THE ROBINS ARE IN TOWN Today we welcome The Robins from Bracknell Town FC to Honeycroft for this Bostik South Central match, we would also like to welcome our Match Officials Alexander Mathieson, David Payne and Stephen Hawkes, we hope you all have an enjoyable afternoon and a safe journey home. This will be the 19th competitive match against Bracknell Town, the first was in the 1976 FA Challenge Cup at Honeycroft with the result a 1-0 loss, our last competitive match came in the 2009/10 Southern Football League where we ran out 3-1 winners with goals from O'Toole (2) and Stevens, there are two players still at the club who were involed that day, Kevin Warner and Dave Thomas. We last played The Robins in a pre-season match last season at their newly laid 3G pitch, Bracknell ran out 10-1 victors. Bracknell were promoted as Runners Up from the Hellenic League Premier Division last season along with Thatcham Town losing out on goal difference. Bracknell had an excellent run in the Buildbase FA Vase losing in the Quarter Final to Marske United 3-1 at Larges Lane. Bracknell are the only side left in the Division with an unbeaten record of six wins and one draw from their seven league matches, their biggest win coming in their third match at home to League newcomers FC Romania where they ran out 6-0 winners, their goals came from Ferdinand (3), Maloney, Bowerman and Bayley. In the Buildbase FA Trophy they beat Haywards Heath Town from the Bostik South East Division and will now play Bognor Regis at home in the First Round Qualifying. In the Velocity Trophy they have already beaten Kingstonian FC and Horsham FC and they meet Egham Town in the Second Round on 6th November. After crashing out to Chalfont St Peter on penalties in the Buildbase FA Trophy our squad had a weekend away from league and cup action and will be raring to put our misfortunes of our past few matches behind them and get back to winning ways. Let's all get behind the team and cheer them onto success. 'COME ON YOU REDS'

Bracknell Town Football Club was formed in 1896 as Old Bracknell Wanderers and changed its name to Bracknell F.C. in 1949. BRACKNELL TOWN FC CLUB HISTORY The club played in the local leagues until joining the Great Western league. After four seasons in this league and renaming the club Bracknell Town in 1962 the club was elected to the Surrey Senior League, which they won in the the 1969/70 season. The club also won the league cup in 1968/69 and 1969/70. After this success the club entered the Spartan League (later re-named the London Spartan League) and finished runners up on goal average in 1975/76, in which they also reach the fifth round of the FA Vase. After winning the league in 1982/83, they were promoted in 1984 to the Isthmian League Division Two South. They were promoted to Division One as runners-up in 1985/86, finishing third in their highest ever league placing. However in 1988/89, Bracknell Town were relegated and following a re-organisation of the Isthmian League were placed in Division Three in 19991/92. They returned to Division Two after wining the league in 1993/94, but after five seasons were relegated back down to Division Three. Further league reorganisation in 2002/03 the club was moved into the Isthmian League Division Two South, but moved to the Southern Football League Division One West after two season. Bracknell were reprieved from relegation in 2008/09 but were relegated the following season to the Hellenic League Premier Division. The downward trend continued and after just two seasons Hellenic League Premier Division they were relegated to Hellenic League Division One East. The Club returned to the Premier Division after just one season in Division One and although flirting with relegation recovered to finish just below halfway. At the start of the 2016/17 season under the guidance of new chairman Kayne Steinborn-Busse the club embarked on a major redevelopment of the ground with the installation of a state-of-the-art 3G pitch, changing facilities and club house and in keeping with this total modernisation re-branded the clubs logo.

BRACKNELL TOWN FC CLUB HISTORY They reaped major benefits from this work with all teams down to the youngest age group now able to play and train at Larges Lane. For the senior club, the reserve team returned to the Suburban League whilst the First team had their most successful season for a very long time. Under the management of Mark Tallentire, we were involved in the Hellenic Premier Division title and promotion back to the Southern League, which went down to the final day. Unfortunately we lost on the day and finished runners-up, however the disappointment was tempered by winning three cups, the Berks and Bucks Senior Trophy, the Hellenic League Challenge Cup and the Reading Senior Cup where the final was played at Reading FC s Madejeski stadium. 2017/18 saw the Robins make the FA Vase quarter final and win promotion back to step 4 after an 8 year absence after finishing runners in the Hellenic Premier Division, missing out on top spot by just 2 goals. As well as retaining the Hellenic League Challenge Cup.

There have been three notable wins for England over the past week, with cause for celebration for Gareth Southgate s senior side and Under-21 boss Aidy Boothroyd, while not forgetting the work of Paul Fairclough is raising the nationwide profile of the England C team. For England C it was a performance that belied the three days preparation the team had for their test against Estonia Under-23s, with Alfie Pavey s conversion from the penalty spot guiding the Three Lions to a 1-0 victory at Brisbane Road. It was a match that saw the visitors fail to register a shot on target and England C uphold the strictest level of discipline, picking up no yellow or red cards. The NLP s reporter rated each player at seven or higher, reserving special praise for AFC Fylde James Hardy, but there was one disappointment from the evening which stood out. Just 635 fans attended the match which was well promoted by host club Leyton Orient, who had on-form centre-back Marvin Ekpiteta play the full 90 minutes on his home patch. Fairclough won t be fazed by that factor, after months of scouting across the country culminated in a win and a clean sheet. We pick players who have technical ability and we want them to go and express themselves, Fairclough told The NLP. I m extremely happy with the performance considering the short time we get with them. They were very quiet around the dinner table when they arrived because there was 12 new caps, but by last night they were chatting away with each other and really bonding. It was a good team performance, playing the game, in the main, how I want them to play and more importantly the way they want to play. There are certain restrictions at club level and I fully understand that, I ve been there and know what it s like having to play for three points. Here we can afford to give them a bit of poetic license where they can go and express themselves and I like to think they did that.

For the England senior side, a 3-2 win owed much to a courageous first-half performance that shunned Spain away from their prowess moving the ball. It was Spain s first defeat at home in 15 years as they failed to claw back a 3-0 deficit in the second-half despite a goal from Paco Alcacer spicing things up with 30 minutes to play. There are few lessons more pertinent in football than when a team with 26 per cent possession downs comes out the victor, and yet England played very attractive football for the match and made their small margin of possession count just watch the build-up that allowed Raheem Sterling to end his Three Lions goal-drought. While the Under-21 side secured their place at next summer s European Championship with a 2-0 win over the Old Enemy Scotland, under the coaching of Boothroyd. Goals from Reiss Nelson and Kieron Dowell earning the victory over the Scots and booking England s shot at silverware in Italy in 2019. A timely reminder that The NLP will be on sale this Sunday with special coverage dedicated to the FA Cup another edition extended to 56 pages!
