Young wasn t the only one that achieved a career milestone. Setter Jo Wilks passed current Furman assistant Courtney Leagans for third on Furman s all-time assists list The Paladins are off to a 4-0 start in conference play and boast a 12-match SoCon winning streak dating back to Oct. 18, 2014. Chattanooga sits atop the SoCon standings with Furman, having also gotten off to a 4-0 start in league play. The Mocs managed to extend their winning streak to 11 matches with wins over Wofford and Mercer this past week. Chattanooga ranks fourth nationally in digs per set with 17.57. Wofford earned its biggest victory of the season on Friday, sweeping preseason favorite Samford at home. The win was the Terrier s first over Samford in program history. Wofford was previously 0-9 against Samford since the Bulldogs joined the SoCon in 2008. Senior Jessica Graham had 15 digs in the win and is 17 digs shy of breaking the school record of 1,631 held by Reagan Styles (2009-12). Mercer freshman Paige Alsten has emerged as a force at the net for the Bears. Alsten notched 18 blocks in three matches this past week, and has recorded multiple blocks in 11 consecutive matches and 14 of 16 matches on the season. She has now cracked the top 100 nationally in blocks per set, checking in at No. 83 with a 1.18 average. Her 1.18 blocks per set average is second in the SoCon behind only ETSU s Khadijah Wiley. After dropping three matches at the Baylor Invitational, UNCG was done no favors with a conference schedule that opened with three road matches against Chattanooga, Samford and ETSU. The Spartans got back on track at home, posting a 3-0 sweep of Western Carolina on Saturday to snap their six-match skid. Friday s slate of matches features two contests with implications at the top of the SoCon standings.
