The Organising Committee reserves the right to omit classes which are insufficiently supported. PRIZE MONEY Prize Money will be at the discretion of the Organising Committee but a minimum of R2000 shall be paid to the prize winners of the 2018 Individual Adult Dressage Championship of South Africa as well as to the prize-winners of the 2018 Individual Adult Freestyle Dressage Championship of South Africa as per DSA rules. ORDER OF RIDING Once riders with more than one horse have been timetabled, a random draw will establish the order of riding for the Championship. NUMBER OF TESTS No horse may compete in more than 2 tests per day up to and including Elementary- Medium level. Horses may only compete in one test per day at DSA Medium level and above NUMBER OF ENTRIES NUMBER OF HORSES Any class which has twenty five or more entries will be divided into pools. A rider may not qualify more than 2 horses for any Championship in any one class, unless at the Organizer s discretion, the lack of numbers and the availability of suitable timetabling permits the rider to ride more than 2 horses in one class. Any rider with multiple entries which complicate the programming may be asked to limit the number of entries. ELIGIBILITY OBLIGATIONS OF PRIZE WINNERS The actual SA Championship titles can only be won by a SA citizen or a rider who legally resides in South Africa on a permanent basis. A horse may ONLY compete in the grade in which it is registered This does not apply to Para-Dressage competitions. A horse that is registered in the Big or Medium Tour grades may ride down to any lower Tour grade. An Open or O athlete may ride a horse in a grade higher than its registered grade subject to rules 34.11.6 and 34.11.7 and all rules pertaining to Open Riders provided that the O athlete has competed and achieved a minimum of 60% on that horse at any graded show prior to the closing date of entry, in the higher grade in which he/she wishes to enter the horse. All prize winners are obliged to attend the Prize Givings. Failure to do so without the written permission of the organisers will result in the forfeiture of all titles and prizes. Only the 2018 Individual Adult Dressage Championship of South Africa, the 2018 Individual Adult Freestyle Dressage Championship of South Africa as well as the Teams Prize Givings will be mounted. Horses and riders are to be correctly turned out and may only wear official day-sheets and advertising. The times for all Prize Giving Ceremonies will be advertised on the programme. 3

PRIZE GIVING CEREMONIES Other than where specifically stated otherwise, all Prize-Giving Ceremonies will be un-mounted but correctly dressed in the KEP clubhouse or the show marquee at the end of each afternoon at the times specified on the programme. Failure to be present at the prize-giving ceremony without prior written arrangement may result in disqualification and the forfeiting of all prize-money. USE OF COMPETITION ARENAS The competition arenas are out of bounds for schooling from the first day of the show until the last class of the show has finished in that arena. Arena times for familiarization will be posted with the final programme and other times will be made available where possible. CALLERS AND WHIPS A whip and a caller may be used in all Qualifying classes except for FEI Prix St-Georges levels and up which may use a whip but must ride the qualifying classes from memory. All Championship classes, except where Para-Equestrian allows otherwise, will be ridden from memory and without whips. HORSE PASSPORTS All competitors must have their up-to-date horse passports at the event for inspection at any time. Horses whose passports do not fully comply with the current Government, FEI, DSA Rules 2018, General Regulations (Dressage) 2018 may be refused permission to compete and asked to leave the venue. Passports must be handed into the Show Office prior to competing. HORSE INSPECTIONS All horses entered in the Big Tour classes and those entered in Inter-Provincial Team Championship must present for inspection on Wednesday 5th September. Times will be advertised on the programme. Any other horse(s) may be called to a horse inspection at the discretion of the OC. TESTING and CHECKING Both horses and athletes may be tested at any time during the show for prohibited substances. Saddlery and bits may be checked before and/or after competitors enter/leave the arena. SUBSTITUTIONS As per DSA rules. Substitutions may not take place on and after the first day of the show. OBJECTIONS and APPEALS All Objections and Appeals must be lodged with the Show Director or Show Secretary in writing within the specified time and accompanied by the required deposit as per the General Regulations (Dressage) 2018 EXCLUSION OF LIABILITY and INDEMNITY Neither Eaton Farm Shows, nor SAEF, nor DSA, nor Kyalami Equestrian Park, nor Sun Hills Club, nor their agents, sponsors, partners, employees, officers, officials, members, independent contractors, volunteers or any other persons associated herewith shall be responsible or may be held liable for any loss, damage or injury including consequential losses, suffered by or caused to any person or property on or about the property or premises on which any event, competition, match, practice or related activity or any other activity of whatsoever nature is held, whether or not such loss, damage or injury is occasioned by any act or omission of Eaton Farm Shows or Kyalami Equestrian Park, it s agents, employees, officers, members, independent contractors, volunteers or any other persons associated herewith or for whose actions they or any of them would be liable in law, or by reason of vis major casus fortuitus, rain or other water, riot, strikes, theft or burglary with or without forcible entry, or by any reason or any condition on or off any grounds, building structures, premises or facilities on or about which any Eaton Farm Shows or Kyalami Equestrian Park event, competition, function or meeting of whatsoever nature is held, or caused by any sporting activity, or by any other cause of whatsoever nature and howsoever arising. By entering or participating or officiating in any activity of the show, one agrees that all information and particulars supplied are correct, and one agrees to abide by all of the rules and regulations and one agrees that the decision of the organizers is final. 4

BEHAVIOUR TOWARDS OFFICIALS Any person who attempts to harass or influence the Judges, Stewards or Officials, or who at any time uses contemptuous or abusive language at the venue, whether to any of the judges, stewards or officials, may forfeit his or her right to any prizes to which he or she may be otherwise entitled. Likewise, no abusive or aggressive treatment of horses will be tolerated. Such perpetrators will be issued a Yellow Card. DRESS As per DSA rules except Para Equestrian athletes with specific dress classifications. Identification numbers must be worn on the left hand side of the bridle or numnah at all times. Failure to display this identification number incurs a warning and if repeated, a fine. SCHOOLING of HORSES STABLING Under no account, and under penalty of disqualification, may any horse, except those ridden by Para Equestrian athletes where allowed, take part in any class should that horse have been schooled under saddle by anyone other than the correctly entered competitor concerned from the start of the 1st day of the show until the end of that horse s last class. Stabling will be available from Sunday 2nd of September until Monday 10th September at R1200 for the duration of the show including the initial shavings. Storage stables may be available on a first come first served basis at R1000 for the duration of the show. Please indicate on the stabling form if your horse is a stallion. Daily stables are available for R200 a day plus and additional R200 for the initial shavings. Further shavings must be bought by the competitor. Competitors wishing to stable together must indicate that clearly on the entry form. Stables allocated may not be changed without the permission of the Stable Manager or the OC. Please see the separate Stabling Form GROOMS ACCOMMODATION Competitors are advised to provide their grooms with suitable accommodation such as tents etc. There are ablution facilities on the show grounds. Meals for grooms will be available from the catering facility at the Clubhouse. Please supply the name and surname of your groom when you enter online ACCOMMODATION Please check our 2018 SA Dressage Champs in the area. for the list of accommodation CATERING Catering will be available PROGRAMMES Programmes at R100 will ONLY be printed to order for those who have paid for one on the entry form. FREESTYLE MUSIC Freestyle music is to be emailed to Jonathan Harrison, on jonathanharrison0909@gmail.com by Friday 31st August 2018.Times for sound checks will be in the programme. The ONUS is on the rider to ensure that he/she has submitted his/her music on time and has checked the music is correct. 5

There will be two qualifying tests offered in each of these grades. The top 15 qualifying horses will be eligible to compete in the Championship; the remaining horses will automatically ride in the Consolation class for that grade. The qualification for the championship will be determined by the sum of the points received for the placings in both qualifying tests. Irrespective of the number of competitors in the competition the horse and rider placed first shall receive 20 points, the second 19 points, and the third 18 points and so on. Ties shall be awarded full points. In the event of a tie of the total qualifying points for the 15th place, then all those tying for this place shall be allowed to compete in the Championship. The horse and rider combination must be the same for the qualifying competitions and the Championship. QUALIFYING CLASSES FOR NOVICE TO ADVANCED Novices to Elementary Medium competitors are not compelled to compete in both qualifying competitions but must compete in at least one class unless there are fewer than 15 competitors. Medium to advanced horses must ride the qualifying classes unless there are less than 15 competitors Where qualifying competitions are split into more than one pool, all pools must be judged by the same jury. Competitors riding more than 1 horse in the same grade must compete in the same qualifying pool with all his/her horses. One rider may only ride a maximum of 2 horses in any Championship class - any further qualified horses must ride in the Consolation Class. In the classes where the team competition is ridden in conjunction with a qualifying or championship class a competitor shall always ride his team entry horse before his individual entry horse or horses should he/she have more than one horse in that class. QUALIFYING CLASSES FOR THE SMALL, MEDIUM AND BIG TOURS Should there be more than 15 entries in each/any of the Small, Medium or Big Tour classes, the Qualifier class will determine the 15 top riders to compete in the Championship in each level; the remaining horses will automatically ride in the Consolation class for that level. Competitors are not compelled to compete in the qualifying competition but should there be more than 15 competitors, that competitor will automatically ride in the Consolation Class. QUALIFYING FOR PARA-EQUESTRIAN CLASSES Should there be more than 15 entries in each/any of the Para-Equestrian grades, the Qualifier class will determine the 15 to riders to compete in the Championship in each grade; the remaining horses will automatically ride in the Consolation class for that grade. Competitors are not compelled to compete in the qualifying competition but should there be more than 15 competitors, that competitor will automatically ride in the Consolation Class for that grade. PRELIMINARY CLASSES Only full members of DSA may enter the Preliminary classes which are additional classes. The preliminary classes do not form part of the South African Championship titles. 6

TEAMS No combination may be a member of more than one team and no rider may ride more than one horse in a team NOVICE This team will comprise 4 riders, of which the best 3 scores will count; The team test will be the second qualifier, not a separate event This will be open to Novice combinations ELEMENTARY/ELEMENTARY -MEDIUM This team will comprise 4 riders, of which the best 3 scores will count; The team test will be the second qualifier, not a separate event This is open to Elementary/EM combinations but must comprise of at least one Elementary and one Elementary-Medium Combination. The other 2 combinations may be either Elem or EM or one of each. OPEN The team will comprise 4 riders, who must be graded AEM or above. Team members include 4 starting combinations. The 3 top scores will count towards team results. There will be a separate South African Open Team Event. The test ridden is Advanced 1. All team horses will have to attend the vet check. TEAM ENTRIES For Novice and Elementary/Elementary Medium teams: Provinces must send an Intention to send Team Form to the Organising Committee and to the DSA National Office at the closing date of entries. Provinces must submit Preliminary Team Selection to the Organising Committee for confirmation of entries before the start of the show. Provinces must confirm final team members at the Team Declaration on Wednesday 5th September. These can still be substituted up until 1 hour before the start of the event. For Open Team: Provinces must send an Intention to send Team form to the Organizing Committee and the DSA National Office by close of entries on the Friday 15th August 2018. Notification of final selection must be received by the Organizing Committee and DSA National Office by 4pm on Friday 31st August 2018. Final participating combinations and the reserve will be selected at the team declaration on Wednesday 5th September.
