SCK01 AIR COMPRESSOR KIT WITH QUICK FITTINGS - SPRAY/BLOW/OIL GUN, TYRE INFLATOR & HOSE OWNER S MANUAL FOR YOUR SAFETY PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY AND RETAIN THEM FOR FUTURE USE.
SAFETY GUIDELINES BEFORE USE 1. Start with a clean and well lit work area. Tripping or catching yourself on something while working can cause serious injuries. 2. Keep children and animals away. Be aware of who is in your work area. 3. Store equipment safely. Keep air tools locked away in a dry location, away from children. 4. Be alert. Use your common sense and never operate an air tool if you are tired or your attention is being divided. 5. Check the condition of your equipment. Check your tools and air compressor over for damaged parts. AIR TOOLS & EQUIPMENT 1. Pressurised air can be dangerous. Ensure you fully understand all the precautions relating to the use of your air compressor and a compressed air system. 2. Keep the air stream away from yourself, others and animals. 3. Always ensure you re working at a safe operating pressure. Be careful not to exceed the input pressure of your air tools. 4. Turn off your air supply at the tool outlet and vent all compressed air from hoses and tools attached to it BEFORE disconnecting your air equipment/ system. 5. We recommend the use of safety glasses, goggles or a spray mask when using this tool kit. BLOW GUN 1. Wear a breathing mask as to protect against the inhalation of dust. SPRAY GUN 1. Never spray paint or oil close to a source of heat or flame. 2. Always work in a fully ventilated area with access to fresh air. 3. Wear an appropriate breathing mask when spraying in order to protect you against inhaling paint spray or fumes. Air feed masks might be required depending on the type of paint used. Always check your paint for toxicity in the manufacturer s instructions/ packaging. 4. Check all data sheets for paints. Make sure your paint is suitable for spraying. 5. Keep the spray gun disconnected from the air supply when not in use. 6. Never disassemble a spray gun while it s attached to an air supply. 7. Never exceed the maximum input pressure of 3.5 bar / 50 PSI 8. Always replace parts with like for like replacements for SGS Engineering WWW.SGS-ENGINEERING.COM PAGE 2

OPERATION WARNINGS CAUTION: SOME ITEMS IN THIS STARTER KIT HAVE A LOWER WORKING PRESSURE THAN MANY AIR COMPRESSORS CAN SUPPLY, YOU SHOULD THEREFORE INSTALL AN AIRLINE REGULATOR. CAUTION: DO NOT USE ANY OF THESE ITEMS WITH AN AIRLINE LUBRICATOR OPERATION - OIL GUN This gun is suitable for spraying cleaning agents such as paraffin and engine de-greaser. Preservatives like creosote can also be sprayed onto sheds and fences, etc. You can use this gun for spraying plants, trees and shrubs with insecticide. 1. Follow all safety precautions on previous pages. 2. Attach the air hose to your wash gun and compressor. 3. Adjust the nozzle to give a fine or coarse spray. Undo the locking ring and adjust the output by screwing in or out, the lock in place by screwing up the locking ring once again. WWW.SGS-ENGINEERING.COM PAGE 4
OPERATION - SPRAY GUN This spray gun is suitable for most conventional paints (check that your paint is suitable for spraying). The spray gun is fed with paint from the paint container. The airflow through the air cap draws paint into the nozzle assembly, where it is atomised and sprayed forward. We recommend using this gun with a tank mounted air compressor with motor power of 3 HP or above. Follow all safety precautions on previous pages. BEFORE PAINTING 1. Mix the paint to the specified viscosity for spraying according to the paint manufacturer s instructions and strain it into the paint container through a fine mesh filter. 2. Do not fill the paint container to more than 3/4 full. Make sure that the top edge of the container and lid are clean and free from damage before mounting the gun on the container. It is also very important to keep the container vent clear. 3. Remember that some modern paints require specialist respiratory protection. Always consult the paint manufacturers instructions. WARNING: NEVER ATTEMPT TO SPRAY UNLESS YOU ARE WEARING THE CORRECT SAFETY EQUIPMENT SUCH AS APPROVED RESPIRATORY MASK AND EYE PROTECTION. 4. Ensure that the area in which you will be spraying is clean and dust free. To obtain best results, it is vital that the surface to be sprayed is well prepared. It must be clean, free from dust, dirt and grease. Mask any area that is not to be sprayed and cover adjacent equipment to protect from overspray. PAGE 5
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS - SPRAY GUN This tool operates on clean, dry compressed air at regulated pressure at 2.5 to 3.5 bar. The compressed air contains moisture and other contaminate that will rust or wear internal parts of the tool. A filter will remove most foreign matter from the air supply to prolong the life of the tool. Use a filter and a pressure regulator located as close to the tool as possible. HANDLING 1. The proper handling of the gun will help you achieve the desired paint coating. 2. Grip the gun keeping it perpendicular with the spraying area and then move it back and forth parallel to the spraying area several times. 3. The stroke should be started before the trigger is pulled and the trigger should be released before the stroke is ended. 4. Set distance: keep the appropriate distance of 6-12 inches between the gun and spraying area, according the atomization pressure and work demand. WARNING 1. Never spray foods or chemicals through the spray gun. 2. Connect a fluid hose or a container to the fluid nipple tightly. 3. Never insert a wire or other hard item into the nozzle or fluid needle this will damage the gun. 4. Never immerse the whole gun into solvent such as this will damage the air cap, fluid nozzle and fluid needle. WWW.SGS-ENGINEERING.COM PAGE 6
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS - BLOW GUN Use this blow gun for displacing dust and wood shavings as well as swarf and metal filing. Take great care when using this item. Do not use high air pressures when cleaning dust from electrical or electronic components. The air supply should be completely clean and dry. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS - TYRE INFLATOR This lightweight pistol grip tyre inflator complete with air pressure gauge is suitable for inflating tyres on motor vehicles, cycles and trailers etc. 1. Attach the hose to the tyre inflator and fully tighten. 2. Remove the dust cap from the tyre valve and check that the tyre valve is clean before connecting. 3. Depress the lever on the end of the connector and push the connector fully home onto the tyre valve. Release the lever to hold the connector in position. (If the valve leaks, the connector may need repositioning). Correct position is confirmed by a steady reading on the gauge. 4. Check the tyre pressure on the gauge. 5. Pull the trigger to inflate the tyre, or press the button on the side of the pistol grip to deflate. Re-check the tyre pressure. When the tyre pressure is correct, carefully disconnect and remove the connector. Replace the dust cap on the tyre valve. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS - RECOIL HOSE The recoil hose included in this air compressor kit is fitted with connectors for use with the other items within the kit. PAGE 7
