Qualification allows you, as a combination, to enter (once registered) any class in which you are eligible. You are not restricted to only entering the class in which you originally qualified. There is no limit to the number of classes you enter but no responsibility will be accepted if you are unable to be at the ringside on time for the start of that class. In the event of an In hand exhibitor qualifying more than one pony and they are competing in the same class, they may designate a substitute handler for the extra pony. Riders in Ridden and Working Hunter classes at the Championships MUST be the same combination that qualified, NO rider substitutions. Qualification is NOT transferable and if a pony is bought or sold, the registration and qualification is no longer valid. Registration and/or qualification for the Novice/Open Championship classes does not give automatic entry at any time to The Amateur Elite Championships. These must be qualified for separately. Competitors are eligible to qualify for the Novice and Open Championships as well as the Amateur Elite Finals if they fit the criteria. Eligibility The qualifiers and championships are open to horses/ponies that have not qualified or competed at the Horse of The Year Show or The Royal International Show in 2015,2016 or 2017. Both the Novice/Open Championships and the Amateur Elite Finals are for the true amateur rider and home produced horses and ponies. Our definitions are as follows: Amateur Rider: Riders must not earn money for producing ponies and horses for clients. Riders not to earn money from buying/selling horses and ponies. Riders not to be paid to school horses/ponies or ride at shows. Riders not to be sponsored by any organisations. Any competitor actively running a Stud, for the production of new stock for breeding/selling is classed as a Professional. Home Produced: Horses must not have been kept on a producer s yard since 1st January 2015. Competitors may not knowingly exhibit any horse/pony that has been bred, sold, leased, produced, broken, ridden or trained by the Judge and/or his/her immediate family or his/her employer or anyone with whom he/she resides. Our rules will always be enforced and any competitor found to be in contempt of these will have their placings removed and invitations to further Championships removed. Novice Ruling Regardless of the number of Novice or Open classes a Four or Five year old may win, it will retain its Novice status at the commencement of its 6th year, with exception as given above for ANY combination placed or qualified for HOYS or Royal International. Any combination that has, aged six years old and over, won three or more Open or Restricted classes, regardless of prize money or gifts in kind, will automatically be classed as an Open competitor and no longer eligible for Novice classes. Rules and Regulations Whilst every effort will be taken, classes will not be held up, should there be any clashing, it is the Exhibitors responsibility to plan and check the rings accurately on the relevant day. Please Note the Amateur Elite Championship classes schedule can be found separately and not within this schedule. All classes are pre-entry, STRICTLY no entries accepted on the day. Any payment that has to be re-presented to the Bank, if not paid via our Online Entry System, will incur at 25 administration fee for each occasion. Equestrian Life Novice/Open Championships Show reserve the right to cancel or amend any class or section or split classes if they deem it fit and necessary. All class entries and stabling are non-refundable and can only be reclaimed after the event on production of a relevant Doctor/Veterinary certificate. All competitors enter the showground and classes at their own risk and whilst every effort is taken to ensure their safety, each person must be responsible for their own animal and property and Equestrian Life accepts no responsibility for any animal or property lost or damaged. Collecting rings will be easily located. Strictly NO LUNGING at any time. Horses and ponies are not to be tied-down for warming up and NO adults riding Children s ponies at any time. Competitor numbers must be displayed clearly at all times when mounted. Hats must also be worn. It is the responsibility of the competitor to be at their ring at the appropriate time. The Organisers will endeavour to give as much notice as possible. If a competitor is not able to make a class, please send someone to let a Steward know to avoid delays. The Judges decision is final. ANY objection must be made in writing within 45 minutes of the class with a deposit for 40 in cash, to be forfeited if the objection is over-ruled. This must be taken to the Show Secretary directly. Any Horse or Pony, which is not under the complete control of a competent rider or handler may be asked to leave the ring or showground if the Organisers believe they are a risk to other competitors. Body protectors may be worn and are recommended for the Working Hunter jumping phase. Stallions must only be handled by someone 14 years or over.
