and they lost the second game by only a couple points. It was one of the best games the eighth grade has ever played. We say goodbye to volleyball season, and begin to work on our next game, basketball. Good luck to our 8th graders as they will play high school ball next year, and our 7th graders as they will now become the leaders of junior high volleyball next year. The white team played a close game but lost in the end 16-22. Ryder Hohhertz scored two touchdowns on runs opened up by great blocking on the edge from Davis Herod. Those scores were followed by 2 point conversions from both Ricky Aguilar and Sonny Carnavale. In the green team game, the offense started to roll several times after a slow start, with Gabriel Compean completing 6 passes for 72 yards and a long run of 25 yards. Jayden Fletcher caught 5 passes for 77 yards, including one 30 yard completion. Defense was lead by Rene Contreras with 13 tackles and a sack, and Hunter Mach with 6 tackles including 1 for loss. Unfortunately, the 'Cats turned the ball over too many times, and Thorndale won 27-0 Volleyball: V. Bremond 7th Grade: L 8th Grade: L Combo: L Scores for the Week: Football: V. Bosqueville V. NBA Hoops in Session Red Ribbon Week 2017 Kobe Kirven The NBA season is underway, with a couple of big stories in the first week. Unfortunately most were in a negative light. Last Saturday, the Golden State Warriors took on the Memphis Grizzlies but came short. Stephen Curry was thrown out of the game for throwing his mouth piece, and later fined. In the same game, Kevin Durant was thrown out of the game too. Kyrie Irving yelled expletives to a fan following their game against the Sixers, because of the comment made by the fan. The Celtics did win that game by a final of 102-92. Lonzo Ball lead the Lakers to a win against the Suns. After a bad first game, the popular rookie was one assist from having a triple double. Ball led the team in scoring in the game with 29 points. Eliza Foster and Gabby Smith Red ribbon week is where the kids and teachers deck out in efforts to keep kids off drugs.
