Event information for Kingston, Merton & Wandsworth is the world s greatest festival of cycling with 100,000+ cyclists participating in events on trafficfree roads in London and Surrey. Events will take place in central London on Saturday 30 July 2016 and in London and Surrey on Sunday 31 July 2016. was developed by the Mayor of London, Transport for London and London & Partners in partnership with Surrey County Council in 2013 and is sponsored by Prudential. The event is managed by the London & Surrey Cycling Partnership. This booklet contains important information to help you plan your travel around Kingston, Merton and Wandsworth on Sunday 31 July. Events on Sunday 31 July -Surrey 100 26,000+ amateur cyclists will take on a 100- mile cycle challenge through the closed roads of London and Surrey before finishing on The Mall. Last year riders raised more than 12million for charity. -Surrey 46 a new event over 46 miles within the existing 100-mile challenge created specifically for newer and younger riders, also starting at Queen Elizabeth Olympic and finishing on The Mall. -Surrey Classic the world s best male cyclists will compete in this world-class one-day race through London and Surrey. The race starts at Horse Guards Parade, St James s before heading into Surrey and returning to the capital to finish on The Mall. The event routes through Kingston, Merton and Wandsworth are on pages 6-11. Other events On Friday 29 July the Prudential RideLondon Grand Prix will see a series of BMX, handcycle and youth races take place at the Lee Valley Velo. On Saturday 30 July the Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle, Prudential RideLondon Classique and Brompton World Championship events take place in central London only (City of London and City of Westminster). Road Closures Sunday 31 July On Sunday 31 July there will be an impact on traffic in large parts of London and across Surrey. Roads used by the event will be closed so you ll need to plan your travel in advance. Cyclists in the -Surrey 100, 46 and Classic events will pass through Kingston on the outbound route and through Kingston, Merton and Wandsworth on the return journey towards the finish. Local Information Key roads Where to watch The A3 will be open, although the exit slips at Esher Common. Coombe Lane and Tibbet s Corner will be closed. Visit Kingston town centre for a fantastic cycle festival including big screens, bike display teams, live music and entertainment. Visit www.kingstonfirst.co.uk Roads adjoining the event routes will have local access only for residents and businesses, with usual Sunday parking restrictions unless otherwise stated. See maps on pages 6-11. Visit Merton where the Love Wimbledon street party will once again take place outside Elys, including BMX displays, try out activities and lots of music and local food. Businesses Emergency services Shops, restaurants and cafés in Kingston, Raynes, Wimbledon and Putney will be open for business as usual. River crossings A number of bridges in central London will be closed until the evening of Sunday 31 July. Kingston Bridge will be closed. Hammersmith Bridge will be open and Wandsworth Bridge will be open for local resident access only (no through route). Putney Bridge northbound remains open from Lower Richmond Road to Fulham High Street all day. Visit www. Vehicles cannot be parked on the event route from 00:01 on Sunday 31 July. Any vehicle left on the route or parked in a suspended parking bay will be removed from the route. Emergencies will be treated as a priority in the usual way. If you require the emergency services, call 999. Emergency vehicle access will be maintained and prioritised throughout all of the events. On the day There will be stewards and volunteers positioned along the route. If you require assistance on the day that is not a 999 emergency please ask event staff to help. Alternatively contact the Helpdesk (0345 894 9773). Pedestrian crossing points Pedestrian crossing points are located along the event route. These will be under supervision to help pedestrians cross the road. Usual crossings may be suspended, but an alternative will be signposted where it will be easier to cross. Please be patient during the event and listen to instructions given by stewards. Public transport There will be some planned engineering works taking place on the Transport for London network on the event weekend. Due to event road closures, some bus services will need to be diverted temporarily, suspended or will terminate earlier than usual. Some stops may also be temporarily relocated.
